The Return Of The Corporation, Orton’s Reign, WWE Without Cena, Another Injury For Sin Cara

Maybe it’s just me, but seeing the McMahons, Hunter and chosen champ Randy Orton, just screamed to me the new corporation and maybe Daniel Bryan as the next rebel like Stone Cold.

I absolutely liken the current WWE title situation and subsequent Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan program to the Corporation faction of the Attitude Era. This week’s Monday Night Raw was largely forgettable until the final segment, which I felt was well done. I couldn’t help but feel nostalgic over Daniel Bryan out to oppose the McMahon family and being “beat down” as a result. One of the reasons I was in favor of Orton “cashing in” on Bryan [at SummerSlam] is because I felt it would increase crowd reactions on both sides. If this week’s Raw was any indication that is exactly what has happened. Despite his very brief WWE title reign, Daniel Bryan is more over now than he ever has been in his entire career. Could Bryan be the next Steve Austin? We’re off to a good start and it’s exciting to see it evolve.

How do you feel Randy Orton’s run as the “Corporate Champion” will compare to the runs of The Rock, Steve Austin, etc?

With John Cena out, it’s up to Randy Orton to carry WWE. He has finally regained the trust of Vince McMahon following last year’s Wellness Policy violation and is now the top heel in the company. I don’t want to “wish away” the program with Daniel Bryan but I want to see a feud between Orton and CM Punk for the WWE title. WWE would be best suited to leave the belt on Orton for a while to help establish his new spot as the top heel.

With John Cena’s injury and his upcoming 4-6 month absence from the ring, there will be many superstars willing and able to step up to the plate. How do you see such an extended absence for “the face of the franchise” affecting his status in the company?

John Cena will still be the “face of WWE” when he returns from injury but let’s face it, Cena needs some time off. I’ve heard over the course of the last year WWE officials were worried about Cena burning out physically and mentally and while no one wants to see it happen like this, some time away should be good for him. I worry the Cena character is as stale as ever but WWE doesn’t appear to changing it anytime soon.

Considering the fact that this will be the 4th time Sin Cara will have been out for an injury since he signed, and on the first move of the match no less, should WWE just cut their losses with him?

The stock of Sin Cara seems to be at an all-time low. It just hasn’t worked out. WWE hoped they would sign him and have a seamless transition from Rey Mysterio, however, Cara’s run in WWE has been marred by a Wellness violation and injuries. I don’t want to see anyone lose their job but Cara’s run in WWE has not worked.

  • You know

As much as Bryan is over! Just feel punk would be best suited as the person going after orton and the mcmahons.

    • John

I completely agree. With the combination of the mcmahons new corporation they have going and CM punks talent it could be epic. I think punk is more suited to be the rebel like austin because he is more like that anyway. Also just have to point out punks segment where he called out the fat guy in the crowd was just classic :)

    • JJ

Just wait; it will eventually have Punk and DB together as Heyman and his guys will join the corporation ha.

  • Ricky

I can see The Corporation adding people like Curtis Axel, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman because they are “Good for business.” In addition to the guys they already have who are The Shield, Orton, HHH, Steph and Vince. I can also see them feuding with Bryan, Punk, Ziggler, Big Show and Mark Henry. I kind of like the angle they have where DB is “liked” by HHH and Steph but they don’t see him as the face of the WWE.

    • dean

cena will never turn heel. wwe needs him to stay babyface because he is a good guy in real life.
I am sick and tired of smart fans comparing him to Hogan.
Hogan was always a phoney and a con artist. in the 1980′s, he was shooting up with drugs while telling kids to stay clean. he is a complete con man and is a washed up has been in 2013.

    • Sandeep Agarwal

Ziggler, Henry and Big Show may join DB against Corporation because of Shield. But i don’t see Heyman and his gang, specially Lesnar joining Corporation. Why would HHH join hands with the guy who broke it several times just a few months ago? On the other hand what if Lesnar turns face against HHH? It may also happen that it’s only Orton vs. DB with McMahon family supporting Orton. That is what i’m liking about this feud, there is a possibility of adding so many people and so many different angles.

      • Ricky

Remember the history between Orton and The McMahon family? Look at where they are now. It’s totally possible using the whole “They are doing it for the future gimmick.”
Though I could see Brock turn face claiming he should be the face of the WWE and not Orton.
Like ya said, lots of possibilities.

        • Sandeep Agarwal

HHH vs. Orton happened 4 years ago. HHH vs. Lesnar started last year in April and ended 3 months ago. There is a big difference. And even if they try the “doing it for future” thing with Lesnar like they did with Orton, it will look silly. That’s why i think it’s not going to happen.

    • Dan

There’s your survivor series match. Bryan, Punk, Ziggle, Show, & Henry vs RKO, HHH, & the Shield

      • John

That would be a pretty epic match. :)

    • Alain Alfred Corpuz

Axel and Heyman is possible but not Brock. I also see Big E or Ryback join the Corp too.

  • D-Bag

I’d never wish serious injury on anyone, but I sure am looking forward to four to six months of Cena free Raw.

    • dean

cean will still be on raw even if he can’t wrestle. he is wwe’s top star and wwe needs him on tv during football season on Monday nights to maintain its ratings.

      • Ricky

I’d love to see Cena turn heel and join the McMahons.

        • thepowerserge

Will never happen. At least not while he’s doing the whole Make A Wish stuff. Kind of makes it hard to ask for him if he were a heel.

          • mike

i think its going to be good for him to be off a while. look what happened when cm punk was off for a while, went away a heel, came back a monster face. I,m actually looking forward to him returning and i,ve been against him ever since he 1st won the world title. Its basically impossible to turn him heel unless parents refuse to buy his merchandise for their kids. I just wish they would let him respond properly to the fans. i noticed during his match with daniel bryan he was showing the fans that he cared a bit. If you watch the first 5 knuckle shuffle he looks around first almost in disbelief and things like that if done with more intensity would do the job for him. Last weeks promo on raw where he talks about fighting for those who believe in him, all he has to do is follow that up with “as for the ones who boo me no matter what i do, well they can kiss my ass” the crowd would cheer him. the worst part is if he ever turns heel, the fans will all cheer him. I,m hoping he comes back and just shows a bit of attitude when he does. Right now it just reminds me of rocky maivia smiling when he lost. they can,t keep letting him be “okay” with people booing him when hes a face.

          • Dan

How bout he comes back as “Chain Gang” Cena? I will admit I liked Cena back then but now he’s corny, but I do appreciate all he does and have the utmost respect for the guy. What he does for Make a Wish is truly amazing!

          • thepowerserge

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Except for the part about cheering him if he showed some attitude.

          • Snap

Whether he’s face or heel doesn’t make a difference with Make a Wish. WWE just doesn’t shove a heel’s Make a Wish involvement down our throat in sad attempts to bribe fans to cheer (or, at the very least, NOT boo) for them.

When Daniel Bryan was a heel, whether it was through Make a Wish or not, he granted his first wish.

    • Justin Lal

It’s going to be real hard for WWE to fill three hours every week without Cena. Last night’s episode dragged.

  • Eddie Edwards

If it wasn’t Daniel Bryan people would be complaining about rehashing an old gimmick.

  • dean

There is no way in hell that wwe will keep cena off of tv for 4 to 6 months. usa network wants cena on tv for ratings purposes even if he can’t work fake matches.
I am sick and tired of so called “smart” fans who bash cena because he is a good guy in real life and on tv.
wwe is entertainment. it is a business. wrestling is not “real”. it is a show. it is not a “sport”.
the attitude era is dead. ted turner is gone. wcw is dead. tna does not have the money to challenge wwe and has been Hogan is 60 years old and is washed up.
Hogan is not a star anymore and has the drawing power of a 76 year old Bruno sammartino in 2013 which is zero.
if fans really cared about wwe, they would not wish ill on cena because he is basically carrying the entire pro wrestling industry on his back for the past 10 years.
Austin is nearly 50. rock is a legitimate actor and will only return to wwe if vince begs him to come back during his free time.

  • Xavier

Richard, CM Punk had his shot to replace Cena back in 2011/early 2012. While Punk’s stock has risen considerably in that time he failed to take Cena’s spot despite having the opportunity. Punk will never be the face of the company. It’s Bryan’s time to shine, he’s that dude right now. He’s the one who deserves the big pay off of beating Orton, not Punk.

    • Justin Lal

Speaking of Punk does anyone care to mention the classlessness he showed last night to the fan? A simple boo and this jackass gets bent out of shape. Does this moron realize he’s a face? Yesterday was a prime example why Punk could never overtake John Cena.

      • Xavier

Yeah Punk’s track record with fans is pretty lousy at best. Never realized Punk was that sensitive. For a guy who claims he doesn’ care what people think or say about him, he sure was upset about the 3 or 4 fans that booed him last night.

        • Cubed56

My man, I think your one of the more intelligent people that comment on here and respect the hell out of you, but your always quick to tear down anything punk, and defend anything cena. Hypocritical a bit? Lol

          • Xavier

It’s the truth, look at Punk’s record with the fans and tell me I’m wrong. I’ve always said Punk is great at what he does, he’s super talented and very entertaining but I’ve never liked the dude’s attitude outside the ring. If he’s not complaining about his push he’s getting into it with some fan in attendance or on twitter. If Cena or anyone else was the one doing this stuff I’d be saying the same stuff about them as well. Let me ask you this, if Orton had hit a fan in the stands or called a fan a homo or got into a twitter war with Chris Brown you think the IWC would turn the other check the way they have with Punk?

          • Cubed56

I know where your coming from, I agree with you punk should not have hit a fan, shouldn’t bash the company he works for. But when someone attacks you personally, you respond. Thats why people love punk, he is just like them, an everyday person. If cena had done that to a fan last night, I’d have no problem with it either, you have the right to defend yourself, all be it wasn’t the best example of professionalism on punks part, but he stood up for himself and basically did what most men would do. I know the fan paid his hard earned money to be there, but that doesn’t give him the right to attack punk or any other performer personally. Yes you can yell you suck and that stuff, but if they cross a certain line, why can’t they be called out? And yes the Iwc has turned thier cheek with Orton also, remember he once spit in the face of a fan at a house show, and use to dedicate in other performers duffel bags, not to mention his wellness violations. Yes he has never struck a fan, but he’s done alot of things that the Iwc has turned there cheek to also. To clarify this wasn’t a personal attack on you, just a funny thing between us, cause I know u give me crap for defending punk and bashing cena, but you do the opposite, and that’s what I like, it makes our back and forths great.

          • Xavier

I feel you, I know it wasn’t an attack on me. And very good points you bring up about Orton. It’s funny you being those incidents up because I was watching his DVD the other day and he himself admitted he was a massive douche. Cena. Triple H and some others even backed up that claim lol. I really hope Orton doesn’t do anything stupid while he has the title on him because it could ruin this great angle.

          • Cubed56

It was hard to clearly hear him with all the other fans, but at one point you could clearly hear him say something about his mother and him calling punk an f’ing loser like the rest of his family. Now the loser thing shouldn’t have gotten to punk personally as we know he’s highly successful, but its no secret punk has had issues with his personal family(alcoholic father, unstable mother) and I believe that’s what set him off. Like I said it wasn’t the best professionalism on punks part, but I don’t blame him for it. I think it was a combination of the entire attack from the fan, and punk just had enough. Also agree with orton, he better not mess up, but if he does I think they will cover it up until the angle is over, then cut there losses because “that’s good for business”, lol.

          • Dan

Try to not forget though. Punk has always been more of a tweener than anything. He’s never full blooded heel/face

        • thepowerserge

I too have been noticing a pattern in your comments. Seems like you almost have a gripe about either Punk or Bryan no matter what happens. I don’t know where this is coming from, but I’d like to read some positive notes once in a while. As far as the matter at hand is concerned, I also heard the barbs and insults the fan in question was hurling Punk’s way and I can’t fault Punk for reacting at all. I’m pretty sure you’d be pissed off if someone went after your family like that too. While I do realize they’re SUPPOSED to be these larger than life personalities, they’re also men and women with families like ours. And no matter what the circumstances in their personal lives, no one deserves to be attacked like that.

          • Xavier

When have I ever said anything negative about Bryan? The thing with Punk is that he’s not the first wrestler to have a fan heckle him or say something personal about his personal life but they had sense enough to ignore it.

          • thepowerserge

If I made a mistake, I’m sorry. But I do appreciate the level of wrestling knowledge posted regularly on this site by all.

          • Mike

i,m a massive cm punk fan and when he first got his big push i loved his style of saying what was on his mind, but since then in my opinion especially in the last few months, it seems to me he may be heading onto total divas with his attitude.

          • Malboja

Personally I like it when punk went off on that guy it reminds me of the old days when guys would call out people in the crowd lets face it it’s ment to “be real” and if someone was giving you crap you would give it back and the reason punk really shot up was a promo which he spoke his mind I just see it as part of his personer now to always speak his mind

          • TheTruth

Maybe you should think like you act for once and realize that by having this verbal assault on the fan carried on the story of him being pissed off at Heyman, and got cheers from the crowd. And i doubt the guy in the crowd was really that bothered he probably enjoyed the attention, its not often you get singled out by a superstar

        • steve pritchard

I actually had a chance to meet the guy a few weeks back at a live taping in Atlanta. For an asshole he sure signed a lot of autographs and shook alot of hands . He actually walked in the stands with the crowd not far from where I was sitting. I don’t get why people are so quick to judge this guy. Orton is a way bigger asshole than punk could ever be but no one jumps on him . It makes no sense

          • Xavier

Well I have a few friends who have met him, a few said he was real standoffish and a few said he signed for him. So I guess it all depends I guess. But he’s a had a lot of negative run ins with fans that have made headlines and that’s merely what I’m talking about. Can you see how that would come off negatively to people who haven’t meet him? And I agree, Orton has beena tool himself. I remember when he spat on someone (huge douche move) and BTW, Orton has taken plenty of flack for that among other bone headed things he’s done. More so then Punk has.

      • Cubed56

It was a man in the third row attacking him personally, yelling insults about him and his family, I played it back about 20 times on my surround sound, and I have no problem with how punk reacted, if someone talked to me like that, I’d call them out too.

      • John

Carelessness? Punk is a face but he’s more like the austin face. Also considering almost every other person in the audience was on punks side against the fan then that does make him a face… When are you going to realise that no matter how much you hate on punk he’s not going anywhere

      • Snap

Yet people still moan about wanting the “Attitude Era” back. Do you know who Punk reminded me of with that tirade? Someone by the name of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

So, do people REALLY want the “Attitude” era back, or are they going to get offended and whine whenever Punk (interesting how people only seem to whine when it concerns Punk) does something that isn’t completely dull and sterile. If being like Cena is what it would take for Punk to be the coveted “face of the WWE” then I am perfectly content for Punk to stay just where he is.

    • Sandeep Agarwal

I agree with you about Punk beating Orton for the title. Not because he is not that good but because he has already been a champion for 434 days which ended about 7 months ago. Why put him in a feud for the title again with Orton? While he may be a part of this Corporation feud, i would like to see DB emerging as the champ eventually, not Punk.

  • ESKYMI

Now I know how Cena haters feel. Last night was the first time in years that I skipped an entire main event and that’s just because I dislike Randy Orton. I just read about what happened.

Oh well, as much as I love Daniel Bryan, even he can’t make me watch an entire segment that has Orton in it.

Hopefully the next few months will go by fast so we can put the belt on someone else.

    • thepowerserge

I actually watched the end of RAW last night, and was left with a bitter taste. Mostly because I’ve not liked Orton since he broke away from Legacy. He feels stale and boring. Call him a viper or apex predator all you want, but his best work was back when he was a legend killer. These days, his promos and ring work remind me too much about why I consider him a Cena clone or, more appropriately, Cena Light. Thing is, I don’t know how he can fix it either. The other issue I have and will probably always have with TPTB strapping him is the difference in how a top guy is treated for violating their so called “Wellness Policy” while anyone else will either be suspended or terminated.

      • Dan

Orton is a hell of a wrestler, but his promos SUCK. And this is coming from one of Randy’s biggest fans.

      • Conner Ueckert

last I checked someone that violates a wellness policy has to do it 3 times, orton WAS suspended and was humbled for the better part of the year, your argument of “strapping him is the difference in how a top guy is treated for violating their so called wellness policy” argument is invalid

        • Lrgetrout25

There’s concrete evidence Orton has violated the Wellness Policy more than three times.

          • Mike

true but come on now, do u expect wwe to just release him and let him go to tna?? like him or hate him randy orton is a major draw. People can whinge how unfair it is for other people to have been released for doing it but can u name any of them who have the drawing power of randy orton, the only one close is jeff hardy and lets be honest, not exactly making tna millions is he?

      • Xavier

The wellness policy works the same for everyone. This sounds like the typical “it happened to someone I like so its wrong”

  • Steven

If the Corporation joins with the Wyatt’s (after pretending to feud with them) who are brainwashing and making an extended faction themselves, I’m out. Esp. if Vince is in a black robe again proclaiming “It was my all along, Bryan!”

  • Wreckless discharge

It was super lame of Punk to challenged the guy to get in the ring. Thats what gets folks beaten by security and arrested, and it didnt male punk look like a tough guy it was a heels move, the fans probably was a jerk lots of performers and atlhetes deal with that but you csnt invite a fans onto the ring or onto the field, im a fans of punks work but it was unprofessional , thats why he wont be the true face of the company

    • Tony Rankin

I don’t think Punk cares about being the face of the company. He stated before he doesn’t even like being a face, he enjoys being a heel more. I don’t think what he did last night was anything out of the ordinary for a performer until he called the guy fat. Some people are sensitive and insecure about their weight and I felt that’s the only thing that made Punk come off as unprofessional. Bully Ray used to regularly insult fans and invite them in the ring in TNA but usually fans are good sports about it and understand that its a work.

      • Wreckless discharge

My problem was inviting the guy in the ring. Fams arent allowed in the ring if they attempt to they are taken out by security amd usaly arrested. So its definately a cowardly heels thing to threatened a fans insults their weigjt then invite them in the ring knowing security would tzke them out before they clear the guard rail. Unless the guy was a plant if he was then its all good. If not they are lucky he was a good sport it would be a pr nightmare if he was invoted to the ring then hurt. Fans arent allowed to get in the ring so wrestlers should not challenged them to get in the ring period

  • Tony Rankin

I loved the ending of RAW because it made me feel like a kid again watching the attitude era. Back when nearly every RAW and Smackdown! used to end in a way you’d want to tune in next week to find out what will happen.

  • FactionZer0

I have to say, I have as much hate for Triple H now as I do back when he was in the Attitude Era. I love how the McMahon’s are heel, and Triple H still gets crazy heat. Screw you Triple H<3.

    • Cheese

Triple H as a heel is just so damn great. Its been too long since he was the arrogant guy that everybody hated.

  • Wyatt

I can see it now! In 4-6 months Cena will return to defeat the Corporation

    • Dan

He’ll be back in time for WrestleMania….. I can see that happening honestly…

  • James

How about that Jinder Mahal….. Very captivating last night.

  • dragonicbeast

i dont think they should fire sin cara yes he gets hurt ALOT but at least he competes i think ive see jtg and curt hawkins 3 times this year combined and they are fired.

    • Lalalala

So its ok for sin cara to stop a match with a dislocated finger. John cena worked almost a full match with a much worse injury. Hell HHH even put his injury under more stress for the fans by finishing the planned spots when he hurt his leg. Sin Cara just seems to fall short every time, botches half his moves and then gets injured every 5 moves. People moan about cena only doing 5 moves, well sin cara cant perform 5 moves without getting injured,

  • Shawn M

The DB/McMahons fued is eerily similar to the Stone Cold one. This should be called the “Give me a Hell YES!” storyline. I know. I already regret this post.

    • fddf

We all do it sometimes :)

  • Vaneyscopaz

I believe Daniel will get a night of the champions rematch, lose, them Cm Punk will step in and become top face in the wwe

    • Danny_Boy

CM Punk will never be the top face in the company. Bryan is 1000x better

  • Lrgetrout25

“It’s up to Randy Orton to carry WWE”? Puh-leeze.

  • John

I wish Cena all the best in his recovery. Regardless of what you think of him, it’s never nice to see a guy put on the shelf for such a long time. However the one thing that worries me is that the timetable for his return falls right in line with the Royal Rumble, & i for one do not want to see Cena win the Royal Rumble again so i really hope they go in another direction when he returns.

  • Stoney

I’ve never been more excited for the next episode of Raw. Gotta add some more people to corporate evolution/horsemen.
Big E Langston, Ryback or Mason Ryan as the Batista of the group, maybe a 2nd or 3rd Generation star as the Orton of the group ie Curtis Axel, Bo Dallas or Richie Steamboat.

    • Alain Alfred Corpuz

      3MB babayyyy!!!

    • JJ

Heyman and his guys will join up. He could bring up a tag team or like you mentioned Mason Ryan.

  • Stoney

You know what would’ve gotten the new corporation even more heat? If they shaved off Daniel Bryan’s beard

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Christen-Wilt/100000468609440 Christen Wilt

They really need someone else to play the sin cara role. He is starting to be like Rey Mysterio come back from injury okay few workdays then BAM gets injured

  • Lebron James

I thought Orton was going to have a character/attitude change but it seems like he’s still acting very plain/boring. I was expecting him to act arrogantly like he used to in his Evolution days. I hope we see a gradual change in his character, because honestly, I doubt this storyline will go well without it. By the way, I love that Cena got booed when he announced he was leaving, that had to have stung. Maybe now he’ll try to come back with a character change as well. Mainstream fans are finally sick of the same old sh*t. It’s not just the internet fans now.

  • TheBigKing1

And I believe that is exactly what’s going to happen Richard. WWE Champion Randy Orton vs CM Punk at Survivor Series for the WWE Championship.

  • Malboja

When will jake the snake Roberts be put in the hall of fame ???

  • TTT

Cena will be back next month… MARK MY WORDS. WWE couldn’t even hold him off one day after he lost a “You’re Fired” match. Nope, he was all fuckin smiley and gay the next night like nothing every happened.
