TNA/IW Predicts – Lockdown

I have to say that I’m thrilled that TNA/IW is presenting Lockdown from Nashville, Tennessee this Sunday, April 15th. Not only is it great for the main event, but being outside of the Impact Zone can only help the crowd reaction and make a better PPV for all who watch. While there’s quite a few things that will bring this PPV down – all of which being over the age of 56, or child of said youngest – there’s a couple matches that could really make this the best PPV of the year for TNA/IW. That is unless they do another all X Division PPV, then that, even in performed in the Zone, will be the top PPV for TNA/IW, no questions asked. Either way, there’s some tight matches on this card that should be very entertaining.

Ken Predicts – Steel Cage Match for TV Championship – Devon (C) vs Robbie E

As much as I love Devon, this match will be a sleeper, or the time to run to the loo. I’m not at all with Robbie E’s character, even though I hear he’s a very nice guy in person. Either way, Terry will try to help Robbie, it will backfire and Devon will retain. Maybe it will lead to a later feud between Robbie and Robbie.

Ken’s Predicted Winner – Devon

Stacy’s Predicted Winner – Devon

Gesus Predicts – Steel Cage Match for TV Championship – Devon (C) vs Robbie E

I never knew this build was on impact at all. Am I missing something? I sort of figured the TV Title should be on TV. I really don’t care about this match at all. Who wins won’t matter. I am happy Devon is getting a singles title but at this point it’s pretty pointless.

Gesus’ Predicted Winner – Devon

Ken Predicts – Steel Cage Match – Matt Morgan vs Crimson

Again, as much as I love Morgan, I don’t expect too much from this match. I doubt they will be ending Crimson’s streak here, without much build. I don’t see Morgan being the one to end the streak. I still think the person to end it should be Joe or Angle. I’m not saying Crimson will get a clean win here, but I think he will walk out with his streak intact.

Ken’s Predicted Winner – Crimson

Stacy’s Predicted Winner – Crimson

Gesus Predicts – Steel Cage Match – Matt Morgan vs Crimson

This feud has been sort of lame. You can’t really do much when you are building someone as undefeated. Just back stage interviews talking smack about each other. These two are capable of so much more. I think the streak is a joke. I am not high on Crimson. He is undeserving of the streak. This match can have good wrestling but with the current news about Morgan and the dumb streak I sadly don’t see him getting the win he needs. Morgan has a lot of potential, just needs the right manager and he will be great for the future. I mean he was decent with Heyman for Team Lesnar. I think it had to do with his age at the time, but that’s neither here nor there. Long story short Crimson.

Gesus’ Predicted Winner – Crimson

Ken Predicts – Steel Cage Match for TNA Knockout Championship – Gail Kim (C) vs Velvet Sky

As great as Kim is, I think it’s time for Velvet Sky to win the strap and hold it for a good long while. Either Madison will cost Kim the Title, or won’t help her keep it. After Velvet wins it, both Kim and Madison will be going after her and the Title which will make their ‘friendship’ that much more interesting. I actually expect a lot from this match and think both will deliver. I just hope TPTB take notice.

Ken’s Predicted Winner – Velvet Sky

Stacy’s Predicted Winner – Velvet Sky

Gesus Predicts – Steel Cage Match for TNA Knockout Championship – Gail Kim (C) vs Velvet Sky

This match has seemed a bit underwhelming as well. I think realistically there is no female right now that can hold a flame to Gail’s abilities. Velvet Sky has paid her dues and is loyal to TNA. I just don’t see her as the champion. I think it would be the wrong time to take the title off Gail, but her reign has seemed a bit underwhelming. I see Madison getting involved and costing her the title.

Gesus’ Predicted Winner – Velvet Sky

Ken Predicts – Steel Cage Match for TNA World Tag Team Championship – Samoa Joe & Magnus (C) vs Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley)

OMFGWTFBBQ! I am so looking forward to this match. Other than the main event, this will be the match of the night. Heck, it might be even better than the main event. As great at the Guns are, and as much as I feel they should be Tag Team Champs again, I don’t think it’s quite time. I love Joe and Magnus with the Titles and think it would be great if they maintained their time at the top for a bit. I think a solid feud between these two teams needs to come about, the way the Guns feuded with BMI. I think Joe and Magnus as a team are very capable of giving the Guns a run for their money and keep the fans sublimely interested.

Ken’s Predicted Winner – Joe & Magnus

Stacy’s Predicted Winner – Guns

Gesus Predicts – Steel Cage Match for TNA World Tag Team Championship – Samoa Joe & Magnus (C) vs Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley)

This should be match of the night in my opinion. Though it may be tough to beat Storm and Roode, these guys have the potential, given enough time. It is great to see the MCMG’s back in action. They were sorely missed. I hope with the MCMG’s back the tag team will be revamped. It would be a great way for TNA to get viewership. If they found a way to put emphasis on Tag Teams, Knockouts and cruiser weight division it would hopefully carve out a niche that will give them an edge over WWE. Then again this is TNA we are talking about. Back to the match though, all 4 of these men can flat out go. I still would prefer to see DW in the mix, with Joe and Magnus, I’ll take what I can get. I love Joe he is a machine. I think it would be wise to have them cheat to win and let MCMG’s chase the titles for a bit.

Gesus’ Predicted Winner – Joe & Magnus

Ken Predicts – Steel Cage Match – Jeff Hardy vs Kurt Angle

Honestly, I really don’t want to see this match. Between how I feel about Hardy – though showing up fit to compete will be a big step in the right direction for him getting back into my good graces – I think Dixie’s soft spot for Angle will show through here. Dixie has become good friends with certain guys on the roster, specifically Sting and Angle. I think because of this, even though she has a soft spot for Hardy, that she will be pushing for Angle to win this one. Do I think it will be a clean win? Heck no! I see Angle again cheating to win, then being arrogant about it when Hardy calls him on it on Impact.

Ken’s Predicted Winner – Angle

Stacy’s Predicted Winner – Angle

Gesus Predicts – Steel Cage Match – Jeff Hardy vs Kurt Angle

First of all, it makes me sad that Angle can no longer compete in the Olympics. I would have loved to see what he could do. He is a lot older and wiser, it would have been an entertaining game changer for amateur wrestling in the Olympics. This match should be interesting to watch. I don’t see anything special happening there. Maybe Kurt going for a moonsault and missing like usual. They will both take big risks and show off. I don’t think realistically Jeff could ever hang 5 mins in ring with Angle. Angle is just a monster, easily best wrestler in the business today. I see TNA giving Angle a monster push now that he won’t be in the Olympics.

Gesus’ Predicted Winner – Angle

Ken Predicts – Steel Cage Match – Team Eric (Eric Bischoff [Captain], Gunner, Bully Ray, Christopher Daniels, Kaz) vs Team Garett (Garett Bischoff [Captain], AJ Styles, Austin Aries, Mr. Anderson, Rob Van Dam) – If Eric wins, Garett leaves TNA/IW. If Garett wins, Eric leaves TNA/IW and renounces his Bischoff name.

If this wasn’t such a blatant WrestleMania knockoff, I might be interested. Wait, no, I wouldn’t. It’s really crappy to see some really great wrestlers being reduced to this match. While parts of this match could be great, it’s the overall match that has me annoyed. If ‘loser leaves town’ matches actually followed suit, I wouldn’t have a problem with this and would want both teams to lose so we could get rid of both Bisch’s in one fell swoop! Honestly I think Team Garett will win so Bisch either drops to a non-televised role, or he will pull some contract crap to stay on the show, or use Flair somehow. Sadly, I don’t think it’s the end of either Bisch or his boy.

Ken’s Predicted Winner – Team Garett

Stacy’s Predicted Winner – Team Eric

Gesus Predicts – Steel Cage Match – Team Eric (Eric Bischoff [Captain], Gunner, Bully Ray, Christopher Daniels, Kaz) vs Team Garett (Garett Bischoff [Captain], AJ Styles, Austin Aries, Mr. Anderson, Rob Van Dam) – If Eric wins, Garett leaves TNA/IW. If Garett wins, Eric leaves TNA/IW and renounces his Bischoff name.

I generally really like Lethal Lockdown matches. My only beef is that they don’t produce any memorable moments. They are usually plagued with a bad story lines. This year is no different. This match is just stupid. I don’t care about it at all. I know TNA has put a lot of effort into promoting this match, but I simply don’t care.

Gesus’ Predicted Winner – Double DQ

Ken Predicts – Steel Cage Match for TNA World Heavyweight Championship – Bobby Roode (C) vs James Storm

Yay! It’s about time! This is the other match on the card that I’m really looking forward to. This should be a lot of fun! I expect both of these men to go all out in this match. After everything on the card, this match should whip the crowd into a total frenzy. As much as I don’t think concerts should be involved with wrestling, it would be cool to see Montgomery Gentry, possibly have them sing before the PPV starts or after Storm wins, but that’s just me as I like country music and this show will be in Nashville! Okay, back to the match. I expect to see Roode trying to cheat a couple times through this, and possibly succeed in cheating, somehow (one of his entourage slipping him weapons through the cage?), but not winning that way. In the end, after a fabby match, Storm will hit the last call and will get the win as well as the Title. This will light a fire under Roode as he tries to argue any and all reasons as for why Storm win was not legal and why he should still be Champion. This, of course, will lead to a rematch down the line.

Ken’s Predicted Winner – Storm

Stacy’s Predicted Winner – Storm

Gesus Predicts – Steel Cage Match for TNA World Heavyweight Championship – Bobby Roode (C) vs James Storm

Finally a match I am excited for! These two know each other better than they know themselves. I love seeing them go head to head. There should be quite the story told in this match. I have loved Roode’s heel run. At first it was a bit underwhelming and left a lot to be desired, but he really has come into his own. Storm as well. Like many, I was worried about their singles run. The two have done a very good job. I am hoping for a straight up brawl with the already mentioned story. We are in for a real treat. I think with the amount of heat Roode is generating it would be a mistake for him to lose the title. I see for something screwy to happen in this match and Roode retains.

Gesus’ Predicted Winner – Bobby Roode

Ken

Okay, maybe the card didn’t look as good as I first thought, but three, possibly four, of the matches could be great. Hopefully TNA/IW will stay on track and not get too screwy with the booking of this PPV. Make sure you check out WNW for up to the minute information on Lockdown as it happens.

Gesus

Sorry if I seem overly negative for Lockdown. I have tried my best to be excited for this pay per view but so far there are only 2 matches that make me want to buy it. TNA keeps taking 2 steps forwards and 3 back. It is getting exhausting. I hope I am proved wrong and they put on a great pay per view. I hope you all enjoy the show.

First off, you guys and I are pretty much on the same page for this PPV. It is good to see wrestling fans use their brains and form educated opinions. Last year’s Lockdown Team Vs. Team match eas BRUTAL. Flair, Abyss, Matt Hardy and Bully Ray were perfect together in my opinion. This year I don’t care about the teams. Garrett has 3 former heavyweight champs on his side which a crock. Eric is more of an asset to the industry that Garrett ever will be, so it seems pointless. For the first time 15 years of watching wrestling I want the heelst to win in about every match. Except Robbie E. The guy should get an edgier gimmic. I like Roode and Storm, but it seems vital that Roode holds onto the belt. Maybe they can add some depth to their relationship with match and actually SURPRISE the audience for once. Does anyone who pulls the string in TNA read your work? They should. It would make product infinitly better. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the PPV.
