Thanks To PWTorch.com For The Following Results:
We start with clips of last week when Kurt Angle tried to get his re-match with Samoa Joe. The voice-over man promoted the main event of Joe & A.J. vs. Angle & Rhino.
1 -- KAZARIAN (w/Bentley and Devine) vs. STING
Tenay said this was the in-ring debut of the group. Well, considering they've been exclusive to the pre-show, I guess it doesn't count. Sting walked out with a bat and the NWA Title belt after stealing it from Abyss last week. Sting cleared Devine and Bentley, then Kazarian came off the top with a Kendo Stick from behind, but Sting no-sold it. He went for a Stinger Splash, but Bentley held Sting's foot down. Kazarian then flew into the corner with a kick to the face. Sting didn't sell again. He then knocked Kazarian into Bentley on the apron. Really clipped camera shots here. He then cleared Devine, who tried to interfere, and hit the Scorpion Deathdrop for the win.
WINNER: Sting in 1:00. Rules certainly weren't in vogue here.
Sting took the mic after the match and said he would give the belt back to Abyss by the end of the show if Abyss agrees to grant him his re-match for the NWA Title. He told him not to bring James Mitchell.
They cut to the TNA Impact intro. X Division wrestlers were in a gift-giving mood, handing out candy canes ringside. Suddenly, they weren't there when they showed fireworks. The X Division pulls another disappearing act on Impact. They cut to the announce table where Don West talked about his experience taking the anklelock from Kurt Angle last week. He said he has a new respect for wrestlers after taking the move.
Jeremy Borash was backstage with Rhino for an interview. Rhino screamed into the camera that he would break both of Styles's legs. Rhino left the interview, then Kurt Angle walked into the shot. He said he tried to do things the civil way with Joe, but he doesn't understand why Joe won't give him the re-match. Um...because Angle said he didn't want to wrestle Joe ever again before the last PPV? Angle said he would give Joe every reason to give him a re-match during the tag match.
They cut to a 10-second clip of Raven caning Kazarian.
[Commercial Break]
Borash was backstage for an interview, then Eric Young ran in with a lamp shaped like a woman's leg. He said Ms. Brooks want a re-match for the bikini contest. Team 3D entered the shot and Brother Ray asked Borash if he remembers him. He pointed into the camera and said they - the fans - remember them. Silence. Ray said they've been fighting in Japan lately. He said they didn't forget what The Naturals did to them on TV. Ray said The Naturals had their fifteen minutes of fame, and all they need is three minutes to take out The Naturals. That 15 minutes ended about a month ago, since The Naturals haven't been on TV in about a month. Ray said The Naturals would get a receipt tonight.
2 -- TEAM 3D (BROTHER RAY & BROTHER DEVON) vs. THE NATURALS (CHASE STEVENS & ANDY DOUGLAS w/Shane Douglas) -- Tables match
Team 3D's return could have meant something if they built up a "big return" over the past few weeks with video packages showing highlights of Team 3D in action. The Naturals had control for all of 15 seconds before Team 3D regained control. Devon hit his diving headbutt to the crotch. They gave Stevens a 3D, then Devon put Douglas on Ray's shoulders for a top rope powerbomb through a table to win. Shane Douglas took the mic after the match and said the experiment is over.
WINNER: Team 3D in 3:00. The audacity of TNA to expect the average viewer to remember anything related to this feud, these teams, or Shane Douglas's "experiment" after neither team has been on TV in several weeks. There was absolutely no build up here, so it won't mean anything when 18,000 more things will happen on this show.
Borash was backstage outside of Samoa Joe's locker room. Tomko wanted to know where the production truck is. Tomko said he had some footage on a DVD that the world needs to see.
Ron Killings and Lance Hoyt were suddenly in the ring. Killings had a cigarette over his ear. Random X Division wrestlers walked around the ring handing out presents while Killings did a rap about Christmas and Hoyt danced. There's a fine line between dancing and awkward movements.
[Commercial Break]
Time for the PCS pre-tape video. Nash said this week is a pogo contest. TNA's rip-off Big Dick Johnson jumped on the pogo first. Austin Starr said he was parched after doing some repetitions. Sonjay Dutt kept going and going on the pogo stick, which led to everyone speculating on how much juice he's on. Starr is in first place with 10 points and Shelley is in last place with 8.
Santa Clause was handing out presents in the ring. LAX then interrupted. Don West complained about LAX spoiling a good moment for everyone. Konnan took the mic and said LAX is the best team in wrestling, so TNA just needs to keep bringing out the gringos and they would knock them down. He said this Christmas represents their struggle as poor kids growing up without lavish presents. Konnan told Santa that he still owes Homicide roller skates. He said Hernandez likes to beat up white boys on the holidays. Konnan told TNA and the fans to go to hell. Tenay nearly lost his voice showing indignation over Konnan's speech. Santa stepped into the ring and said LAX isn't being very nice. He then said he would like for Konnan to shut their mouths. LAX beat him down, and revealed Santa to be Brother Runt. Hernandez gave Runt the Border Toss. Random X Division wrestlers, led by Eric Young, ran into the ring to clear LAX.
We instantly cut to VKM. Brother Kip was driving the vehicle to a WWE live event in Knoxville, Tennessee. Kip said they need to meet and greet the fans. B.G. wasn't so sure there would be fans there. They arrived outside of the building and messed around with a mascot. B.G. complained about the dress code and Wellness program. He then said he wanted to meet with Triple H (mentioning him by his real name) so he could cut off his mutton chops.
Borash was backstage with A.J. Styles outside of Samoa Joe's locker room door. Styles said he's dealing with a sore loser, Rhino. He said Rhino should have just walked away and not stuck his nose in his business. Styles said there's certainly trust issues with his partner, Samoa Joe. Joe walked out and scared Styles away. Joe said Styles is in the wrong business if he's worried about trust. He said he's going to make Angle wish he never asked for a re-match.
Shane Douglas did a Public Service Announcement about quitting smoking. Couldn't Killings have just done another rap?
[Commercial Break]
They aired a good video package on AMW and their stranglehold on the tag division since TNA's inception. They cut to Mike Tenay interviewing James Storm about why he turned on Chris Harris. Storm said they accomplished everything as a tag team, but Harris always thinks about himself and no one else. Storm said he doesn't feel sorry at all for Harris, but the team isn't done yet. Storm said it's not over until he looks Harris in the eye and tells him what he really thinks about him.
Abyss's music cut off Tenay and West's discussion of Storm turning on Harris. Abyss walked out alone, then Sting's music hit. He walked out with the NWA Title belt. Sting said they each have possession of something the other wants. He said Abyss needs to stop worrying about his past and his secrets and move on. Sting said they could have the even exchange and seal it with a handshake. Sting extended his hand, then Christian appeared on the video screen. Tenay said Christian was appearing on Tomko's DVD. Christian said he did some investigating and found some dark secrets from Abyss's past. He pointed to a prison beyond the barbed wire. "That must mean Abyss was in prison!" Tenay said as his voice escalated with each word. The video ended, then Sting extended his hand again. Abyss choked him instead. Security spilled into the ring as Sting set up Abyss for a Deathlock. Tomko then walked to ringside. He asked Abyss what decision he's going to make. Christian Cage, dressed in a security t-shirt, then slowly walked over to Sting and attacked him. He cleared Abyss to the outside. James Mitchell talked to Abyss on the outside. Abyss then saved Sting from a two-on-one beating with Sting's baseball bat. Abyss handed over the bat to Sting as Mitchell screamed at Abyss.
[Commercial Break]
They recapped the previous segment. Mike Tenay said it seems like Mitchell is losing control over Abyss.
3 -- A.J. STYLES & SAMOA JOE vs. RHINO & KURT ANGLE
Angle and Joe brawled on the outside before the bell sounded. Joe then slammed Angle headfirst into the announce table. Angle countered with a headfirst slam of his own. Angle then whipped Joe into the guardrail and Joe instantly grabbed his left knee. That probably played a part in the injury to follow.
[Commercial Break]
Rhino dropped Styles with a spinebuster out of the break. Angle took a tag and gave Joe a release German suplex. He then flipped Styles over with a German suplex. Angle went for the anklelock and Joe broke up the hold with a leaping kick to Angle's head. Joe came up grimacing and holding his knee. He then fought through the next few spots on Rhino like a pro. He went for the rear naked choke on Rhino, but Angle broke it up with an Olympic Slam. Styles then rolled up Rhino and hooked the tights for the win. Afterward, Rhino and Styles fought to the back. In the ring, Joe was hobbling on one knee. Angle then put Joe in the anklelock and Joe screamed in pain in center ring. They ended the show with Joe screaming on the mat.
WINNERS: Styles & Joe in 2:00 of TV time. With so much else happening on this show, they didn't give the main event much time to develop and it all felt very rushed. Good cliffhanger ending, though, with Angle trying to convince Joe to give him the re-match.
