Second Report: TNA House Show Results (7/17/09) - Johnson City, Tennessee

Written by J. Lance Treadway on Jul 19, 2009 - 1:58:57 PM

Wrestling News World reader J. Lance Treadway sent the following results:

Match #1: Chris vs. Jay Lethal vs. Suicide
- Crowd was solidly behind Suicide in this match with a pretty decent pop for Sabin and almost no crowd reaction for Lethal. Suicide hit the Suicide Solution on Sabin, but Sabin kicked out. Sabin Wins with the Cradle Shock on Suicide.

Match #2: Rhaka Khan vs. Daphney
- Rhaka got some solid heat throughout the match. Daphney got a decent pop upon entrance and not much else. Rhaka appeared to get hurt pretty badly on a belly-to-belly suplex attempt by Daphney. Rhaka looked almost as if she wasn't prepared for the move and did not get good rotation. Instead of flipping over and landing on her back, she went almost straight down into the mat head first. They moved to a quick finish with Daphney immediately covering Rhaka for the three count. Rhaka had to be helped out of the ring and to the back with one person under each arm. I talked after the show to some guys that were in the 2nd row right in front of the action and they said that it looked really bad. They said that Rhaka looked very dazed and probably didn't even know her own name when she was taken out. Everyone involved with TNA looked very concerned, including Daphney.

*J.B. gets up in the ring and reads a "text message" from Scott Steiner in which he called us all hillbilly white trash and said that we would be in the presence of greatness later in the show.

Match #3: Kip James vs. Matt Morgan
- Kip got a mild pop upon entrance, but Morgan got huge heat and did a really good job of playing it up. Morgan continues to get booed throughout match. Kip James got very little offense in during the match and Morgan won with a big boot to the face of Kip. Kip got a really good pop after the match and he even responded by returning the applause back to the crowd.*J.B. announces big surprise after the main event.

Match #4: Scott Steiner and Booker T vs. Beer Money
- Steiner got a really good pop from the crowd, even while yelling at us and giving us the finger. Mixed reaction for Booker T. Steiner and Booker got on the mic and cut a good heel promo, cutting down the crowd and still got cheered the whole time. Really good pop for Beer Money, no Beer Kart though. Storm gets on the mic and tells Booker that the Oilers left Houston and came TN. because Texas sucks. Booker gets a big pop for doing the spinarooni during the match. Roode throws Steiner into Booker, causing Booker to fall to the ground. Storm then spits beer into the face of Steiner and Beer Money hits the DWI on Steiner for the win. Steiner worked probably 80% of the match or more. Kinda made me wonder if Booker is injured.

*Intermission

Match #5: Madison Rayne vs. Taylor Wilde
- Taylor Wilde won the match with a roll up and a bridge. Rayne did a really good job of playing up to the crowd and showed herself to be a very cable wrestling as well. She definitely won me over with her performance in this show, even in a losing effort.

Match #6: Samoa Joe vs. A.J. Styles
- Joe comes out with a white towel around his neck instead of his current black towel. A.J. comes out to a huge, huge pop from the crowd. A.J. got the pin after hitting the pele' on Joe. Very short match, especially for the main event.**Other notes from the show:After the main event A.J. stayed in the ring and did pictures with fans for $20. There was a huge amount of people in line for the pics. My wife and went in and A.J. was super nice. Some of the other wrestlers came out and walked around the ring signing autographs. Among them where Roode, Lethal, and Sabin. Also signing autographs were Earle Hebner, Jeremy Borash and B.G. James from the back. The referees were Earl Hebner and Slick Johnson.J.B. Said that they would be back to Johnson City and that if it were up to him that it would be for a pay-per-view. I would be very surprised if they came back any time soon at all as it was a very low turn out. There were probably between 600 and 800 people there in a building that will hold around 6,000 or more.

Overall I thought was a really good show. This was my second time seeing TNA live and I can't wait to see them again.

Biggest pops:
A.J. Styles
Suicide
Beer Money
Kip James

Biggest Heat:
Matt Morgan
Rhaka Khan
