THQ No More, Who Is Likely To End Up With WWE Franchise

THQ was officially sold and auctioned off on Wednesday, with the assets being divided amongst winning bidders. An email was sent to all THQ employees, informing them of the winning bidders and stated that most would likely be offered jobs by the new companies. You can read that email at this link.

As for what this means for WWE '14, the rights to it was not auctioned off on Wednesday. However, we're being told that 2KSports, a subsidiary of Take Two, is expected to buy the franchise. IGN is essentially reporting the same thing, adding negotiations appear to have taken place outside THQ's formal auction process.  Their report doesn't state whether WWE will be under the 2KSports banner or under another division of Take Two.

take-two bought it, and 2k sports will develop it i am sure with help of some current wwe developers. its bad for THQ but this could be great for 2K who just gained a very successful IP

Yes yes yes! Wwe14 and 2k this have will be awesome if it’s anything like nba. The wrestlers will look even more realistic and I hope the do a Monday night wars mode.

I definitely feel for the THQ folk that lost their jobs, hopefully a good many of them can find jobs where their respective studios landed.

That said, I’m pretty psyched about this. 2KSports and 2KGames in general are pretty awesome. I think WWE is in good hands. It may not be with this year’s game, but it’ll get there.

Also, I hope Mr. Torgue gets to be an Easter Egg character in it, as he is basically a pro wrestler. (More specifically, very Macho Man-esque)

2K will be publishing it. There hasn’t been any word on who is actually going to Develop it. Let lone i’m sure next years game was already in the works for a few months now. They just might keep Yukes as the developers for it
