Stephanie McMahon Comments On Raw's Expansion; Says Audience Will Have Chance To Effect Something Every Week, WWE Blunder

- IGN has a new piece online with quotes from Stephanie McMahon where she discusses the WWE Raw Supershow expansion to three hours. Below is an excerpt:

“It’s going to be the first-ever regularly scheduled three-hour program on television and I think we’ve got a pretty good handle on it thus far! You know, we do a three hour show called a Pay-Per-View almost every month and Monday Night RAW, we’ve done three hours before, so we feel great about it. “

“This is going to be the most interactive show in television history. Our audience is going to have the chance to effect something in the show every week.” As far as what the audience would be determining, she said it would be, “Matches, stipulations, anything and everything. Different things every week.”

- WWE has a blunder over on dot com where they list John Cena as the winner in his match against John Laurinaitis at last night's Over the Limit pay-per-view. You can view the error at this link. (Thanks to WNW reader Brian for sending this in.)

Even though WWE doesn't really "pay any attention" to TNA, it seems they do about the same things around the same time. TNA came out with the Fight Night shows where they let the audience get involved, and now WWE is coiming out with the Raw Supershow where the audience can get involved.

Remember taboo Tuesday and cyber Sunday? Pretty sure wwe did this first

gimmicks gimmicks too many gimmicks in my opinion they should look more into the past than the future. the attitude era was so great that they shouldn’t of changed it. the only thing legit in the pg era was HHH and The Undertaker. screw the 5 year olds and bring some real legitamisy .McMahon is old and corrupted. he’s made some really insane decisions with michael cole replacing JR. and releasing stars like Chris masters Vladimir kozlov mr. Anderson and bobby lashley. WWE needs a change and it needs a change now!!!!

        • Matt Scott

Masters worked his ass off but would never have made it in WWE. Kozlov… I won't even answer that. Anderson has made no effort to improve his ring work, in fact he's just got over weight and useless. Lashley… His mic work was terrible. "I say your name is Finlay and you're a bastard" was one of the funniest things ever because it was that bad. Everyone complains WWE has got crap, but it's actually managed to attain a three hour slot (not many shows can do that weekly) and TNA can't A) Survive on a Monday as was proven and B) even go live!

Yep, you nailed it, WWE is ripping off TNA, because they didn't do it before TNA ever thought about it.

Not only that, but Hulk Hogan is a way better GM that Johnny Ace!

  • Sam the Man.

    Taboo Monday??

  • Patrick_Peralta

In Steph's own words " Our audience is going to have the chance to effect something in the show every week."

Good first order of business Fire Big Johnny and Cole and bring back JR. enough said.

    • Matt Scott

Question. You ever stop to think about JR? You ever think he might ENJOY not travelling week in week out?

    • A.C.

      I totally agree!

    • A.C.

Fire Johnny and Cole ought to be a slogan.

    • Logan_Walker

Patrick i respect you like many more over here but Keep Big Johnny & Cole dont bring back JR Leave him for the PPV like WM some where to add more class & heritage to matches mainly Undertakers Matches and JR has to travel to FCW Grounds, then he does do other work on the side so he should only be kept on with the wwe for special ppvs

First ever Regularly Scheduled 3 hour program on television? Aparently Stephanie wasnt allowed to watch WCW Nitro

  • Brandon

everytime they have a 3 hour show they talk for 2 and half hour out of 3 hours

  • paulw3000

    Manipulation Monday… (I’m gonna copyright this… (c)2012… There done)

  • thatguy

"It’s going to be the first-ever regularly scheduled three-hour program on television" I really think she for got this is exactly what WCW use to do and how horrible it was

  • _JIM_

Nitro was a 3 hour regularly scheduled program and it tanked big time. Over exposure is a bad thing and WWE isn’t learning from the mistakes others have made. I could see making Raw 3 hours if they totally cancelled Smackdown, but not if they keep both shows and add an hour to Raw.

    • Judas86

I'd say it would all depend on the content of the show. In my opinion, and from what I've seen online I am not alone in this thinking, what killed 3-hour nitro was 2 hours of nwo storylines that were rarely resolved, and a handful of matches(squash) involving the local jobber vs. named guy.

The reason wcw nitro 3 hour didn’t make it is because Vince was not behind it, wcw wrestlers admited that there were many times when wcw went on the air and they had no idea what they were going to do on the show, no discipline no direction no wcw. Raw will be fine with 3 hours, can’t wait.
