Seth Rollins Joins Evolution Following Major Swerve On Raw

WWE pulled a big swerve at the end of Monday’s Raw when Seth Rollins attacked both Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose with a chair. The scheduled main event match was Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns, but it never happened.

Triple H was on the mic as they walked down the ramp and said plan A didn’t work, and now it’s time for plan B. And then Rollins attacked. As seen at the beginning of the show, Batista “quit” after not getting what he wanted.

Im legitimately shocked. That was the first time in years a RAW ended with my mouth open, totally shocked.

    • Prprince1205

      Me toooooo

      • joeyb184

Bring on Sting to fill the opening… already has the all black attire. . Wishful thinking just wanting to see sting in wwe

        • BlazeKing

WWE had the opportunity and blew it with ending the streak. Nobody even cares now… It’s so damn sad, man.

    • Gary Robert

I’m legitimately bored. Ending one of the best factions in recent history with one of them turning against the group or the group turning on one of them is the same ho-hum way they break up every faction and whats even better, in from a story line writing prospective, its not just a regular turn that had some sort of build or reasoning, it was simply a nonsensical turn just to create drama which is just silly and ratings desperate. Creative at least did what its always been best at, being NON creative.

      • Mysterion

What did you think? Because you all cried for weeks on end about how Reigns should be the new break out guy it would be him? After tweeting, posting here, on forums, on Facebook and in WWE.com that WWE would go “wow, they really want Reigns in Evolution. Let’s do that and to hell with shock value”. WWE swerved you. You’re now bitching because it makes no sense. Clearly you haven’t been watching WWE TV recently. If you don’t like it, and by that I mean all of it, I have no idea the last time you praised the product, stop watching and stop posting here anything go be combative to someone else’s opinion just to come across like some WWE hipster. No one likes a hipster.

        • Gary Robert

I didn’t cry about anything. I love all three members of The Shield. I said I was bored…which I am. The problem you have with me is that I have a problem with bad storytelling and writing, which is the backbone of television shows, even shows such as WWE. You don’t like that I’m annoyed with things because you’re satisfied with mediocrity and that’s fine for you. Its not for me. Clearly I have haven’t been watching WWE TV recently? Lol really?

  • Tanya

Triple h probably paid seth to join evolution lol

  • jason witten 82

Don’t like this, Seth is to great as a face, why couldn’t it be ambrose with the heel turn? Thoughts?

    • Bryan

Yeah I thought Ambrose would be the heel with Seth and Roman as the faces. Im interested to see where they go with this. Maybe Hunter “buying” Seth?

      • amaanakter

I felt that Ambrose would be a better heel also I’m quite shocked and skeptical about this it makes sense storyline wise but I just hope that after this reigns/HHH storyline he doesn’t get pushed down into the midcard and struggle to break through again

    • Bob’s Diner

They are going to use him to further Roman Reigns. I’m guessing he will feud with him so he can make Reigns look good and get him even more over. Makes sense

      • jason witten 82

great point here, seth could make reigns look like a million bucks, i just hope he returns the favor. should be fun to watch

    • Superfly

I agree, whomever is making the calls is clueless. It is really getting unwatchable.

  • Kris Guenther

Well… alright. It was different. Can’t say I expected that. Let’s see how this goes.

  • Prprince

    Brilliant!!!!! Never knew it

    • jason witten 82

as long as it means a rollins push instead of him ending up as the evolution whipping boy im excited to see this develop

      • Prprince1205

I see what you mean I’m kinda worried that after this he may just end up a lower mid card after it’s all said and done

        • Bryan

All 3 of them are going to be huge stars. Im not really worried about it. Hopefully he doesnt up as a Kofi or a Dolph…doomed to the midcard for life.

          • jason witten 82

maybe batista joins the shield now, complete with a little vest and black skinny jeans lol. your right though, this could be a great way to make all three bigger stars

          • Mysterion

            Wouldn’t they be blue?

          • jason witten 82

lol i stand corrected, good call

    • Gary Robert

of course you never knew it…b/c it made zero sense to have had happen

      • Stephen Cash

        Definitely makes total sense.

  • Rich

Was definitely shocked when it happened. Initially annoyed with the decision, but I’m hoping it’ll lead to… something good. Do hate that they’ve… effectively killed The Shield.

  • Scott Seefong

guess big dave is officially off for his movie. recently opened position in the shield, inquire within.

  • Bob’s Diner

Anyone else think this should have happened at Payback?
I mean, would have made sense to have Rollins turn on the team then and help Evolution cause the end of The Shield

    • jason witten 82

the only reason i disagree with you is the loss at payback caused frustration with evolution leading to a rift between dave and hunter leading to dave quitting, now we get to see how hunter got seth to jump ship after that went down if that makes sense. maybe hunter got desperate after dave quit so he promised rollins the world to join…

      • Bob’s Diner

See, I thought they could have had Bootista fail at Payback and then call him out on it at Raw, leading to him being kicked out of the group or something…

        • jason witten 82

if they could have done that without turning bootista back to a good guy then i would have been all for it, even if it made him a tweener that would have probably been a better way to do it, but im cool with them making it happen on raw

        • Bob’s Diner

Oh you are so funny today!!!

  • Patrick

I was not shocked at all.

  • Michael

Hopefully this is a swerve like when Daniel Bryan joined the Wyatts.

    • Patrick

good idea you brought up………..one can only hope that happens that way.

    • Gary Robert

that was another rushed, blown storyline

      • Mysterion

        Do you ever not bitch?

        • Gary Robert

My bad. You should be satisfied with how that went. A nice rushed ending, just how you like it. I definitely was! It was AMAZING!

    • amaanakter

I was thinking this still am hoping for this (like Rollins helps Reigns win at Summerslam) but how long did the Bryan joining the Wyatts storyline last must have been like 2-3 weeks my only worry for this is that after this Rollins ends up in the midcard and we all know thats not good for anybody

  • rise8604

Wow! That moment is whats best for business. Totally shocked it was Rollins who defected or joined up with Evolution. Now I cant wait to tune in and see what happens next. Definitely the best move for it to be on Raw instead of happening on Payback, so the intrigue can build over the next week.

  • Mandy

I really don’t know if this was the way to go or not. I thought Shield were stronger than ever but there were fans who speculated this could happen. Lets see where WWE goes with this.

    • Razmos

THANK YOU, you hit the nail on the head “see where WWE goes with it”. To many people judging saying its not logical blah blah blah, wait for Seth to explain next week before judging if it is logical or not, it was going to happen sooner or later.

      • kingdook24

        Okay… I’ll wait for next week…

        • Mysterion

Why are you effectively shitting on something before you’ve given it an opportunity? That’s the main problem with fans today. Try want everything right now.

  • kingdook24

This doesn’t make a lick of damn sense. The Shield has TWO straight victories over Evolution… TWO!!! Evolution has none. Evolution never has had the advantage on The Shield at all.

Why would Rollins defect? What did he have to gain by joining a group that HIS group has dismantled at TWO straight PPVs?!! I don’t understand this logic – this has to be one of the most unrealistic, nonlogical heel turns I’ve ever seen.

    • Lebron James

You’re not thinking hard enough. Triple H is the BOSS. He could promise Rollins greatness, thats more than enough to tempt Rollins. Makes A LOT of sense.

      • kingdook24

But my issue is they just BEAT the BOSS… TWICE… at TWO straight PPVs. I don’t care what the Boss offers me. I just proved I’m better than him by beating him on multiple occasions.

It’s just not a believable reason for me to accept. Like when Stone Cold sold out years ago and finally teamed up with Vince or that Invasion Angle. I hated that Austin character because over the years, as Stone Cold, it was his lifestyle in WWE to make the boss’ life hell & be the WWE Champion. The Shield got tired of being The Authority’s lapdogs so they went headup against Evolution… now all of a sudden, Rollins is a lapdog again?!

It’s very difficult to accept this based of the execution.

        • amaanakter

True this makes sense i may just be overthinking things but based on the amount of times Rollins hit Ambrose I think they will do Ambrose v Rollins either at MITB or at Summerslam

      • Patrick

as Sore head Batista pointed out HHH’s promises are empty promises..

    • Gary Robert

b/c creative is horrible. Your post echoes exactly what I just posted.

      • Superfly

It is old school booking 101, keep the young stud with the old guy to keep him relevant. It makes zero sense. Triple H sucks as the real boss.

    • Stephen Cash

I disagree I thought it was great. The fact that it was Rollins was a shocker. And him leaving makes sooo much sense. The shield the focus was always on Reigns and Ambrose was seen as the leader. He got tired of taking the back seat, he got tired of putting his body on the line and the other not as much, and HHH promised him the world. The fact that they have two victories over evolution makes it even better. He realized there was no where else to go with the Shield, and that made HHHs over more appealing.

      • kingdook24

No disrespect, but that’s weak. The Shield, in the past, fought over leadership but that issue was squashed when Ambrose/Reigns were beefing. The Shield were equals, and they said it on multiple occasions. HHH promised him the world… what world? Whatever world HHH promised him, The Shield just smashed Evolution in it on TWO straight PPVs. Rollins puts his body on the line more than Ambrose/Reigns… have you NOT looked at Reigns’ back? Did you NOT see Ambrose get DDT’d on concrete at Payback, or the dives he did?

I’m sorry, it’s just not believable to me. It would be believable if the Shield had LOST both matches at Extreme Rules & Payback… but they won them both. They shut up Evolution. I’m simply saying the execution was awful.

        • Nathen

100℅ agree. I hope this angle goes somewhere interesting. But it does seem very illogical for Seth to jump ship to a weaker team after the dominance Shield displayed in the last couple of months.

Was it shocking? Yes. But surprising the audience is not itself a success. I enjoy booking that follows a logical course, so at the moment I’m not happy with this swerve.

  • kingdook24

I don’t know who pulled the trigger on this move but I know I questioned last night during Payback’s Forums Thread that The Shield has two victories over Evolution & I wasn’t sure where the Shield go from that. But the Shield has beaten them twice at two straight PPVs – that’s what makes this move so damn confusing. It seems like it was done either for shock value, like what they did with DB/Wyatts, or they’re trying to milk this storyline even more.

I mean what could the reason be for Rollins defecting? It can’t be because a while back there was tension between Reigns/Ambrose – That got fixed and the ball kept rolling. I really do NOT see the reason for him defecting – I know I keep coming back to it but it’s because it really doesn’t make sense. The Shield has beat Evolution at TWO straight PPVs – “they” had the advantage over them. I’m not necessarily pissed Rollins turned… well, I am alittle bit (I’m a fan of the Shield)… I’m pissed at the execution: I just don’t see the logical reasoning for turning him when The Shield had the advantage.

This is exactly why The Authority need another on-air character with power within the company to go up against them. HHH & Steph are just too powerful on-air characters. It can’t always be just the Superstars opposing them because in the end, the Superstars have no power other than to overcome whatever odds the Authority puts them under. WWE needs more than Bryan, Cena &, before tonight, the Shield. Like if HBK came in as Commissioner or something, or if Vince came back, IDK – something to help balance out the abusive power.

    • Simon Veitch

One thing a lot of people tend to miss here, is that as far as the story is concerned, joining Triple H could be very simply explained on raw next week like this – Rollins cutting a promo about how he was always seen as a glorified spot-monkey by the fans and the other members of the shield (obviously not true but lets roll with it, there are some people who believe that), and as such, he saw the chance to do a favor for Triple H in return for a favor of his own, namely the opportunity for big matches and a title hunt. Also remember that Evolution when it started was all about the Past, Present and Future of WWE, evolution currently lacks this as they have the past in Triple H, Present in Orton and I guess Batista, but they have no future. Rollins coming in as the future pretty much completes evolution.

      • kingdook24

And what favor could that be? Did you not see the pre-match interview with Orton & Renee Young? Orton said he just got done speaking with HHH and HHH assured him that he is STILL the “face” of the WWE. Isn’t that one of the MAIN reasons why The Shield were beefing with The Authority/Evolution in the first damn place? That they were tired of being HHH’s lackeys?!
So Rollins just forgot about all that & decided to be a lackey again?! Orton just assured us in that interview that HHH still claims Orton his TOP guy. So Rollins is gonna just accept that he’s SECOND to Orton, when in The Shield everyone was EQUAL?! If that was the case, Rollins should’ve just went SOLO, not become a lackey again the Authority/Evolution.

See what I’m saying? Horrible execution.

  • kingdook24

The look on Ambrose’s face said it all.

  • Lebron James

I’m glad The Shield is beginning to break up. They’ve done it all. I think it’s time. Rollins and Reigns will benefit from this feud, hopefully they find something for Ambrose to do.

  • Teflon

Is it just me or does anyone else think Roman Reigns is overrated I mean he is booked as the strongest shield member but he is nothing compaired to Rollins and Ambrose.

  • Trapdoor

Way to spoil it for anyone that has purposely not read the results, until they’ve seen the show.

    • Tom Mayer

You come to a wrestling news website and you’re upset over spoilers? Yeah, I mean it shouldnt be spoiled in a headline, but honestly the fault lies with you bro.

      • Trapdoor

[a] Bro? Really? [b] So it would be my fault, coming to see if there was News, on a possible injury, that there is a spoiler slapped in bold headlines. You yourself said it’s a news site. So anybody who hasn’t seen the latest show should stay off of the site – just in case?

        • jason witten 82

its not really a spoiler if it already happened, then its news…

        • Tom Mayer

I can reasonably assume that if I come to a wrestling news dirt sheet site that there is going to be results plastered all over the place in any kind of form.

You take the risk coming to the site not having seen the RAW episode.. While I can agree with you in frustration, you still have no one to blame but yourself.

If you can’t handle spoilers, stay away from wrestling sites. Like jason said, it’s already happened, it’s not anyone else’s fault that you haven’t watched it.

Take responsibility; it’s not wrestlingnewsworld.com’s fault that you haven’t seen RAW yet.

          • Trapdoor

All I’m saying is: After others make sure their headlines/titles don’t give too much away, unless you choose to click on the link & read said results, & then just have someone go *THIS HAPPENED* (even though it was reported in show results & so is basically being re-posted to fill the site with the exact same comments) rather than, say “Huge Swerve In This Weeks Raw” seems not only close-minded towards it’s readers, but a little rude/unthoughtful to it’s fellow staff members.

          • Mysterion

I guess you missed the day Richard decided to text the whole world the fact that Randy Orton won the elimination chamber, despite it airing at 1am in England so the majority of us didn’t get to watch live because we have jobs on Monday morning?

    • troll

      what an idiot!

  • Splat

I’m more upset that it was Seth then I am they broke up. I thought it would have been Dean when this finally happened.

  • Scooter Livingston

Either Batista’s contract was expiring OR he joins the Shield…or…The Shield gets a new member in either Mark Henry /Big Show…
