Steve Austin Says He Could Get More Out Of CM Punk Than Anybody Else

The Boston Herald has a new article online featuring quotes from Steve Austin. In it, Austin referred to his match against Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XIV as “half ass” and “mediocre.”

Austin talked about regretting not facing Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania XVIII

“I don’t know what the hell was in my head,” said Austin. “I didn’t really care to work with him. At the time, I just didn’t really think that much of Hogan. I was caught up living pretty fast and being Stone Cold and didn’t care for it to happen.”

He also spoke about CM Punk being burned out.

“Punk’s fed up with not main-eventing WrestleMania,” said Austin.

“I could get more out of that guy than anybody else walking Planet Earth,” said Austin. “He could have that ultimate ‘Come to Jesus’ meeting with me. Punk’s been around for a long time and he’s a smart guy, but he never stepped into a damn squared circle with the intensity of a guy like Stone Cold Steve Austin.”

I dont know about that because I would rather see Punk v Bryan main eventing Wrestlemania in terms of wrestling quality than Punk v Austin.

the story of an austin v punk fued is way more intriguing than any story of any other 2 wrestlers around today in my opinion, i woudnt watch it for the wrestling quality, which would still be above average anyway

That match would be a train wreck. About the only good thing that will come out of it would be some interesting dialogue. But besides that I don’t see the draw. Punk is in his prime, and the last time Austin wrestled he almost had a heart attack.

        • ryan25

thats my point, the promos and build to that much would be off the charts entertaining, who wouldnt want to see two of the most believable talkers of all time go back and forth, the match itself would be good enough on top of that, not perfect ring work but good enough.

          • Steve pritchard

I just don’t see Austin working in the ring anymore . The last time he wrestled he almost had a heart attack back in 03. It’s 2014! Time to move on from the Punk/Austin, Sting/Taker dream matches. Austin had his chance for a match with punk last year. I find it funny he’s talking about it now that Punk isn’t in the picture. He has a totally different attitude now that punk is on his sabbatical . It would take more than great mic exchanges to sell this match. Would be nothing short of a train wreck.

How is that more intriguing??? And better wrestling quality?!?!?! SC wasn’t a wrestler he was brawler imo

        • Jason Bagemehl

Austin has the ability to have a great wrestling match. Just watch the hart austin match from MW. Austin could be a tech wrestler…its just that the brawling version is what the masses ate up.

          • Steve pritchard

That match was also a long time ago. The last time we saw Austin in the ring was at wm19 against the rock. That evening Austin was taken to the hospital with symptoms of a heart attack. So I highly doubt he could put on anything close to the hart/Austin match from years back. It’s 2014 ! The chances for these so called dream matches have evaporated with time. It’s time to move on. And get some of these newer stars established. Leave the dinosaurs at the museum .

    • Steve pritchard

Agreed . That match would sell wrestlemania on its own.

    Sounds like it’s an invitation

What if Stone Cold is in the battle Royal ?

    • Steve pritchard

I just don’t see him in the ring again. He may show up to stun someone. But I think the ship sailed on him wrestling again . But I could be wrong .

Funny how Austin says he could of got more out of Punk then anyone else seeing how he had his chance too comeback and work with Punk and didnt take it. Austin isn’t fooling me. Does anyone here honesty think Austin would comeback and put Punk over clean or anyone else for that matter?

    • RollsReus

      I do.

    • Bob’s Diner

Nope. No way in hell he would. You are bang on – all of a sudden he’s keen for the match now that CM Punk losing wouldn’t matter. I’m just loving his attitude about refusing to work against Hogan as well

    • Steve pritchard

Agreed! Austin’s ego is bigger than the entire roster including HHH’s ego put together. This match would be a train wreck like taker/sting.imo
