TNA iMPACT Results - 01/04/2007

Written by Richard Trionfo (PWInsider.com) on Jan 4, 2007 - 11:56:38 PM

Total Nonstop Action brings its first television show of 2007 and it includes a scheduled main event of Kurt Angle versus Christian Cage. What will happen when these two men meet for the first time in a one-on-one match in a TNA ring? Will Samoa Joe get revenge for what happened last week leading to his acceptance of a rematch? What is next in the story behind the dissolution of America ’s Most Wanted? What is next between Team 3D and the Latin American Exchange and what will happen in the street fight between Homicide and Brother Runt? What is next in the Paparazzi Challenge Series? Will we see tiddlywinks, charades, or maybe TNA’s version of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ as we move towards its completion at Final Resolution. What new matches will be announced for the pay per view one week from Sunday?

We start off this week’s show with a look back at the announcement of Samoa Joe winning the fan’s vote as Mr. TNA for 2006. We also hear Joe’s comments from last week about how he is done with Kurt Angle and is now looking ahead at the NWA World Title. We see Kurt Angle bringing Joe’s female friend into the Impact Zone and then putting her in the ankle lock to get Joe to accept the third match. We hear the voice over saying that last week, things got personal and this week they will get violent.

Samoa Joe storms into Jim Cornette’s office and he demands Kurt Angle tonight. Cornette tells Joe that he has to wait until Final Resolution because Angle has a match tonight. Cornette tells Joe ‘not to go there’ and leave the building because he does not want Joe around when Kurt Angle gets in the ring. He tells Joe that he wants to save people from getting hurt. Joe tells Cornette he is not here to hurt TNA or Cornette. He is here to hurt Kurt Angle. Angle started something and he is going to finish it.

We are live on tape from Universal Studios in Orlando , Florida and your announcers are Mike ‘TNA’ Tenay and Don ‘you have got to be kidding me’ West.

Don and Mike talk about how Jim Cornette is going to announce a stipulation for the NWA World Title match at Final Resolution tonight on Impact.

Robert Roode sends Traci Brooks to the back before he goes down the Ramp of Heelish Impact to the ring.

Match Number One: Robert Roode versus Rhino

Rhino with a shoulder tackle and then he blocks a hip toss and hits a short arm clothesline. Rhino with a double sledge and then he Irish whips Roode, but Roode leaves the ring to regroup. Roode re-enters the ring and then Rhino backs Roode into the corner. Roode with a punch when the referee tries to separate them on a break. Rhino with punches and chops to Roode and then he slams Roode’s head into the turnbuckle. Roode with a hard Irish whip and then he kicks Rhino. Roode chops Rhino and punches him in the corner. Roode with a snap mare and a leap frog neck breaker. Rhino blocks a punch and he responds with punches of his own. Rhino with a flying clothesline and back elbow followed by an Irish whip and running shoulder into the corner. Rhino with a belly-to-belly suplex and then he sets up for the Gore. Traci Brooks comes to the ring and she distracts Rhino. Rhino grabs Traci and Roode tries to attack Rhino from behind, but Rhino is able to move out of the way. Roode stops short of hitting Traci. Rhino with a rollup for the three count.

Winner: Rhino

After the match, Roode leaves the ring and he yells at Traci as they head to the back.

Rhino leaves the ring and A.J. Styles attacks Rhino from behind and they go into the ring. Styles with a kick to Rhino, but Rhino with a belly-to-belly suplex. Rhino sets for the Gore, but Roode trips Rhino. Roode kicks Rhino and then Styles joins in the attack on Rhino. Styles hits a Styles Clash on Rhino.

Jeremy Borash is outside Jim Cornette’s office and Eric Young pops up. Eric asks Jeremy for some help for a ‘friend’. There is a situation with this girl who is putting pressure on him to do ‘you know’. Jeremy wants to know if Eric is talking about Ms. Brooks and Eric says that he is not talking about specifics and it is a guy that Jeremy does not know. He says that this guy is not skilled in these types of things. He calls Jeremy the ‘love doctor’. Jeremy asks if Eric’s ‘friend’ is a virgin and Eric says that his friend is from Kansas . Traci stops by and she tells Eric that he looks nice tonight. She wants to know if Eric got what she asked him to get. Traci gives Eric until the end of next week, and if he does not get it, he will be fired. Eric says that his friend is in a real pickle, and speaking of pickles, he asks Jeremy for a few bucks. We go to commercial.

We are back and Jeremy Borash is in the locker room with Samoa Joe. Joe tells Angle that for four weeks, he tried to get Joe’s attention and last week he did. Between Joe and Angle, it was always about who was best. Like a coward, when he could not accept who was best, Angle went after someone close to Joe. They say that Final Resolution is ten days away, but that is an eternity to get his hands on Angle. Tonight, he has to leave the building. He will leave, but after his job is done.

The Voodoo Kin Mafia come to the ring and they are wearing sombreros and ponchos. Mike Tenay wonders what it will take to get a response to the challenge. BG tells Kip that he does not trust him on the mic, but Kip points out that BG was a potty-mouth at the pay per view. BG says that Kip wouldn’t bring it up again. BG says that he took his Zoloft so everything will be alright. BG addresses Vincent K McMahon and says that it has been four weeks with no response. There have been no text messages, faxes, or fancy sky writing over TNA Towers . BG says that everyone knows that you cannot solve a problem by simply ignoring it. The more you ignore it, the bigger it gets. Kip pulls out a bullhorn and he startles BG. BG takes the bullhorn from Kip and then he reiterates the challenge. He says that at the end of the rainbow is a pot filled with one million dollars for his boys if they step up to the plate to prove that they are the men that they claim to be. Apparently ‘Operation WWE Live Event’ was not a complete success. However, it was not a complete failure. They got Paul’s attention, but all they got was a fruity smile and a silly little hand wave. That was not the answer that they were looking for. One thing it did was tell them that it was time to step up their game a notch. It is time to turn their attention to Michael Hickenbottom. BG says that they know that he is working a light schedule and he is not taking every booking that comes his way. On any given Wednesday, he is probably kicking it at home in San Antonio . Not this Wednesday. He says that he is calling out the ‘egg sucking dog’ and they are taking it to his backyard, San Antonio , Texas . At the Alamo at high noon, he tells Hickenbottom to bring ‘em if he has them and try to collect the one million dollars. They won’t be hard to find. They will be the idiots wearing sombreros and ponchos. He restates the challenge for this Wednesday. BG tells the Impact Zone that they will have the footage next Thursday.

It is time for the next Paparazzi Challenge Series video. Jay Lethal tells Nash that it is ridiculous. Nash says that this week’s event is musical chairs. The music for this competition is Kevin Nash singing into a bullhorn. Lethal wants to talk to Nash and that stops the ‘music’ and Lethal is eliminated. The next round starts and Senshi refuses to get up while Shelley, Dutt, and Starr continue to walk around the chairs. Nash puts the bullhorn right next to Senshi’s ear as he continues to sing. That gets Senshi to stand up, and Nash stops singing and that eliminates Senshi. Dutt tells Senshi to leave. Alex Shelley is the next person to be eliminated as he tries to squeeze onto one of the two remaining chairs. For the final two men, everyone sings ‘Adrenaline Rush’. Dutt thinks that he won, but Nash resumes the song. Dutt gets up and Nash stops the song, allowing Austin Starr to win. Shelley says that he can lose gracefully, and then he goes after Dutt. The current PCS Standings are: 1) Austin Starr 18 points; 2) Jay Lethal and Alex Shelley 15 points; 4) Sonjay Dutt 14 points; 5) Senshi 13 points. We go to commercial.

We are back with an interview that Jeremy Borash conducted with Gail Kim. He asks her what things have been like over the last few months. Gail says that it has been a rollercoaster of emotions since these problems started five months ago, they dealt with them like a team and family. She says that they thought everything was under control. However, three weeks ago, when James Storm hit Chris Harris she has no explanation. Jeremy asks what it is like to see the most decorated tag team in TNA dissolve. James Storm enters the interview and interrupts Gail’s answer. He says that he is here for the view and listen to them talk behind his back. Gail wants to know what is wrong with James because she is trying to explain the situation to Jeremy. Storm tells Gail to look around because there is no women’s division. He says that the only two females he sees around here are her and ‘Hermie’. Storm tells Borash to watch his mouth or he might get a beer bottle upside his face. Gail tells Storm to listen to what he is saying. Storm pulls Jeremy out of the interview area. Storm tells Gail that he brought her into the company. There is no women’s division. He wants to know if she is going to go back to Wal-Mart or Taco Bell or her uncle’s Golden Wok and flip rice paddies. He tells Gail seven days. She says that she has not discussed this with Chris and Storm tells her that Chris isn’t coming back. He says that his patience with Gail is running thin.

Match Number Two: Homicide versus Brother Runt in a Street Fight

Brother Runt attacks Homicide as Homicide tries to enter the ring. Runt hits Homicide with the title belt. They enter the ring and he runs his boots across Homicide’s face before Runt throws Homicide out of the ring. Runt goes up top and hits a cross body on Homicide. Runt gets a chair and puts it on Homicide’s head and he runs the chair into the ring post. Runt chokes Homicide with the cable from the camera and then connects with an elbow to the top of the head. Daniels says that after this match, Jerry Lynn and Chris Sabin will say that the greatest X Division wrestler and champion in the history of TNA is and will be Christopher Daniels. We go to commercial.

He tells Abyss that whatever bonds he has with Sting end tonight. He says that Christian and Tomko only know a little bit of the whole story.
