WWE taped this week's Smackdown tonight from the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, California. Below are full results:

WWE Smackdown (Airing Friday on SyFy):

* Theodore Long is on commentary with Michael Cole. Long is replacing Josh Mathews this week after Kane's attack on Mathews.

* Randy Orton opens the show with a promo. He says that he wants a shot at Sheamus' World Heavyweight Championship and challenges him. Sheamus comes out and agrees to the challenge, saying that he'd prefer Orton to Alberto Del Rio, who he calls a "complainer." Booker T comes out to address the situation before he is interrupted by Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez. Del Rio wants a rematch with Sheamus, and accuses Sheamus of cheating at SummerSlam. Booker T makes a #1 Contender match for tonight between Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio. The winner will face Sheamus at Night of Champions.

* Ryback b. Jinder Mahal with his fisherman buster. Before the match, Ryback cut a promo in which he swore revenge for what Mahal had done to him.

* Layla b. Alicia Fox. Kaitlyn was on commentary for the match, and entered the ring after the match to have a staredown with Layla. Eve came out and raised both Layla and Kaitlyn's hands.

* Backstage, Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero are discussing Sheamus. Sheamus interrupts them and dares Ziggler to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase tonight.

* Sheamus b. Dolph Ziggler by disqualification when Ziggler attacked Sheamus with the Money in the Bank briefcase. Ziggler considered cashing it in, but ran away as Sheamus began to recover.

* Santino Marella cuts a promo in the ring about losing the United States Championship at SummerSlam. He then begins asking the Cobra about the loss before being interrupted by Antonio Cesaro and Aksana. Cesaro proclaims that he is a winner in five languages. A brawl breaks out and Aksana once again provides a distraction for the Cobra, which allows Cesaro to take out Santino.

* Kofi Kingston & R-Truth b. Primo & Epico. R-Truth got the pin. The Prime Time Players were ringside during the match and stared down the champions after the match.

* Backstage, The Prime Time Players interrupt Matt Striker's interview with Kofi Kingston & R-Truth. PTP start to make fun of Little Jimmy. Eventually, The Usos, Primo, & Epico all get involved and a brawl breaks out.

* Backstage, Booker T and Theodore Long discuss which tag team should be the new #1 Contenders. Eve walks up with win/loss records of the four teams and tells Booker that she has organized his schedule. Booker thanks Eve and begins to ignore Long.

* Alberto Del Rio b. Randy Orton by submission with the cross armbreaker. Sheamus was on commentary for the match. After the match, Del Rio threw a shoe at Sheamus, starting a brawl between the two. Del Rio hit Sheamus with the shoe again, knocking him out. Dolph Ziggler then ran out with the Money in the Bank briefcase, but Randy Orton hit Ziggler with an RKO. Del Rio walks up the ramp staring at Orton and Sheamus to end the show.

    Ryback finally speaks!

    • ryder

    • xChristenLynnx

You mean he says more then just Feed Me More

  • Anand

Just hope Del Rio does not beat Orton to become the no.1 contender again. I cannot bear to see him cut yet another promo about his destiny or how Sheamus or all of us are peasants…

This sheamus vs del rio feud is getting too boring to bear. C'mon let orton win and turn heel and have a good feud with Sheamus…

    • CrankyVince

It’s been boring since it started! That’s why Jericho and Orton were added to their first match.

  • CrankyVince

Epico & Primo should be tag champs again! Or Gabriel and Kidd or The Usos.

  • alex

So now that a long feud has happened, people are complaining? God damn, y’all can’t be pleased! I know its a boring feud but its what you wanted.

    • CrankyVince

People want lengthy, GOOD feuds bro…

      • alex

Yeah well its lengthy. You get what you get

    • ryder

Just because its a long feud doesnt make it good

    • Anand

People want feuds that are interesting where either person can add some heat to the feud. Does Del Rio have anything new to offer apart from his regular bland promo's? Yes, we all love to hate arrogant & cocky heels but this guy cant even act that part out well. An expression less face, modulation less voice and dull or even boringly dull promo talent…

C'mon – Enough of thrusting del rio down our throats. Give Sheamus a better feud or let him get some rest. Him not fighting is 10 times better than him fighting with del rio…

  • Daniel Lim'ass

yet again, we have to watch del Rio vs Sheamus part 143. Boring

    • SDD619

A long fued yes, but Sheamus & Del Rio is obviously not what we want. Orton & Christian kept it fresh, But Sheamus is a lackluster champion

  • xChristenLynnx

come on enough with the Del Rio vs Sheamus match it is so old

  • Sjenttivensventa

Del rio is a classic case of shoving something Down our throats of what we do not want to see

    • Joe

      Great analysis….

  • jdl

God, more Del Rio vs. Shamus? Such a bland feud.

  • SDD619

By the looks of it Smackdown had nothing but Brawls. More action maybe?

  • Mohammad Abulawi

oh god not this again eve becomes the better one and im thinking booker t turn's heel makes teddy work for him like clown feet did, and NO MORE DELRIO vs Sheamus please please anyone even heath slater vs sheamus will be better

  • Mr Snaps

Pero, I hit you with my shoooes.

    Alberto Del Reebok

  • stoney

Alberto del Rio is probably the blandest character on WWE TV. Del Rio’s ring announcer is more over with the crowd than he is. A manager/valet/announcer is supposed to compliment their talent, not overshadow them. I don’t think that Ricardo Rodriguez is anything special, but he’s connecting with the live audience more than del Rio, which should be a concern for WWE management. Just look at a live crowd on PPV or on Raw when del Rio’s talking. It’s as if they couldn’t care less about what he’s saying. Then, when you watch him on Smackdown when he’s talking, the camera shots of the crowd don’t show them reacting to del Rio, but there’s still crowd noise being piped in. That’s a sure-fire sign that something is wrong. I’m not saying that del Rio can’t go in the ring, because he can, but his overall character isn’t good enough to be a main-eventer. The JBL character worked because Bradshaw was the kind of heel that could talk on the mic and incite the crowd enough to make them want to pay to see him get his ass kicked. That’s the heel’s job. Del Rio doesn’t do that. He just bores me to tears. WWE have invested heavily into del Rio over the last two years and to be honest, I don’t think he’s worth it. His character is bland, he can barely cut a decent promo and he’s just not connecting with a live WWE crowd. That’s why he was shipped back to Smackdown earlier this year, so they can create heat for him. I’ve been wrong before, and I probably will be again, but to me, del Rio is bland, boring and brutal to listen to. His gimmick is mid-card at best and I think it’s time WWE realised that and stopped forcing us to accept mediocre as main-event.

    • drew1997

You would be surprised to know that Ricardo is actually better in the ring

    • dave c

if i could have liked this post more then once, i have liked at about 20 times, you are so right. I was a fan of his when he wrestled in mexico, he was amazing, but in the WWE he sunk faster then then a lead shot in the ocean

  • matt

When is WWE gonna give up on Del Rio? he can't even get a pop from a champagne bottle

    • david

      hahahahaha awesome comment

  • British bulldog

Another episode of SD to pass on this week! I ain’t watched it in months!

  • Mike Brailsford

Booker ignores Teddy. Sense a storyline here ?

  • Dave Barton

Sheamus vs ADR is the new Jimmy Valiant vs Paul Jones…

  • Logan_Walker

Orton taps? Haven’t seen that since 2009.

  • Chapinb0yy

They are really punishing orton. Making him tap out. Leaving him out of summerslam. I give it a month or two before hes competing for the world title again -.-

  • Gary

They left him off S-Slam because when he came back it was just before the PPV and they didnt see any reason to get him in a feud for the show w/ that little time left to build it. Plus even after he tapped they still had him get his heat back by RKOing Dolph. Plus Randy was the only face left standing and Sheamus was down from the shoe attack.

  • Robbie

I thought Teddy was on commentary? And yet he is backstage with Booker and Eve…..

  • Korwegian

Del Rio should go back to mma so Cro Cop can kick his head off again.

  • Joe

I’m going to watch smackdown simply because I want to see orton tap out, did not see that comIng

    • Moe

      Yes, Joe!

However Sheamus AND ADR are getting old now.

  • tylort56

Let Dolph cash in already! Sheamus is getting boring, hes becoming th next super cena, cant stand it!

  • Jeremy

Dolphs not ready yet, so i'm glad he hasn't cashed in yet. They can't give orton a title shot so soon after he was suspended, so that leaves…del rio….or tensai…which one is better? Big Show would really be the only other option for a heel right now, there aren't any other heels built up enough for sheamus to go against. They let del rio cash in his money in the bank too early and you see what we got for it…Let ziggler build himself up a little bit more and cement himself as a top heel before giving him the gold

  • birdlegs

please give Ryback some real competition or get him out of there, it is sooooooo boring watching the same thing from him every week. Feed him a real wrestler,PLEASE!!!!!!!

  • Losing Hope

man come on wwe give it up…listen to the "universe" we dont want to see del rio get any more shots for the title, he got more shots than anybody he stil hasnt won so why are you guys stuffing that PEASENT down our throats if you dont even have the confidence to put him over, there are waaayy more deserving talented athletes who should have a shot for the belt, the ONLY WAY ill go for rio over sheamus is if wwe writers FINALLY DECIDE to let ziggler cash in on rio, and bonus would be if rio had the title less than 45 secs (big show) change it up guys with the loss of so many top cards nows the time to push more talent, take advantage of that, book wisely and stop putting that winey sore losing weak ring skill of a wrestler who sucks on the mic, in the main event…wwe making alot of bad decision no wonder tna is getting all your wrestlers and diva…AND REFEREES FOR FUCK SAKE
