This Is TNA - 02/12/2007

On Monday night, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and SpikeTV decided to send the first shot for the potential return of a Monday Night War as they aired this two hour special against the time slot for Raw that was pre-empted for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. This show features some of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling’s top matches as well as a countdown of the top moments in its nearly five year history.

We see Eric Young in a room with a bunch of barking dogs. Eric says that he is going to watch what he wants this year. He stops on TNA and he tells the dogs to watch the best wrestling on television today.

Your hosts are Mike ‘TNA’ Tenay and Don ‘you have got to be kidding me’ West and they are in the Impact Zone.

Christian Cage is walking into the Impact Zone and Mike Tenay talks about how TNA is the wrestling alternative with the most innovative wrestling today.

Match Number One: King of the Mountain Match from Slammiversary 2006: Jeff Jarrett defeats Sting, Abyss, Christian Cage, and Ron Killings to become the NWA World Heavyweight Champion
Jarrett attacks Killings in the ring while Christian and Sting take care of Abyss. Killings with a flying forearm to Jarrett while Killings and Christian with a double hip toss to Jarrett. Killings with a super kick to Christian for a two count. Sting and Abyss continue to battle on the floor. Christian sends Killings to the floor. Jarrett slams Christian’s head into the turnbuckles but Christian clotheslines Jarrett over the top rope to the floor. Christian with a cross body onto Jarrett on the floor. Killings and Sting exchange punches on Abyss. Abyss tries for a double choke slam on Killings and Sting, but Sting and Killings with a rake of the eyes. Killings with an axe kick to Abyss and then Killings with a somersault plancha onto Abyss, Christian, and Jarrett. Sting goes on top of the penalty box for a cross body onto all four opponents. Jarrett and Sting battle in the ring as Sting wears Jarrett down. Sting with a Stinger Splash on Jarrett. Killings goes up top and he hits a missile drop kick for a three count to send Jarrett into the penalty box and qualifies Killings to get the belt and hang it up. Sting puts Jarrett in the penalty box. James Mitchell sets up tables on the floor while Killings feels the fury of a ladder to the face from Christian. Christian gets a two count and it is broken up by Abyss. Abyss punches Christian and kicks him. Abyss chokes Christian in the ropes and then he tries to press slam Abyss, but Christian with a rollup for a three count to send Abyss to the penalty box and qualifies Christian to hang up the belt. While Abyss enters the cage, Jarrett is freed. Sting with a drop kick to Killings while Jarrett pulls Christian out of the ring and he slams Christian into the guardrails. We go to commercial.

We are back and Abyss and Jarrett hit Christian with the ladder. Killings gets on top of the ladder and Jarrett and Abyss send Killings to the floor. Christian and Sting with drop kicks to Sting and Jarrett. Christian opens the ladder and he places Jarrett inside the ladder. Sting punches Abyss while Christian tries to hang the title belt. Abyss gets Christian on his shoulders and both men go over the top rope to the floor. Killings sets up the ladder and he is stopped by Abyss who sends Killings to the floor. Abyss moves the ladder and that knocks down Earl Hebner. Jarrett grabs the belt, but James Mitchell signals for Doomsday. Abyss hits a Black Hole Slam and Jarrett is pinned. Abyss with a boot to Christian who tries to hit Abyss with a chair. Larry Zbyszko comes into the ring and he takes the belt from the referee. Abyss sits the chair on top of Christian and Abyss climbs the ladder. Sting pushes Abyss off the ladder and Abyss goes through the tables on the floor. Christian punches Sting, but Sting does not feel them and he responds with punches and a Stinger Splash. Sting puts Christian in the Scorpion Death Lock and Christian tries to get to the ropes. Jarrett comes in and he climbs the ladder with the belt, but Sting lets go of the Scorpion Death Lock and he goes after Jarrett. Jarrett tries to hit Sting with the guitar, but Christian grabs the guitar. Sting with the Scorpion Death Drop and puts Christian in the Scorpion Death Lock. Christian climbs the ladder but Larry Zbyszko with a low blow to Christian and then he throws him out of the ring. Zbyszko backs away from Sting, but Sting punches Larry. Jarrett tries for the Stroke, but Sting counters with the Scorpion Death Drop. Sting covers and makes the count for the referee. Sting grabs the belt and climbs the ladder, but Christian climbs the ladder as well. Christian and Sting fight on the top of the ladder, but Earl Hebner pushes the ladder. Jarrett climbs the ladder and he hangs up the belt as he is pelted by bottles.

We run through the celebrities who have appeared during TNA’s existence. We see footage of Toby Keith, the Road Warriors, Johnny Damon, Jim Duggan, Brian Urlacher, Johnny Fairplay, Chris Rose, Roddy Piper, A.J. Pierzynski, Dale Torborg, David Eckstein, , Chris Rock, Curt Hennig, Jake Roberts, Bobby Heenan, Scott Hall, the Tennessee Titans, Buff Bagwell, Insane Clown Posse, Lex Luger, Randy Savage, Tito Ortiz, Diamond Dallas Page, Tom Arnold, Jimmy Snuka, Dennis Rodman, Hulk Hogan, and Ken Shamrock.

Don and Mike are at the announce table and they talk about the movie stars, musicians, and athletes who have been a part of TNA. Don talks about Paparazzi Productions.

We go to a video package about Alex Shelley and how he has been a rogue cameraman for hire. We see footage of Alex Shelley taking video of Sting in California, Abyss stalking Christian and his wife, the LAX attack on Brother Ray’s uncle.

Eric Young is back and he is talking to one of the dogs about how he needs to put on the jets.

We see the Number Five Moment in TNA history, the arrival of Christian Cage in the Impact Zone. Christian says that it was huge on both sides. He was the biggest transaction of the company at that time. He says that he saw TNA as a company on the rise and the next big thing in the industry. It was something that he wanted to be a part of. We go to commercial.

We are back with the Number Four Moment in TNA history, the X Division Title Match at Unbreakable between Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, and A.J. Styles. A.J. talks about the match and he says that he thought it was the best match of the year and the best match in TNA history. Joe says that after that match, everyone knew what these three men would be willing to do. Christopher Daniels says that match was what the X Division and TNA was all about.

We go to a video package for the X Division and the Ultimate X. We see highlights of the Ultimate X matches. Senshi says that the Ultimate X is the peak of the X Division. Jerry Lynn says that it is like the X Games because there is no holding back. Christopher Daniels and A.J. Styles talk about the focus necessary for the match. Sonjay Dutt says that it takes a man who is ready for all challenges and obstacles. Chris Sabin says that mentally you have to be ‘not all there’ to be in this match. Christopher Daniels says that you need to distance yourself from feelings of pain. Jerry Lynn says that if you hesitate, that is when something bad is going to happen. Senshi talks about how you need to be totally prepared for the Ultimate X match. Sonjay says that not everyone can be a part of these matches. They run through the people who have been in the Ultimate X matches. They talk about A.J. Styles, Christopher Daniels, Senshi, Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, and Petey Williams.

Don and Mike are back and Mike says that the X Division is what separates TNA from the competition. Don says that the innovation also separates TNA from the competition. Don says that they will debut another new concept for the Destination X pay per view on March 11th.

We see a video package for the Six Sides of Steel match.

Match Number Two: LAX defeat A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels to become the NWA World Tag Team Champions at Bound for Glory 2006 inside Six Sides of Steel
The match begins and Styles goes after Hernandez while Daniels goes after Homicide. Homicide with a kick to Daniels, but Daniels with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker. Daniels and Styles double team Hernandez and Daniels with a drop toe hold followed by a knee drop from Styles and an elbow drop from Daniels. Things get under control as Daniels hits a jumping leg lariat on Hernandez. Styles is tagged in and he connects with elbows to Hernandez. Homicide tags in but Styles with a phenomenal drop kick. Styles with a forearm to Homicide and then Daniels is tagged back in. Daniels gets Homicide up for a belly-to-back suplex while Styles adds to the impact with a clothesline and Daniels gets a two count. Homicide throws Styles down as we go to commercial.

We are back and all four men are battling in the ring. Styles climbs to the top of the cage as he fights off Homicide and Hernandez. Homicide gets Styles for a superplex from the top of the cage and Daniels tries for a German suplex. Hernandez gets under Daniels and he hits a power bomb while Daniels hits a superplex on Homicide. Styles stays on the top of the cage and he hits a cross body on Hernandez and Styles only gets a two count after Homicide breaks things up. Homicide hits an Ace Cutter, but Daniels hits a Death Valley Driver on Homicide. Hernandez with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex throw. Hernandez goes up top and he misses a splash from the top of the cage. Daniels sets for Angel’s Wings on Hernandez while Homicide gets a hanger from Konnan and Homicide chokes Daniels. Konnan chokes Daniels from outside the cage while Styles punches Homicide and Hernandez. Styles with a spinning heel kick to Hernandez. Daniels with face driver from a belly-to-back position. Hernandez with a clothesline to Styles followed by the Gringo Killer on Styles for the three count.

Don and Mike return and Don mentions Lockdown on April 15th in St. Louis. Tickets go on sale this Friday. Mike points out that every match at Lockdown will be inside the Six Sides of Steel. We go to commercial.

We are back with the Number Three Moment in TNA history, Jeff Jarrett attacking Hulk Hogan in Japan. Jarrett says that Hogan was negotiating with TNA at the time. Jarrett says that Hogan was going to take credit for all of the work that people did. Jarrett says that he was not going to wait for Hogan.

Don and Mike talk about the special concept matches that are unique to TNA like the King of the Mountain Match, Six Sides of Steel Matches, and Ultimate X Match. They talk about the new concept that will be unveiled later tonight.

It is time to go through a video package about the history between Sting and Jeff Jarrett.

Match Number Three: Sting defeats Jeff Jarrett with Kurt Angle as ringside enforcer to become the NWA World Heavyweight Champion at Bound for Glory
Sting and Jarrett lock up to a stalemate. Jarrett with an arm drag followed by a side head lock into a hammer lock and another side head lock. Jarrett with a hip toss to Sting and Sting retreats to the ropes. We go to commercial.

We are back and both men hit cross body blocks and both men are down. The referee counts both men out and when the referee gets to nine, Kurt Angle comes in the ring and he hits the Angle slam on the referee and the straps are down as he wants the match to continue. Sting and Jarrett exchange punches, but Sting with the advantage. Sting with a reverse atomic drop followed by clotheslines. Sting with a Stinger Splash into the corner followed by the Scorpion Death Drop for a two count. Jarrett with the Stroke but he can only get a two count. Jarrett with a punch to Sting and then he gets Sting up for a tombstone piledriver, but Sting blocks it and he hits a tombstone of his own for a two count. Sting goes up top, but Jarrett with a low blow. Angle admonishes Jarrett and Jarrett tries for a Stroke from the turnbuckles. Sting gets out of the hold and he tries for a splash but Jarrett gets his knees up in time. Jarrett sets for the figure four leg lock and he locks it in. Sting turns it over and reverses the hold. Jarrett gets out of the hold and Jarrett puts Sting in the ankle lock. Sting rolls through and Jarrett goes outside the ring. Sting grabs the baseball bat, but Angle takes the bat from Sting. Jarrett hits Sting with the guitar, but Sting does not go down and he punches Jarrett and puts Jarrett in the Scorpion Death Lock and Jarrett taps.

We are back with Don and Mike. Don talks about the announcement for the new match at Destination X.

It is time to take a look at the issues between Christian Cage and Rhino and the video package that aired for their Bound for Glory match.

Match Number Four: Christian Cage defeats Rhino in the Eight Mile Street Fight at Bound for Glory
Rhino and Christian star the battle outside the building and Rhino and Christian exchange punches. Rhino slams Christian’s head into a vehicle in the parking lot. Rhino punches Christian and they work their way back into the building. They battle on the Zamboni and Rhino drives it into the ringside area. Rhino and Christian fight on top of the Zamboni and Rhino punches him off as we go to commercial.

We are back and Rhino and Christian fight on the apron as Christian tries to suplex Rhino to the floor. Rhino punches Christian back into the ring. They return to the apron and Rhino hits the Rhino Driver from the apron through a table. Rhino gets a two count when Christian puts his foot on the ropes. Rhino sets for a GORE through the table, but Christian side steps him. Rhino goes through the table and Christian gets a two count. Christian with the Unprettier on top of a piece of the table but Rhino kicks out at two. Christian puts a number of chairs, table fragments, and ladder on top of Rhino and Christian with a number of chair shots onto the ladder. Christian rolls over Rhino for the three count.

Jeremy Borash is in the back and he runs through the top moments that have already been revealed. It is time for the Number Two Moment in TNA history. Sting returns at Final Resolution. Konnan says that was a major moment because all of the major name talent was signed by the WWE. It was huge for Sting to sign with TNA. Jeremy Borash talks about how Sting was worried about how he would be received by the crowd. A lot of things were answered for Sting as well as for TNA.

Don and Mike wonder about the Number One Moment. Don talks about the feud between Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle. We see a video package on Kurt Angle and is arrival in TNA. We see the headbutt from Angle to Samoa Joe. We also saw footage of Joe and Angle from Bound for Glory. We go to the announcement that Joe and Angle would meet at Genesis. We see the comments that aired on the video packages before the match.

Match Number Five: Kurt Angle defeats Samoa Joe at Genesis
Angle and Joe posture around the ring and they finally lock up. Angle backs Joe into the ropes and there is a clean break. Angle with a take down and he goes for the leg, but Joe makes it to the ropes. Joe with a kick and knee to Angle followed by punches and a head butt. Joe kicks Angle and then he connects with a jab. Angle with a kick and then he hits an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Angle with a clothesline that sends Joe over the top rope to the floor. Joe pulls Angle outside the ring and he runs Angle’s head into the guardrail. Joe rolls Angle back in and he gets a two count. Angle with European uppercuts to Joe that back Joe into the corner. Angle with an Irish whip, but Joe moves when Angle charges at him and Angle hits the ring post with his shoulder. Joe with a suicide dive and we go to commercial.

We are back and Angle is bleeding as the action returns to the ring. Joe tries for the Choke, but Angle is able to roll through to escape. Angle with a kick to Joe for the Angle slam and Angle can only get a two count. The straps come down and he puts Joe in the ankle lock. Joe tries for the ropes, but Angle pulls Joe into the center of the ring. Joe counters with the Choke on Angle. Angle gets out of the choke and he counters into the ankle lock. Joe escapes and he sends Angle into the turnbuckles. Joe misses a charge and Angle with another Angle slam. The straps go up but then they go down again. Angle with the ankle lock and the leg grapevined. Joe tries for the ropes, but he cannot reach them and Joe taps.

We go to a video package that shows the most violent moments in Total Nonstop Action. We see barbed wire, tables, scalping, ladders, cage matches, thumb tacks, and blood. They do not do it for the multi million dollar contracts.

We return to Eric and he talks to two dogs named Brother Ray and Brother Devon. He says that it is all bark and no bite. He tells them to get the tables. We go to commercial.

We are back with a video package to unveil the Elevation X match. It talks about the other innovative matches like King of the Mountain and Ultimate X. Elevation X debuts at Destination X.

Mike Tenay is in the ring and he confirms that Elevation X will debut at Destination X. Mike thanks everyone for being here for this special and reminds us that Impact will air this Thursday in its regular time slot. Mike talks about the number one moment in TNA history and he says that they could not narrow it down to one. There are two moments that most influenced TNA. The announcement is interrupted by Christian Cage who walks to the ring with his title belt. Christian tells everyone to shut up since he is the champ. He tells Mike Tenay that he is not going to let some hack announcer with a cheap rental tuxedo ruin his moment with his peeps. He tells Tenay to get out of the ring right now. Tenay leaves the ring. Christian says that it is pretty obvious what the top two moments in TNA history are. They are when Christian won the NWA World Title for the first and second time. Through it all, he is what he says he is. He is an Instant Classic. He has three of the top five moments in TNA history. Christian suggests that he is good. He tells the monkeys in the truck to put on the top two moments. The first one is TNA’s debut on SpikeTV. Christian is incensed at this. The other moment is the debut of Kurt Angle from No Surrender. We go to credits.
