Sheamus Busted Open Hardway At Last Night’s WWE Live Event

As noted in the report from last night’s WWE Smackdown live event, Sheamus was busted open hardway, causing him to bleed heavily. The spot occurred when Daniel Bryan delivered a belt shot to Sheamus’ face during his match against Mark Henry.

What does "busted open hardway" mean? I understand the "busted open" part. What's "hardway"? I've never heard that terminology before.

  means it was due to blunt force impact – not a razor or fake blood capsule

  It means that he did not gig in order to acheive his blood flow. Gigging is, when they used to juice pretty frequently, they would use a blade to do along the hairline. Hardway essentially means that it was no planned and that it was not “properly” inflicted.

Is it me, or is Daniel Bryan dangerous with the belt shots? First he gives RKO a concussion with a shot to the back of the head, then he busts Sheamus open with a shot to the front of the head. Perhaps they (the writers) should quit letting D B use belt shots…or, even better, maybe Sheamus should get mean on him in the ring at Wrestlemania and bust him open for real, regardless of what the script calls for. Let's face it, if Sheamus wanted to throw the script out the window, he could REALLY hurt D B…or practically anyone else he wanted to.
