Triple H Calls Daniel Bryan A “185 Pound Sawed-Off Midget” In New Kayfabe Interview

This week’s kayfabe Triple H interview with Michael Cole is now online. Below are the highlights:

  • Hunter talked about being busy last week in Orlando, putting on a successful NXT ArRIVAL show. Cole talked about a Tweet he made that it was convenient that Hunter wasn’t there the week when Daniel Bryan first challenged him to a match at Wrestlemania XXX.
  • Cole said Hunter laid out a lot of different reasons on Raw why he wouldn’t give Daniel Bryan a match at Wrestlemania. He asked for the true reason. Triple H asked if he wanted him to run the whole list or just to start at the top? How about the fact he’s COO? He’s very busy. He doesn’t have the time. Cole reminds him he’s had very high profile matches in the past being COO. Triple H said so you’re going to compare The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar, A+ players, to a challenge by Daniel Bryan? He said it’s a world of difference and he’s a B+ player and it’s going to take a whole helluva lot more than Daniel Bryan for him to take his time, life and dedication to the WWE Universe to get him to lace up his boots at Wrestlemania.
  • Cole asked him how long he was going to deny that the WWE Universe wants Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania. Hunter said there’s no denying they want it, there’s no denying Daniel Bryan thinks he wants it. He said, careful what you wish for. Triple H said imagine the thunderous reaction on Raw being turned into silence and embarrassment on the grandest stage of them all and he’s trying to protect them from themselves.
  • Michael said then why not end it at Wrestlemania and face him? Triple H questioned why even bother for a good B+ player, the t-shirt sales, the movement. He said what’s good for business is for Daniel Bryan to do his little B+ schtick over there and do his own thing. Let the immortals be the showcase of the immortal. Hunter asked Cole if he thought Bryan was the first guy that tried to ride his coattails to Wrestlemania.
  • Cole questioned what if Bryan beat Triple H in front of 80,000 in the Superdome, all doing the Yes chant. Hunter said in your version of the world, in the fly-by earlier in the day by the military, are they flying monkeys or pigs? Let’s live in the real word. Triple H said he’s 185 pound sawed-off midget. And he’s going to get in the ring with him? Triple H said if wanted rid of him, he’d just fire him. He’s not going to embarrass and humiliate him in front of the world. Hunter said he has value and the people love the little guy but they have no idea what they’re asking for.
  • Michael Cole asked Triple H if he was scared of Daniel Bryan. Hunter answered, ‘honestly?’ Cole said everyone he has spoken with believes Triple H is afraid of Daniel Bryan. Triple H said the answer to your question is the exact same answer to Daniel Bryan’s question – ‘no.’

  • Bob’s Diner

This “B+ player” thing is getting old real fast – can he think of other insults to use?
Also, I love how they are trying to tell the fans what they want. As far as I can tell, the crowds at the last two Raws weren’t that excited by a HHH/Daniel Bryan match

    • http://wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Theophilus McFadden

The interview is kayfabe. He’s making you hate him and be frustrated with him.

      • Simon Veitch

He’s got a point about the fans not wanting HHH/Bryan, it’s amusing as all hell how they chant “Yes” for wanting retribution but once they suggest HHH/Bryan the fants chant “No”.

I do agree with you though, the interview is kayfabe and as expected, Hunter has to be arrogant and rude and dismissive so that people don’t cheer for him at all. They want to make people hate him, so that they’ll cheer Bryan on to kick the crap out of him at WrestleMania

        • Padres4life

Bryan can beat most of the roster in a real life fight, yet people continue to dismiss him due to size.

          • Simon Veitch

Without a doubt, there’s a huge difference between the muscle bound freaks, and the smaller and more gifted technical wrestlers. The few that stand out in my mind are the altercations between Booker T and Batista, as well as Jericho and Goldberg (unless I’m mistaken?)

          • Duke

Lol please, Bryan would get his a** kicked in a real fight by 90% roster. He might be able to take Hornswoggle in a fight, I’ll give him that.

          • Padres4life

no for real, Bryan would win…so you think just because he’s small he can’t fight? Jericho took down Goldberg easily.

      • Bob’s Diner

I’m aware… just how many times can one character say the same insult before it gets old? Come up with something else, because he’s been saying “B+ player” since August now. Yawn.

HHH doesn’t need to do a kayfabe interview to make people hate him…

        • http://wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Theophilus McFadden

He’s doing it to annoy. He realizes exactly what he’s doing. He’s also doing it very well. It’s got you worked up, no? As for hating him, I don’t know him personally.

          • Bob’s Diner

Not worked up – bored. Hence the “Yawn”

    • John

The whole thing is getting really old. Even Bryan is starting to come across as very whinny & constantly complaining.. You would never see The Rock or Austin acting like that when they were the top stars.

      • Padres4life

because the Rock and Austin weren’t written like that….yeah Bryan goes out there and whines because he wants to, really?

        • John

I am well aware that wrestling is scripted thank you! My point was that he is being booked as being weak.

  • Guest

HHH is going to put himself over DB at WM, the writing is on the wall…

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

      na DB will win it.

  • Padres4life

why do they continue to make fun of DB? he gets made fun of more than anyone else? “sawed off midget” “garden gnome” “goat face” he gets called all kinds of names on national TV, i thought they were done with this? I thought they were turning a corner? it seems like they’re sabotaging him again..

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

      They have always insulted people..

  • jason witten 82

I hope triple h squashes bryan in the opener just to see the riot at the dome. But honestly why are they so against putting bryan in the title match? He definitly earned it this year

    • Bob’s Diner

Because Bootista most likely has it in his contract that he is winning the title at WrestleMania and having Daniel Bryan lose in the title match will not go down well with the crowd. Having him pin HHH at the end of the show will at least get cheers

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

They are not against putting him in a title match, he has been in title matches.

      • jason witten 82

Im talking the title match at mania, it should be the most obvious choice but they keep fighting it

    • Rayner Chee-bai

…and watch the crowd slowly left the main event

  • Rayner Chee-bai

First, Hunter is burying Bryan smoothly in an interview. Really, B+ player? 185lbs sawed midget? I’ve been hearing that since after SummerSlam so at least come out with something fresh.

Next, no way in hell Bryan will go over him at WrestleMania.

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

Not really burying when they’re building towards a main event match at WM, and yes Bryan will probably will go over, HHH has nothing to gain anymore.

      • Rayner Chee-bai

I hope you’re right although history doesn’t speaks that way. Remember Punk vs. Hunter at Nights of Champion 2011? Hunter has nothing to gain anymore, true. The “conspiracy theory” angle has been build-up decently with The Awesome Truth and the mix of Cena-Del Rio but why does it end up with Hunter vs. Nash at TLC?

  • http://wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Theophilus McFadden

I promise I’m not doing the “too-cool-for-the-room” thing but it’s great to watch HHH work people like this. Everyone’s getting all hot and bothered by a kayfabe interview and by HHH’s on-screen personality. He’s heeling it up and everyone’s going for it. I honestly think it’s so cool that this can happen in 2014. I’m quite purposely enjoying that fact that HHH is under my skin. Glad everyone else is too…seriously.

    • Xavier

It’s funny too see people actually get worked up over this. Smarks are becoming the new marks.

  • Xavier

Did people not catch the part where it said “kayfabe”? Triple H is in character, he’s a heel therefore he’s suppose to make fun of Bryan. It’s called wrestling 101. C’mon people use your head here

    • Padres4life

HHH has made it pretty clear he’ll do the job i think.
