The Rock On The Tonight Show, Fast And Furious Spinoff

The Rock appeared in two segments of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday night. Neither WWE nor Wrestlemania 29 were brought up and Rock didn't have the title belt with him. The appearance was done to promote "G.I. Joe Retaliation," which is in theaters next weekend.

Speaking of Rock he discusses a spinoff for his "Fast and Furious" character embedded in the video below:

A similar thing happened when Hogan got a lot of press time around BFG last year. Because everyone was still buzzing about his ‘incident’, he rarely spoke of TNA. I expected different of The Rock.. but he didn’t even have the flippin’ belt? I thought the huge incentive for WWE to give him the strap was so that he could provide exposure for WM29. It feels like The Rock’s title reign so far has actually undone some of the work CM Punk did over those 400+ days to add prestige to the championship. I hate to say it, but with his lack of presence on TVs and everything, him as champ has really been an afterthought. And that is not good at all, especially being two weeks removed from the biggest show of the year.

I agree. If Rock isn’t even going to appear with the belt during his public appearances as champion, what was the point of putting the belt on him? Cena doesn’t need the title, he’s had it ten times already and (collectively) twice as long as anybody in WWE over the past 25 years, while the Punk vs. Taker match could have been so much better as a “Streak vs. Streak” match than having Punk exploit the untimely death of Paul Bearer.

I remember seeing a re-run years ago of the Arsenio Hall show in which Randy Savage appeared to promote his match with Hogan at WrestleMania 5 and he was not only dressed as the Macho Man character but he also proudly WORE the WWF championship belt.

      How things have changed…
