TNA iMPACT Results - 03/15/2007

Written by Richard Trionfo (PWInsider.com) on Mar 15, 2007 - 11:51:52 PM

Last Sunday, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling held its Destination X pay per view that saw Christian Cage retain the NWA World Heavyweight Title against Samoa Joe, Chris Sabin retain the X Division Title, and Rhino win the Elevation X match when A.J. Styles fell from the Elevation X structure. Now TNA moves towards their second monthly pay per view outside of Orlando , Florida as Lockdown goes to the Gateway City . What is next for all of the champions? Will we see new feuds start or will the old ones continue? Will we see the Great Muta on this week’s show after his appearance at Destination X? Will we get a visit from Bob Backlund this week? Will we see anything new from Paparazzi Idol? How will Alex Shelley work with LAX as they face all three members of Team 3D in a six man match? Will we see the return of the Lethal Lockdown match at the pay per view? Is A.J. Styles okay after his fall from the Elevation X structure? Will we hear from Christopher Daniels to explain his actions on Sunday night?

We begin with a look back at a video package showing some highlights from Destination X.

We are live on tape from Universal Studios in Orlando , Florida and your announcers are Mike ‘TNA’ Tenay and Don ‘you have got to be kidding me’ West.

Jim Cornette is inside the six sides of steel to make an announcement. He says that he is here to announce the main event for the Lockdown pay per view. There will be a ten men Lethal Lockdown match with two teams of five men. The rules are that one man from each team will start off in the ring and every two minutes another man will enter until all ten men are in the match and that will start the Lethal Lockdown match. Cornette says that he wants to introduce the two captains. The first captain is the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Christian Cage. The captain of the second team is the Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle. Cornette tells both men that it is their responsibilities to pick their own teammates between now and the pay per view. He advises the men to do two things: choose quickly and choose wisely. Christian wants to have a word with ‘Jimbo’ and he says that he does not like the sound of it for one minute. Cornette tells Christian to shut because he does not care if Christian does not like it because it is happening. Cornette says that there is nothing that Christian can do about it.

Don and Mike talk about the continuation of the blood rivalry between LAX and Team 3D. Mike talks about the six man match and Don mentions that Alex was a difference maker at Destination X. Don and Mike are interrupted by A.J. Styles’s music.

A.J. Styles comes to the ring with a neck brace, ankle brace, and a crutch. We see footage from Destination X of the Elevation X match and the reactions of many of the fans at ringside during the match. A.J. asks Rhino if this is what he wanted. The doctors said that his neck, back, and ankle will never be the same. It is all because of Rhino. A.J. says that he hopes Rhino is happy because he would want this to happen to Rhino. A.J. says that he does not have the heart to call his wife to tell her that he won’t be able to bring home a paycheck or provide food for his family. He wants Rhino to come out to call A.J.’s wife to explain what happened.

Rhino comes to the ring and enters the cage. Rhino asks A.J. if A.J. wants him to call A.J.’s wife. Rhino suggests that maybe he already had a nice conversation with A.J.’s wife. He wants to know if this is what it is about or does A.J. want Rhino to knock the living crap out of him one more time. Rhino asks the crowd what they want. Rhino asks A.J. what it is about. A.J. wants a second to explain. He says that he understands that Rhino was trying to help him and he is sorry. A.J. says that he wants it over. Rhino wants to make sure that A.J. is saying that he wants this to be over. Rhino asks the fans and they don’t want it to be over. A.J. says that he wants it to be over. He says that he understands the thing between Rhino and Christian. Now he wants it to be over. Rhino says that it is over. A.J. and Rhino shake hands and then Rhino wants to make sure that it is over. Rhino turns around and A.J. tries to hit Rhino with the crutch, but Rhino turns around in time to block it. A.J. with a low kick to Rhino and then he breaks the crutch over Rhino’s back and the handle of the crutch flies into the front row of the Pit. A.J. punches Rhino and then he hits A.J. with the crutch again. We go to commercial.

We are back and Rhino and A.J. are still battling in the cage. Rhino punches A.J. and then he tosses Styles into the cage and then he hits a short arm clothesline. Rhino punches Styles, but Christian Cage comes to the ring and he hits Rhino with another crutch. Christian helps A.J. get up and they both attack Rhino with crutches.

Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe come to the ring, but before they can get into the cage, A.J. is able to escape to the back. Christian is not so lucky and he is cornered in the cage by Rhino, Joe, and Angle. Christian climbs the cage and escapes over the top and goes through the crowd.

Jeremy Borash is in the interview area with LAX and Alex Shelley. Jeremy talks about the six man match. Alex tells Brother Ray that he took his loaded gun and pointed it at the messenger. He did not get a round off because of his new friends Homicide and Hernandez. Alex says that they used to go way back with them and rob bodegas. It is because of Konnan who he trained with at Arena Mexico . He tells Brother Ray that they are going to be crackalating and marinating. Konnan says that LAX is so sweet you will get diabetes and so sick that you will confuse them with getting SARS. He says that it does not matter what metaphor you use, LAX are the tag champions. Alex says that they are the best tag team in the world and LAX and Borash stare at Alex while he looks away. Konnan says that Team 3D put him in a wheelchair, but it is not permanent, unlike Team 3D’s obesity and stupidity. They will take Team 3D’s legacy eventually, but first they whoop their asses all over the Impact Zone. We go to commercial.

We are back and Kevin Nash is in the ring with Sonjay Dutt.

Jeremy Borash is in the back with Chris Sabin, who is playing God of War II on a Playstation2. Bob Backlund is in the background doing the Harvard Step Test. Jeremy talks about how Sabin defended the title against Jerry Lynn. Sabin apologizes for his video game playing interrupting Jeremy’s interview time while he is trying to ‘pwn newbs.’ He says that he is the ‘God of Wrestling.’ Jeremy asks Sabin if he is the God of Wrestling, what is Bob Backlund doing. Bob Backlund comes over and he asks if they are having discourse and wonders why he is being excluded. Jeremy denies being exclusionary. Jeremy asks Backlund if he was training back there and when Jeremy says that he saw Backlund going up and down the stairs, he wanted to know why Jeremy would ask him. Jeremy says that he was wondering why Backlund was doing that while they were talking about video games. Backlund wonders why they are talking about video games when they should be training and getting prepared for battle. Backlund leaves the room and Sabin mocks Backlund before returning to the video game.

We return to the ring and Kevin Nash and Sonjay Dutt are still in the ring begging for Jay Lethal to come out. Nash says that he produced a new song for Jay Lethal. They play it and it is a new version of Pomp and Circumstance as Lethal comes out.

Match Number One: Kaz versus Jay Lethal versus Jerry Lynn

Lynn offers his hand to Lethal and Jay teases shaking Jerry’s hand until he pulls away like Randy Savage would. Kaz attacks Lethal and Lynn tries for a rollup and gets a two count. Lethal with a back slide for a two count. Kaz misses a bicycle kick on Lethal and Lynn with a drop toe hold that sends Kaz into the ropes. Lynn comes off the ropes and Lethal cuts him off with a jumping leg lariat. Lethal with a punch to Kaz and Kaz with an Irish whip but Lethal with a baseball slide that sends Lynn into the guardrails. Lethal tries for a slingshot move back into the ring but Kaz catches him and hits an Ace Cutter for a two count. Lynn with a kick and forearm followed by a suplex attempt. Kaz with an elbow and then he tries to get Lynn up for a slam, but Lynn escapes the hold and hits an inverted DDT for a two count. Lynn with a kick to Lethal. Kaz with a rollup and he stops Lethal from breaking up the cover and he hits a Northern Lights suplex while he still has Lynn in the rollup and turns it into a bridge as he tries for the double pin but only gets a two count on both men. Kaz with a kick to Lethal but Lethal with a hip toss followed by cartwheel and leg lariat. Lynn with a snap mare and rollup after Lethal misses an enzuigiri. Lynn sets for the cradle piledriver on Lethal, but Kaz with a bicycle kick. Lethal with a backbreaker followed by a flatline and he gets the three count on Kaz.

Winner: Jay Lethal

After the match, Christopher Daniels comes out and he hits all three men with a baseball bat and then he hits Last Rites on Jerry Lynn.

We go to the back where Jeremy Borash is with Christian Cage and A.J. Styles. Jeremy reminds A.J. and Christian about what happened earlier in the show and wonders what is going on with Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, and Rhino. Christian says that it is obvious because A.J. Styles is the first recruit for Team Cage at Lethal Lockdown. Christian says that A.J. might be the greatest athlete in TNA and he wants to be a huge star in TNA and what better way than to align yourself with the Instant Classic. A.J. says that isn’t what they talked about. A.J. says that they talked about how he would get a title shot if they worked together. Borash points out that is the same thing that happened with Tomko. Christian says that was an understanding between the two of them. He wonders where the trust is. Christian says that they need to assemble an unstoppable unit. Christian says that it does not matter who Angle chooses because he has probably already beaten them. Christian tells A.J. that we are going to find out who the third member of Team Cage will be. We go to commercial.

We are back and Konnan joins Don and Mike at the announce table.

Match Number Two: Latin American Xchange (Homicide and Hernandez) and Alex Shelley versus Team 3D (Brother Ray, Brother Devon, and Brother Runt) [with Johnny Rodz]

Alex says that he wants to start off and he is in the ring with Devon . Alex backs up and then he tags in Hernandez before they lock up. Hernandez with a knee and forearms to the back and chops. Devon returns with chops and a Lou Thesz Press followed by punches. Devon with a slam followed by an elbow drop. Ray tags in and they hit a double shoulder tackle followed by an elbow drop from Ray. Hernandez with a kick and clothesline to Ray for a two count. Homicide tags in and he goes up top and hits a double sledge on Ray’s taped up arm. Homicide wraps Ray’s arm in the ropes and punches the shoulder. Homicide holds on to Ray’s arm and then he goes up top and then jumps to the floor causing Ray’s arm to hit the top rope. Homicide punches and kicks Ray’s arm. Ray hits a side slam for a two count when Homicide tries for too much. Ray with a slam and then he tags in Runt who hits a double stomp on Homicide. Runt follows that up with a reverse atomic drop and a clothesline for a one count. Hernandez tries to interfere, but Runt with a drop toe hold. Shelley pulls Runt out of the ring and sends him into the guardrails. Shelley hot shots Runt onto the apron as we go to commercial.

We are back and Hernandez tags in Homicide. WE see footage during the break where Runt is being sent into the guardrail, hit by a chair, receives a senton from the top turnbuckle, and then gets an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Back to live action, Shelley hits a frog splash and so does Hernandez. Shelley holds Runt for Hernandez, but Runt moves out of the way and Hernandez hits a shoulder tackle on Shelley. Devon tags in and he punches Homicide and Hernandez. Devon with a flying shoulder tackle on Hernandez. Homicide tries for a move from the top turnbuckle, but he is stopped by Devon who hits a reverse atomic drop followed by a flying back elbow. Devon with a neck breaker to Hernandez and a spinebuster to Homicide. Devon pulls Shelley into the ring and he runs into Ray. Devon with an Irish whip and an Avalanche splash and clothesline. Devon with a power slam to Shelley followed by a flapjack to Hernandez for a two count. Ray punches Homicide in the corner while Hernandez presses Runt over his head and he tosses Runt onto Johnny Rodz. Ray clotheslines Hernandez over the top rope to the floor. Ray with a slam to Shelley followed by the Wassup Headbutt. Ray tells Devon to ‘get the tables’ and Johnny Rodz helps out Devon . Machete comes out and yells at the referee. Rodz and Machete have some words at ringside while Shelley gets a 3D through the table. Hernandez gets a rollup on Devon due to the referee being distracted outside the ring and Hernandez gets the three count.

Winners: Latin American Xchange and Alex Shelley

After the match, Konnan gets on the mic and he says that they have beaten Team 3D in every type of match they have been paired in. Now they have taken their honor and dignity. Next week, in the final step, he will take their legacy and tarnish it.

Leticia is in the back and we see Martyr yelling at Raven saying that they are done and through doing what he want them to do. Raven says that Serotonin was about to embark on a journey into pain. He says that he does not care about wins and losses and never has cared about them. What he cares about is inflicting psychological damage. He wants their opponents to feel like they did when they were children and their parents beat them. The only way for them to understand what that feels like is to be the parent themselves. Martyr refuses to cane Kaz and Raven slaps Martyr. Raven asks Havoc if he has a problem with him and Havoc drops the cane. Raven hits Havoc in the chest with the cane. We go to commercial.

We are back and Jeremy Borash says that he has seen some things in his day, but this is unbelievable. Jeremy goes into the men’s room and he sees Eric Young cleaning the toilet. Jeremy wants to know what Eric is doing. Eric says that he needs help to get out of the contract. Jeremy asks if Eric signed it and Eric says that he did. Jeremy says that there is nothing he can do. Jeremy asks Eric about his ‘friend’ and Eric does not want to say. Jeremy suggests that Eric call him. Robert Roode enters and wants to know why Jeremy is talking to Eric. Roode tells Borash that if he wants to talk to Eric, he talks to Robert Roode first. Roode tells Borash to leave and then he wants to know why Eric is taking a break. Roode wonders if Borash is the ‘friend’ that Eric talks about. Roode tells Eric that if he thinks things are bad now, they are only going to get worse.

Christian Cage and A.J. Styles are in the ring. Christian says that he is going to get straight to the point to introduce the third member of Team Cage. He tells everyone to get off their fat asses and give a warm welcome to a dear, dear friend of his . . . Abyss.

Abyss comes out to the ring but he does not enter. Christian says that they are more than a team, they are a family. He wants Abyss to come into the ring and take his rightful spot standing behind the champ.

The lights go out and Sting’s music plays as Sting comes out. Sting says that Abyss does not want to be on Christian’s team. Sting says that Christian does not want to be on any team and that Abyss is his own team. He says that Abyss can see right through him. The days of Abyss being led around and told what to do are gone after Sunday. Abyss saw the light and he is a new man. Sting tells Abyss that there is one more piece to his past that he needs to get out, but it is the most important part. They will get to that in due time. Sting tells Abyss that the future is his for his taking.

Christian calls this a piece of crap. He reminds Abyss that it was Sting who told the whole world about his secret. Christian says that Sting does not care about him, but they do.

Jim Cornette comes out and he says that he loves drama as much as the next guy, but he also loves a good wrestling match a little more. We will find out whose side Abyss is on next week in a tag match. A.J. Styles and Christian Cage will face Sting and Abyss. Sting confronts Cornette and tells him that instead of waiting for next week, do it now. Abyss and Sting enter the ring and they attack Christian and Styles and send them out of the ring. We go to credits.
