Full Report From The "State Of TNA" Address On Bubba The Love Sponge - Hogan Disinterested Or Intoxicated
Written by Andrew on Jan 30, 2010 - 10:49:59 AM
Wrestling News World reader Andrew sent in the following report:
Below is a full report of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff's "State of TNA Address" from today's Bubba the Love Sponge Show on Sirius Satellite Radio:
-- Regarding Honky Tonk Man coming to TNA, Eric Bischoff said "I would rather drive a rusty ice pick through my eye than spend a day with The Honky Tonk Man." That's a direct word-for-word quote from Bischoff.
-- Bischoff went on to say that Honky Tonk Man is NOT negotiating with TNA. Apparently the heat with Honky Tonk Man stems from his days in WCW when he refused to do a job at a WCW pay-per-view.
-- A caller called in and asked about Dixie Carter wanting to make TNA more "family friendly" like WWE, and Hulk said "she's not going to get her way on that."
-- Regarding TNA going live on Monday's, Eric Bischoff said he hasn't heard anything about a permanent move. Hogan said it would be ideal to go live on March 1st because that gives them time to develop and prepare to go live.
-- Hogan said he would love to have Randy Savage come in and "manage his illigitimate son Black Machismo Jay Lethal."--A caller called in and asked where Vince Russo stands in the "pecking order" in TNA. Hulk explained that Eric Bischoff gets an overview of the shows that Vince Russo writes and straightens it out and then runs it by Hulk.
-- One of Bubba's co-hosts put over Lacey Von Erich saying that "she knows how to work" and Hogan said "you don't know anything." Bischoff then said about Lacey Von Erich, "She's one of the boys. She just needs a little work."
-- A caller if asked Eric Bischoff was over on Desmond Wolfe and Eric said that he liked Wolfe. Hogan said "He's on point, but he needs something more to really get there."
-- A caller asked if the "screw job" angle from Impact involving Kurt Angle and AJ Styles was a shot at Vince and WWE, and Eric Bischoff said "Kind of. We knew it would get people talking about the product. But you haven't seen the end of that story yet."--A caller asked if TNA would institute a "farm system" like FCW is to WWE, and Eric said "There's not a farm system as such, but they are affiliated informally with a few schools, like the Nasty Boys' school, and hopefully they will have a farm system soon."
-- Bubba asked what Hogan and Bischoff thought of Pope DeAngelo Dinero and Hogan said "I'm tired of seeing him lose."
-- Bubba then asked what they thought of Abyss and Hogan said "He's my next John Cena."--Bubba's co-host asked if TNA would be interested in any of the talent from FCW, and Hogan and Bischoff said "If they're free or available we'd be interested."
-- Bubba asked if Hulk or Eric had been contacted by any WWE stars about jumping ship, and Hogan simply replied, "Yep."--Regarding Sting, Hulk said he wished Sting would have gone "up north [to WWE] to get that side of the business."
-- Regarding workers doing light schedules (like Sting does), Hulk said you can't win against WWE if you can't rely on guys to be there when you need them.
-- A caller asked is there is any chance we will see Hogan V.S. Flair on TNA pay-per-view, and Hogan joked "I don't think he can keep up."
-- The caller then asked if we would see the Hulkamania Tour on DVD, and Bischoff said, "Not likely" because there is a television network and another promoter in Australia to contend with.
-- A caller called in and said, (and this is another direct quote), "Hulk, you are the worst scumbag in the wrestling business. You haven't had a good match since 1989." Hulk joked, "I didn't have a good match before 1989." The caller continued, saying that Hulk would never put anyone over, and Bubba replied, "Hulk put The Rock over at Wrestlemania." The argument continued for a few more minutes but it wasn't really terribly interesting.
-- A caller called in and asked why they would rip off the "screw job" angle from WWE saying "nobody wants to see that again." Bischoff countered saying "It was obvious by the minute-by-minute ratings that I saw that people did want to see that since it was the highest rated segment of the show.
-- A caller asked what Eric Bischoff thought of Vince McMahon both as a person and a promoter. Eric said, "There's no denying he's a great businessman. I kinda like him. It's not that I would go out and have a beer with him but I don't have a problem with him. I think he gets a lot of credit for things he doesn't deserve credit for."
-- Bischoff said that after the AOL/Time Warner merger happened, they had corporate suits telling them they needed to be more family friendly kind of like WWE is doing now.
-- A caller called in and said he was glad TNA got rid of the six-sided ring.
-- Bubba asked, "If there was one talent from WWE you could have, who would it be?" Hogan said, "Orton or Cena." He also said "They're not using Show [the Big Show] like they should. Bischoff said Big Show was lazy.
-- Eric then said he would love to have Chris Jericho. Bubba questioned why Eric buried Jericho in WCW, which caused Jericho to leave, and Eric said that was something Jericho made up to get into WWE.
-- Regarding Jericho, Hulk said he would also love to have Jericho in TNA.
-- A caller called in and asked why TNA feels the need to acknowledge WWE on their shows at all. Bischoff replied, "You can't win a fight if you don't throw a punch, and we're gonna win the fight."
-- The caller asked if there was any person in TNA that Hulk could have a match with who would it be. Hogan said it would be AJ Styles.
-- All in all, the segment was a bit of a let down. They didn't really reveal any major information, and Hulk seemed very disinterested. He sounded like he was either tired or intoxicated or maybe both. Whatever the case, he seemed out of it and very disconnected from the conversation, and Eric was the one providing most of the answers.
