Sheamus’ Return, Undertaker Wrestlemania XXX Opponent, Hogan’s Changes To TNA, Sandow A Main Eventer?

What’s the latest on the return of Sheamus?

Sheamus is still out recovering from the torn labrum he suffered at Money in the Bank that required surgery. The initial timeline had him back anywhere from December to February and from everything I’ve heard, he’s right on track. At this point his health and subsequent medical clearance will determine when he’ll be booked to return on WWE television. He has been doing a lot of public appearances for WWE and will resume a main event role upon coming back.

When people speculate about who Undertaker’s opponent for Wrestlemania XXX will be (or should be) the names I hear most are Brock Lesnar, Ryback and even Sting. What about John Cena? Personally, I think this would be the best matchup for having a “must-see” feel. What do you think?

I wouldn’t be opposed to John Cena challenging the streak but I don’t see it happening next year. The Undertaker wants Brock Lesnar and even went as far as telling fans that this year. There is nothing to Ryback vs. Undertaker rumors, as they were started by Ryback. Sting is an opponent that WWE hoped to land for Undertaker a couple of years ago but a deal obviously wasn’t reached. It’s still likely that plans change but as of today, I think we’re going to see Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania XXX.

I thought Hulk Hogan was an owner of TNA Wrestling. Why has he now left?

Hulk Hogan was not an investor in TNA Wrestling, he was a hired name and held roles on and off screen. Dixie Carter really liked the name recognition that Hogan brought to TNA but the bottom-line was they needed him to take a pay cut and he wasn’t willing to do that. Hogan still has WWE aspirations and that’s where things currently stand. Looking back at the way Hogan left, with Dixie Carter grabbing his leg and begging him to stay, is really laughable. Hogan pushed for a lot of things in TNA and they included but are not limited to the elimination of the 6-sided ring, moving Impact from Thursdays to Mondays, the Gut Check concept and taping television on the road.

Since Damien Sandow looked great in his loss against John Cena on Raw, will WWE finally gave him a main event push?

Without spoiling Smackdown, the feeling backstage at Raw on Monday night was that Damien Sandow came out of his failed ‘cash in’ attempt looking better, not worse. He’s safe through one week but we’ll just have to wait and see where the company books him from here. As previously noted, the time and place of the failed “cash in” attempt seemed odd but Vince McMahon wanted something big for this week’s show.

From the Ask WNW vault…

December 2011: Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon have a very unique relationship to say the least. Both have huge egos, however, the success they’ve endured can be traced back to one another. I personally believe there is a mutual amount of respect between Hogan and McMahon but they are not by any means friends. The talk when Hogan first came to TNA was that he couldn’t agree to terms on a WWE deal so he decided to help out TNA. While initially unhappy that Hogan joined Dixie Carter and company, I’ve heard McMahon has grown apathetic to workers such as Hogan and Ric Flair working for his “competition.” There was probably some initial fear that Hogan could elevate TNA but that clearly has not happened.

hopefully sheamus comes back as a bad ass heel.

    • Danny_Boy

I’m actually hoping he resumes his role as a over the top corny babyface

      • Tim

But people hate cena so why do we need a part 2

      • TheBigKing1

Yeah, me too…at least for the time being.

    • Tony Rankin

I agree, he put his name on the map as a heel destroying people and winning the heavyweight title in what 2 months? He wasn’t booked in confidence as a champion at that time but now that he’s more over, he could easily make a great heel again. Hopefully they do a Super Sheamus vs Super Cena so since neither can lose, the match just ends in one big explosion.

    • Bob’s Diner

Hopefully Sheamus comes back with a tan

  • Tim

Taker and Kane need a round 3 more than HHH and taker needed

  • Hercules Rockerfeller

Hulk Hogan needs to stay as far away from TNA as humanly possible! He is the cause of all of the bad financials that’s happening with the company! Him and his huge ego, if he really cared about the company he would take a pay cut and be a part of the team! If they bring him back under the same pay or higher than you know what? I hope they go outt of business because anybody who’s that blind and stupid to see that Hogan is not good for TNA, doesn’t deserve my support!

  • Dan

I would love to see bray wyatt vs the undertaker. Keep wyatt unbeaten until wrestlemania and push him to challenge him

  • Cubed56

I wouldn’t want to see lesnar and taker, cause there is no suspense as to who will win. There’s no way the streak ends to a part timer. Sting and taker would’ve been great ten years ago, now no thanks. Ryback, ha, I’ve got just as good a chance at challenging the streak as Ryback does. IMO there is only 3 guys that should be in consideration to challenge the streak this year, and those three are…Cena, Ambrose, or Bray Wyatt.

Wrestlemania XXX could be the last round for The Undertaker.
What better way to go out than renewing an old Attitude Era rivalry with The Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin.

    • Bob’s Diner

If it is his last match, he should go out with a real bang. Put him in a 4 way Casket match with Kane, Ryback and Zack Ryder. He can end it by putting them all in caskets and using his lightning bolt super power that he hasn’t used in years to zap the caskets and they will all burst into flames and he walks off into the sunset like a total badass

      • James

Yeah…. Because Zack Ryder and Ryback make sense …..

        • Bob’s Diner

Totally. In fact, they could start a tag team together because both have ‘Ry’ in their names

  • James

A younger full-time wrestler should challenge Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30. It would be better in the long run if a younger talent defeated Undertaker. You have about 6 months till Wrestlemania to push someone to the moon to be a viable contender to defeat Taker. A few names that I think should face Taker are Ziggler, Wade Barrett, or Dean Ambrose. Go ahead and push one of them right now so they can face Taker at Mania.

  • smark calloway

    sheamus looks rapey sans beard

  • Big Joe 58

I say that Hogan returns and faces Taker.at Wrestlemania… The force of the light verses the force of the dark…..at the end the match ends in an explosion and both men are out… a great match, payday and exit for both from the business.

  • JasonT2300

Daniel Bryan vs Cm Punk WWE Title match
John Cena vs RVD WHC match
    Taker vs Lesnar
    Show vs HHH
    Kofi vs Sandow ic match
Big E vs Kane US title match
    AJ vs Who Cares
    And Hopefully Shield Vs Wyatts
    WM XXX

    • Bob’s Diner

Big E vs Kane? Kofi vs Sandow? Those sound like preshow to Royal Rumble type matches

    • David F.

I think the Shield will be broken up when Mania season comes around and it will be interesting to see how Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose are booked on the show as individuals.

  • thepowerserge

Wait, you mean to say he’s STILL recovering? And here I thought every superstar recovered as quickly as Super Cena. Now THAT’S news!

    • Bob’s Diner

No one recovers as fast as Cena, because no one works harder or loves this industry as much as John Cena.

The nerve of these ‘superstars’, taking the correct amount of time to heal their injuries

      • thepowerserge

Precisely what I was thinking. How strange that there are still average guys in wrestling.

  • JJ

Sheamus will be back for RR as a “surprise” entrant. He looks different without facial hairs it’s crazy, almost like another character. I think it depends on where you sit with cena…I personally would be appalled to even have him attempt for the streak, let alone have a believable chance of ending it, the ONLY person I could EVER fully get behind ending it is the man who has always put the nails in the coffin KANE!

  • Bob’s Diner

I’m making the call now – Sheamus vs Orton for the title at WM XXX. And HHH vs Vince McMahon in a street fight for control of WWE
