TNA House Show Results (4/07/11) - Erie, Pennsylvania

Written by Shane Steele on Apr 8, 2011 - 3:11:32 PM

Wrestling News World reader Shane Steele sent in the following:

Well its been a little over a year but FINALLY TNA CAME BACK TO ERIE and I was lucky enough to attend and have an amazing second row seat. Here are the results and my personal account of this incredible event.

The day actually started with a special TNA TWEET AND GREET which took place from 4:30 to 5 PM at the Time Warner Cable Office. After my friends and I waited 4 hours due to traveling from out of town we were very happy when Jeremy Borash arrived with the mystery TNA star one half of the TNA Tag Team Champions Robert Roode of Beer Money. Everyone got a chance to meet Robert and get an autograph and a photo taken with him as well.

Then TNA in true normal fashion continued pouring on the fun and excitement with the pre-show meet and greet around ringside for those who purchased the 50 dollar tickets.

The first out to meet and talk to fans was none other than Fortune member and TNA X-Division Champion Kazarian to be followed then by Hernandez, TNA Television Champion Gunner, Murphy, and The Samoan Submission Machine Samoa Joe. Then as if that wasn't amazing enough JB then announced that upstairs you could get an autograph and photo taken with The Blueprint Matt Morgan, and TNA KNOCKOUT MICKIE JAMES who amazingly still appeared as advertised despite not yet being cleared due to a recent shoulder injury suffered at a recent TNA House Show in Jacksonville, Florida, of course i got my Matt Morgan autograph and my Mickie James autograph and photo.

Throughout the event the greatest wrestling merchandise salesman ever "D W" Don West was in attendance selling great TNA merchandise including a Jeff Hardy Brown Bag Special.

Now onto the actual action packed event. The evening began with Jeremy Borash coming out pumping up the crowd and plugging the giveaway of backstage passes to the loudest fans which brought out Gunner and Murphy who declared that no fans would be allowed backstage. A TNA agent then came out with the passes prepared to enforce the order of no fans backstage but JB took the passes and announced that despite the order they would be given away.

In the opening match of the evening Matt Hardy representing Immortal went one on one with the TNA X-Division Champion and Fortune representative Kazarian with Brian Hebner in at referee. This match was a really competitive effort by both very talented individuals. After a really entertaining match Kazarian picked up the victory when he hooked Hardy up over his back and drove him down to the mat for the 1 2 3 pinfall to the delight of the crowd. However in slightly unexpected events Matt Hardy despite being a member of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff's faction Immortal received a very loud ovation and Hardy chant.

Next up Jeremy Borash brought out a local Erie personality whose name I didn't catch and they gave out backstage passes. Then JB introduced TNA referee the infamous Earl Hebner who entered to the usual "You Screwed Bret" chants from the crowd referring to the 1997 Survivor Series Bret Hart-Shawn Michaels-Vince McMahon incident. In a successful effort to gain heel heat Hebner even donned Bret Hart sunglasses and performed The Hitman's trademark pose. The next match saw Madison Rayne defend the TNA Knockouts Championship against the original TNA Knockout Traci Brooks (replacing the still injured Mickie James). It was a definite pleasant surprise to see Traci in action once again and the two extremely beautiful talented ladies delivered a terrific match. In a comedy moment referee Earl Hebner caught Madison in his arms dipped her back and planted a big kiss on her lips following that up with a victory strut. After all was said and done Madison picked up the win with a boot and her feet on the ropes. On her way out Traci heard me cheering loudly for her so she winked and blew a kiss at me.

Next up in a battle of two of TNA's powerhouses Hernandez squared off with The Blueprint Matt Morgan. In the end of a battle between the two titans Hernandez got caught with his feet on the ropes and in the midst of arguing with the referee Hernandez turned and walked right into the Carbon Footprint for the pinfall.

Jeremy Borash then read a text message stating that later on he would defeat Kurt Angle in front of all of the "morons in Erie"

Next the TNA Tag Team Championship was on the line as Robert Roode and Cowboy James Storm, Beer Money, defended against TNA Television Champion Gunner and Murphy. In a really funny spot James Storm handed Earl Hebner a beer and he spit it on Gunner and Murphy. The end came in a successful title defense for Beer Money when Roode pinned Gunner after the neckbreaker powerbomb combo.

Next we had intermission where just as he had done before the show began Don West got in the ring and tossed out free items such as t-shirts, hats, DVDs, Pope sunglasses, Jeff Hardy merchandise, and Sting masks.

Back from intermission it was once again match time as Bully Ray went toe to toe with The Samoan Submission Machine Samoa Joe. Bully let his heel tactics almost cost him a victory when he got caught with a steel chain but the match would push forward further. However in the end it would be his consistent arguing with the referee proving to be his downfall as Samoa Joe would lock in his signature Kokina Clutch rear naked choke for the tapout victory, and Bully Ray headed to the back angrily to a loud chorus of "You Tapped Out" chants.

Then it was Main Event time and The King of The Mountain Jeff Jarrett took on The Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle in one more chapter to one of TNA's biggest rivalries but in this case there would be a special extra element thrown in as The Hardcore Legend Mick Foley served as Special Guest Enforcer. A top highlight in this match came when referee Brian Hebner who had become tired of Jeff Jarrett's constant intimidation attempts threw the referee shirt down and actually punched kicked and armdragged Jarrett to the absolute delight of the Erie crowd. Later in the match Angle would reverse the Stroke front legsweep into his Ankle Lock attempting to force a tap out. After all would eventually be said and done following Brian Hebner being taken out of the match Jeff Jarrett would receive a dose of Socko followed immediately by the Olympic Angle Slam and Mick Foley counting the 1 2 3 pinfall capping off an incredible night.

After the show Hernandez, Gunner, Murphy, Samoa Joe, Kazarian and Beer Money signed autographs around ringside. Then Beer Money would join Kurt Angle in the ring and for 20 dollars for a group no matter how many you had with you whether it be 1 2 3 or however many you could get your picture taken in the ring with Kurt Angle and Beer Money.
