Sheamus Out 4-6 Months With Torn Labrum, Surgery Scheduled

Sheamus has a torn labrum in his left shoulder that will require surgery to repair and is expected to be out 4-6 months. The procedure is scheduled for next week.

According to an article on dot com, the former WWE Champion suffered the injury during the Money in the Bank All-Stars Ladder match and it was further aggravated over the following weeks. MRI results indicated the injury would indeed need to be surgically repaired.

“We performed a specialized MRI with a dye inserted to highlight the structures within the shoulder joint," said WWE ringside physician Dr. Chris Amann in a new article on dot com. "Doctor Samson and I both reviewed the film, and it appears that Sheamus has a cartilage [SLAP] tear.”

Sheamus will undergo arthroscopic surgery next week to fix the tear.

"I’ve never in my whole life had to have surgery,” Sheamus said. “I’ve always worked through pain. For the first time in four years, I’m going to be out of action.”

He continued, “To say I’m devastated would be a serious understatement, but I’m determined to take this time to go home to Ireland to see my family, to see my friends, learn a different language, read a lot of books, and come back bigger, stronger and better than ever.”

Richard Reacts: The MITB All-Stars Match was brutal. I remarked at the time when we were hearing of everyone else's knocks that Sheamus took the worst bumps. Now we see that while Sheamus is tough as nails, not even he is immune to serious injury.

    Well sh**

He didn’t really have any direction anyway. This could allow him to come back stronger and hungrier.

This was my thoughts. I hate seeing anyone injured, but if it gives hime time to heal and come back recharged thats great. Hopefully they can do something when he returns as his character was getting a bit stale. Personally, I was a lot more a fan of his work as a heel.

  • Patrick

    wish him well.

4-6 months leaves him due to return around Rumble time, give or take. Hopefully with a bit of luck he can step right back into a feud with some meaning. I’ve always enjoyed Sheamus as a worker but just felt that whenever he was given a bit of a push, he almost fell into lack of direction for his character and just got left behind in upper mid card

Speedy recovery hopefully there will be some character development on his return

Wwe’s Facebook says 4-6 weeks not months.

    • NYYANKEES says 4-6 months

I know no one ever wants an injury to sideline their career, but I genuinely think this will ultimately be a positive thing for the longevity of his time in WWE.

He hasn’t been going anywhere and he’s been bordering on John Cena-level when it comes to staleness of gimmick. A nice hiatus and a memorable return could place him right back up to the main event level he used to enjoy.

I wish him the best of luck and a strong recovery!

Not saying I’m glad he’s injured, but only hope this opens up the possibility of him returning as a heel. He was much more believable as the jerk of the month than the over the top Barney character he’s become. Hell, for a while I was half expecting him to break into I Love You and give group hugs. The Dial A Bro bits weren’t helping much either.

The 1-800- FELLA bits were good. It’s just “fans” are getting so anal over any little thing now. Stop being so uptight people!

      • thepowerserge

Hardly being “uptight.” Just pointing out that Sheamus was, and has always been, a much better heel than a face. But I suppose he has to be the cartoony, over the top Barney character for a bit, especially since he’s doing so much to push the Be A Star anti-bullying campaign, right?

  • BIG M

I hope he comes back a heel.
He is boring as a face, little insulting too with all the Irish stereotypes.

  • Stoney

Hope he returns as a heel, sick of his happy go lucky face character
