Wrestling News World reader Leonard G. Sims II attended Saturday night’s TNA Wrestling live event in my hometown of Beckley, West Virginia. He sent in the following report:
Here is the latest TNA IMPACT WRESTLING results from Beckley, WV
( 1.) Hernandez & Chavo Guerrero beat Joey Ryan & Matt Morgan
(2.) Knockout’s Champion, Tara defeated Velvet Sky
(3.) Kurt Angle & Bubba Ray beat Wes Brisco & Devon
(4.) Bobby Roode beat “Cowboy” James Storm.
(5.) TNA IMPACT WORLD CHAMPION, Jeff Hardy defeated Austin Aries in a Steel Cage Match.
Show started promptly at 7:30 PM. Jeremy Borash rang announced the event introducing Earl Hebner whoe out to chants of “I screwed Brett (Hart).” He pulled off his Referee shirt to reveal his own shirt – “Yes, I screwed Brett” to a chorus of boos.
Opener was good with Morgan having heat. Hernandez & Morgan used their size and strength against each other. Good opener, first chance for Beckley to see Chavo Guerrero live. He & Hernandez signed autographs during intermission. ***
(2.) Knockouts Title – Tara pinned Velvet Sky with her hands holding the ropes. Good action from start to finish. Sky left Tara laying in ring after a power bomb. *** 3/4
(3.) Kurt Angle came out with his two kids to address the fans about the recent ban of wrestling by the IOC. Go to change.org for more info. Devon & Wes Brisco attacked with Bubba Ray making the save. A challenge was issued by Kurt & Bubba in which Devon & Wes Brisco accepted. Match was great. Devon & Bubba Ray really seem to want to take each others heads off. Kurt pinned Brisco with Suplex slam. ****
(4.) Bobby Roode pinned Cowboy Shane Storm after an action filled match. Austin Aries hit Storm to help Roode get the win for 1/2 of the Tag Team Champs. ****
(5.) Cage Match for TNA IMPACT WORLD TITLE – Jeff Hardy p. Austin Aries. The match see-sawed back and forth. Both guys are really quick and nearly scaled over the cage. Bobby Roode came to ringside after Aries had collided with Referee Brian Hebner. The interference backfired and Hardy pinned Aries after his leap from the top rope. ****
The crowd was really into the show. The attendance was down from last year’s show due to the weather. Est. 2,500… The show closed with hundreds of fans lining up to have their pic with Champion Jeff Hardy an the Cage as a backdrop. Was also fearful the $75 ticket price would affect the Meet & Greet, but not sure if it did.
