TNA House Show Results (9/11/09) - Augusta, Georgia

Written by Zach Bonner on Sep 12, 2009 - 10:19:50 AM

Wrestling News World reader Zach Bonner sent in the following report:

Crowd was about half-full, which was messed up because WWE Smackdown sold out the place when it came to town. Beer Money and Taylor Wilde were signing autographs before the show. Good show by TNA, besides a few matches. I brought two friends along with extra tickets I had and they weren't even wrestling fans and they enjoyed it.Here are the match results as followed:JB comes out to a good pop and he talks about the nights events. Usual house show stuff.

MATCH 1: Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Suicide
Bashir comes out to a massive amount of heat (I wonder why?*sarcasm*). He cuts a promo, well not really a promo he just stood with a mic in his hands while yelling at the crowd until they finally quieted down so he could talk, kinda funny. So when he finally gets the chance to talk he challenges anyone from backstage and it turns out to be Suicide. Just a normal, kinda mediocre, match. Suicide gets a lot of offense in but Sheik just restholds him to death. Finish came with Suicide hitting his flipping leg hook thing, the Suicide Solution I believe, and gets the 3.

JB goes to the ring and talks about backstage passes and a contest to win them if you text a number. Everybody got their phones out to text something and attempt to win the passes.

MATCH 2: Daffney vs. Taylor Wilde
The match was basically everything you can expect out of Wilde: Generic moves galore! I counted at least 13 clotheslines from her through the match. Finish came when Taylor reversed a move from Daffney into a roll-up for the win. Seems like that is the only way she wins matches....JB does his whole "get in the ring and talk after the match" deal. He plugs the PPV coming up.

MATCH 3:Homicide w/Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Hernandez
Homicide is introduced as the newest member of the World Elite, kinda cool, even though Sheik accompanying him to the ring besides EY. For at least the first four minutes of the match, Homicide played the cookie-cutter heel by refusing to get into the ring. Cool spot where Sheik distracted Hernandez and when Super Mex turned around he ate a sweet front missile dropkick from Homicide. Hernandez got the win with the Dominator.

JB once again comes to the ring and plugs the backstage passes.

MATCH 4:TNA X-Division Championship match Daniels vs. Samoa Joe(c)
Great match by these two, but you can always expect that. Funny spot where Daniels went for a springboard move but gets his leg caught on the top rope and trips and Joe can't stop laughing, I don’t know if it was intentional or not because of Joe's laughing and the fact that they did not retry the move. Finish came when Daniels went for the BME but Joe rolls out of the way and Daniels lands on his feet. He runs at Joe who is standing in the corner but Joe goes for a boot, which Daniels dodges by sliding out from underneath him to the outside. He grabs Joe's leg and trips him and gets on the top. Joe gets up and hits the SSP Enzuigiri and the Muscle Buster for the pin.

Intermission

Come back from intermission and JB starts a salute towards the soldiers in the house. Everyone claps for them and JB says thank you to them for defending our country.

MATCH 5:TNA World Tag Team Championship match
Booker T and Scott Steiner(c) v.s. Beer Money Inc.
Booker and Scott insult the fans and Scott calls everyone "white trash and rednecks" like five times. He really needs some new lines. That was all I could really understand from Scotty's mouth, like usual. Beer Money come out to a good pop and start a "Beer Money!!!" chant from both sides of the arena. Booker and Scott take forever to get in the ring. Is there a rule in TNA where every heel has to be scared to wrestle? Good match, had fun insulting Steiner the whole time. Booker did the Spin-a-roony and got a big pop for it too. Comedy from Roode where he did both of his opponents signature taunts(Scott's muscle flex and Booker's "Five time WCW Champion!" thing). Things heated up and they took the fight to the outside where both teams brawled for a bit, crowd got hot for that. Finish came where the ref had his back turned, trying to separate Storm and Booker, and Steiner hits Roode with one of the title belts and gets the three count. Horrible belt shot from Scotty and people even started a "Your on steroids" chant towards him, ouch. JB hypes the Main Event and the wrestlers make their entrances.

Main Event: TNA World Heavyweight Championship match
AJ Styles v.s. Kurt Angle(c)
JB makes the introductions and the match begins.
Excellent PPV-quality match from these two. Reminds of the awesome match they had at Slammiversary 08. Great spots like Kurt hitting a sick German Suplex on AJ when he rebounded off of the ropes. AJ nailed Kurt with a moonsault from the middle rope. The match was very fast paced and only had maybe two restholds and one ankle lock attempt from Kurt. Finish came when AJ went for the Styles Clash but Steiner came down to the ring and distracted the ref long enough for Angle to hit a low blow and an awesome Olympic Slam on AJ for the win.

After the match AJ got some cheap pops for promoting the University of Georgia football team. JB got in the ring and they had a great deal where you can get a picture with AJ with your group for only $20! Normally that would cost more, and they threw in an autograph! Too bad the line was mile long....

All in all it was a great show, besides the first two matches, and I can't wait for TNA to come back to Augusta. They also said that some of it would be filmed for TV but I dont know if that is a normal thing or not so I thought they would have a title change, even though that would make no sense.
