Three Major Names Looking To Return To WWE But Why Vince McMahon Isn't Backing Off His Demands; How His Negotiations Tactics Have Changed Since CM Punk Got His Deal Last Year

Last week we reported here on Premium about Vince McMahon feeling like he had been pushed around too much when negotiating with CM Punk last year. This caused him to start pushing back with other stars looking to return, including John Morrison.

I'm told Vince is continuing to "stick to his guns" with another recent example dealing with Steve Austin. The meeting we reported on between Austin and Vince was held at the behest of Austin and although they are still far apart on money, Vince feels like Austin blinked first and he really got off on Austin being the one to ask to come back to the table.

Another name that wants a short run to lead up to Wrestlemania 29 is Chris Jericho. However, so far, Vince is saying no because he feels like Jericho isn't willing to make a big enough commitment to the company. There have been plenty of times in recent years where Vince gave Jericho a lot of leeway, but Vince is really gung-ho right now on repairing what he sees as damage done to his negotiating leverage.

Hey Richard I got a quick question for you? Earlier this year you posted an article about guys like Batista, MVP & Finlay possibly returning too the WWE, whatever happened with that?

yeah Vince…. stick to your guns. continue putting out a subpar product with 5 legit main events at the expense of the audience who pays top dollar to see your shows and buy your merchandise… who cares that we would all love some big names to return? as long as you can get off on your negotiating leverage. Tell me, did that work when dealing with Brock Lesnar and his 8 dates you paid millions of dollars for? awesome!!

Vince needs to forget about his ‘damaged ego’ & make decisions for the greater good of the company, because right now WWE is slowly falling apart! Ratings are terrible, the show itself is awful & the roster is lacking genuine stars.

It’s such a damning indictment of the entire WWE roster that Wrestlemania is apparently being built around Rock, Austin, HHH, Lesnar & Undertaker …. None of which are full time workers !

I agree that Jericho needs to come back longer. However I think that Vince should allow Morrison to come back under a one year contract and go from there. I also think that Vince should pay Austin what he’s requesting or something closer to it because at the end of the day Vince will make that money back with Austin on the card times two.

I can see him sticking to his guns with Morrison and maybe even Jericho, but not Austin. Austin would be the biggest draw out of them all and it would really benefit McMahon in the end to finally strike a deal with Austin.

Morrison doesn't have enough drawing power to make much of any demands and I don't see Vince budging an inch with him. Jerchio might be able to strike a deal though.

Forgot to add, I don't think it was really Punk's deal that damaged his leverage, but the deal he made with Brock. People know how much money he spent on him as a part timer and now they are comparing that with what they think they should get.

Not sure I really care too see Jericho at the moment, nothing against him but his latest run was very underwhelming too say the least. His 1st comeback in 07 was epic because of his feud with HBK. But all this coming & leaving then coming back has run it's course. I'm not even sure if a Jericho return would really generate that much buzz since it wasn't even that long ago that he left

I’m sorry but this little game Vince is playing with SCSA is really childish and petty. How much money did this single man make Vince for Vince to then play hardball when the idea of a dream match with Punk generates so much interest and buzz.

As for Jericho, he’ll be back in time for WM. I don’t know who he will feud with but I’m sure he’ll be back. Maybe a Ziggler rematch?

An Austin return would be bigger than any of the others, including the Rock. Austin was the attitude era to a lot of fans.

Wouldn't it be smart to bring as many names (bigger the better) for the run up to Wrestlemania. Also, there is still the Royal Rumble, surely there is bound to be a few returns in that, cant be as bad as the last Royal Rumble. I hardly remember that.

I can see vince saying no to Jericho and Morrison but not Austin no way. Vince knows Austin vs Punk is a money maker and knows he will make up all the money that he gives Austin if he goes through with the deal Austin wants.
