WWE Champion Jinder Mahal [w/Singh Brothers] made his way to the ring to open the show to talk about tonight's main event - teaming up with Rusev to take on Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton. Mahal referred to the audience as "jingoistic naysayers" and said that one of the Singhs would have to "pay the price" for his embarrassment at the hands of Nakamura last week. They offered to kiss his "royal feet" in exchange for forgiveness but before they could do so, Shinsuke Nakamura made his way to the ring. He pushed the Singhs aside and slugged it out with the champion but the numbers game was too much and Nakamura got beaten down. Randy Orton came out for the save but Rusev cut him off at the pass. The heels stood tall as the segment came to an end.

1) Chad Gable/Shelton Benjamin def. The Ascension by pinfall in 7:17 when Benjamin pinned Viktor.

Baron Corbin said he would answer AJ Styles' open challenge tonight. However, Tye Dillinger made it to the ring first so Corbin laid him out and tried to take his place. However, Dillinger sent Corbin packing and took his place back in the title match.

2) AJ Styles def. Tye Dillinger by submission to retain the United States Championship in 49 seconds.

Rusev informed Jinder Mahal that he wanted a future title shot.

3) Bobby Roode def. Mike Kanellis [w/Maria] by pinfall in 2:50 when he hit the Glorious DDT.

Kevin Owens interrupted some pre-match singing from Aiden English when he noted that the unrefined fans couldn't possibly appreciate his dulcet tones. He was out to complain about Shane McMahon suddenly becoming the referee in last week's US Title match when Baron Corbin gave up his ref shirt. He went on about being held back by the brand until Shane McMahon himself decided to interrupt the proceedings. Shane reminded Owens of what exactly went down last week and why he had to step up as the referee before bringing out Aiden's opponent and telling Owens to clear the ring. Owens then joined the announce table for color commentary.

4) Aiden English "def." Sami Zayn by pinfall in 2:14. In the middle of the match, Kevin Owens took the referee's shirt of and put it on himself. He then laid out Sami with the Pop-Up Powerbomb and counted the pin for Aiden. That can't possibly count as an official finish.

Shane McMahon said that the previous match did not count (thank god) and that Owens has already left the building.

Dolph Ziggler said that what he has planned for his big change would take longer than just until tonight and it was Little Rock so they weren't worth the effort. Ziggler said he was tired of being an afterthought.

5) Tag Team Champions The Usos def. The New Day (Big E/Kofi Kingston) in a Non-Title Pick the Stipulation match by pinfall in 2:13 via a rollup on Kofi. Xavier came down to the ring with an "It's Sore" sign and a cast on his leg.

Carmella argues with James Ellsworth about ruining her cash-in plans last week but then Natalya interrupted and threatened to make her the "Baron Corbin of the women's division." Naomi then came in and reminded Nattie that she gets her rematch in two weeks.

6) Tamina [w/Lana] def. Tina Stock (?) by pinfall in 56 seconds with a superkick. After the match, Lana had photographers take pictures of the duo.

Season 2 of The Fashion Files (Back 2 Basics) had Breezango continue to investigate who their mystery assailant was and accused Aiden English of being the one behind it all. "To Be Continued."

7) Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura def. WWE Champion Jinder Mahal & Rusev by pinfall in 7:36 when Nakamura hit Rusev with Kinshasa. After the match, Orton planted Nakamura with an RKO outta nowhere to get the psychological edge on next week's match.

    First.

So does anyone else think the Authors of Pain will debut tonight as Breezango’s mystery assailants? Will that secret even be revealed tonight? How would you like to see the AOP debut? And do you think there are any other surprises in store for tonight’s show?

    • drew

I agree on Rusev lately but not Jinder.

    • drew

      truth!

  • drew

    oh good grief.

  • S.A.M.

best thing about Jinder is his graphics for his entrance

  • Brendan Wahl

    I love Jinder #noshame

  • drew

still dont buy jinder as a main eventer.

  • S.A.M.

back to the same old promo from Jinder

    • Brendan Wahl

      Solid

    • drew

      boring.

  • David F

Jinder is prob one of the worst WWE champions of all time

  • drew

blah blah same shit as ususal.

  • CJ Blaze

    Now they’re representing Asia?

    • S.A.M.

because obviously Shinsuke cant be doing that

  • S.A.M.

so Jinder went from only representing India to now all of Asia…..

  • Scott

So ready for a CREDIBLE WWE Champion

    • drew

      yessssss.

  • Brendan Wahl

Jinder is great. I hope he breaks Bruno’s record.

    • drew

      …….

  • drew

    this is dumb.

  • David F

it should be kiss my ass club

  • S.A.M.

  • Brendan Wahl

    Jinder 4 President

  • Asukalanchian

I kind of hope that Rusev turns on Mahal

    • drew

      thats intriguing.

      • Asukalanchian

I just feel there has to come a time where Rusev is tired of the hating in America and starts to believe in the American dream(not the wrestler)

        • drew

          agree

  • CJ Blaze

We’re gonna have a long drawn out build to HIAC. Hope they keep it entertaining.

    • drew

that will be hard but because its with mahal. lool.

  • S.A.M.

i hope the open challenge becomes Glorious

  • CJ Blaze

Tonight is already giving me the same (good) vibes SD had a year ago.

    • Brendan Wahl

      Last week’s show was great

  • CJ Blaze

Ziggler wants to prove himself tonight. Could be the one who answers the open challenge.

  • Brendan Wahl

    Orton better lose next week.

    • drew

      he will

      • 1degenerate

Because of a Rusev run in.

  • drew

    hmmm

  • Mandy

They should change Ascension’s gimmick, they are actually entertaining in Breezango’s segments.

  • S.A.M.

    that theme is awesome

  • Brendan Wahl

    This team won’t last.

    • CJ Blaze

Was just thinking the same thing. That’ll be fun.

  • drew

    shelton is turning

  • Scott

You know…..something I havent seen in a long time…..ref “not seeing the tag.”

  • CJ Blaze

    I miss American Alpha 1.0

  • S.A.M.

hmmm i wonder if they will do a tag team hell in a cell match…..

    • CJ Blaze

They HAVE to take advantage of this opportunity.

      • S.A.M.

        indeed

  • drew

hope we see some surprises with the us open challenge

    • Brendan Wahl

      Ten!

  • drew

    damn

  • CJ Blaze

    AJ Styles is straight fiiiire

  • Brendan Wahl

    Wow… AJ buried Tye.

  • drew

    seriously? they just ruined dillenger.

  • CJ Blaze

I don’t really think it did anything to Tye. It’s not like he was that credible, plus he actually showed more of what he can do tonight than in the last few months.

    • Brendan Wahl

He lost in less than a minute…

    • drew

      nah that was a buirial.

      • CJ Blaze

Rusev at SummerSlam was a burial.

        • Brendan Wahl

          Both were

    • Mandy

It was a burial, they could have at least had the match last a while. Let it look like Tye had a chance at winning instead of letting him get buried like that. In the open challenges with Cena he gave fans a chance to see what other wrestlers can do. This was just disappointing.

    • S.A.M.

it just felt like Tye was used at the expense of furthering the story with AJ and Corbin.

  • Brendan Wahl

In comparison, John Cena had a ten minute match with Stardust.

  • drew

i hope mike bennett is ok and gets the help he needs.

    • S.A.M.

im just glad he had the power to get the help he needs. so many people struggle with addiction.

  • Simon Veitch

So what’s happening with Mike Bennett? I mean, they came up, and all he’s really done is get his ass kicked

    • drew

have you not heard the latest

      • Simon Veitch

I know about the rehab issues and all that, I’m on top of all that, but that doesn’t necessarily warrant having him come out and get his ass kicked whenever he gets in the ring.

        • Brendan Wahl

I just don’t think they’re impressed with his work.

          • Simon Veitch

Yeah, my biggest concern is that the guy will get the Wyatt treatment, where he acts all high and mighty backstage and in promos and then gets killed in the ring. Rinse, Repeat. It’s still way early, but his career has effectively started slow to say the least.

        • drew

ahhh then idk before the issues. ive heard rumors that they thought he was consitentlyout of shape or something like that

    • Brendan Wahl

He’s been clean for two months.

  • CJ Blaze

HIAC matches this year should be: Nakamura vs. Mahal, Shane vs. KO, New Day vs. Usos

  • drew

hes right. smackdown live isnt the land of opportunity. other wise sami rowan luke harper etc would be getting a opportunity.

    • CJ Blaze

If they were, then Mahal, Roode, Styles, etc. wouldn’t be. All about timing.

      • drew

        they got crappy timing then.

  • drew

    i spoke too soon? lol.

  • Brendan Wahl

How does that even make sense?

  • drew

    sigh. lame.

  • CJ Blaze

Low key worried we’re getting KO vs. Zayn first.

    • drew

at least sami would have some sort of direction but we will see.

      • CJ Blaze

Another loss. Which is why I have no interest.

        • drew

so its better hes off tv completely then.

    • Brendan Wahl

But that finish doesn’t make any sense. So anyone can just put a ref shirt on and count the pin?

  • S.A.M.

the winner of this tag match has to pick it to be in hell in a cell. i mean it has been plenty of time since the last tag team hiac

  • Brendan Wahl

I’ve got a challenge for everyone. One lower card wrestler on Smackdown who has never won any titles who you’d like to see get a run with the WWE Title.

    • drew

sami zayn for me. no question. then luke harper

    • David F

the Beethoven of WWE Aiden English

  • Brendan Wahl

OK! Shane said the match was a no contest. Thank God. That made no sense.

  • S.A.M.

there are many people in wwe now that do it in the ring better than Dolph

  • Brendan Wahl

I’m intrigued by Dolph’s new thing roasting everyone.

  • S.A.M.

so his new gimmick is just to remind us of other gimmicks

    • Brendan Wahl

I’m sure there will be more to it than that.

  • S.A.M.

    damn Lana

  • David F

liked the Corbin insult by Nattie

  • CJ Blaze

    Odd

  • S.A.M.

i would like it better if it was a triple threat with Rusev thrown in there as well

  • S.A.M.

nice to see someone do an armbar with no intention of injuring their opponent

  • drew

    damn jinder bad botch.

    • S.A.M.

well he did botch his finisher at summerslam lol

  • S.A.M.

Orton vs Nakamura should be a good match next week.

  • S.A.M.

    see y’all next week
goodnight and have a good week everybody

  • drew
