As we reported here on WrestlingNewsWorld.com, Roberts was asked about Warrior’s induction on the Busted Open radio show. When it was stated the two career’s couldn’t be compared, Roberts said:

“I know, man! I know that. But maybe they’re taking in assholes and not great talent. I don’t know.”

warrior is 100 percent right in this regard. warrior is one of the few guys from his era who did not fall prey to drug abuse and yes, I know he used STEROIDS but BIG DEAL. steroids were legal in the usa without a prescription until 1991.
jake Roberts is pushing 60 and is still battling his “demons”. warrior is happily married, has 2 daughters and successfully moved on from the pro wrestling circus years ago.

    • Mike McCarthy

This has to be one of the most disgusting comments I have ever read on this website. Roberts is completely entitled to his opinion about Warrior but Warrior attacked his religion and his drug addiction. Drug/alcohol addiction in no scenario is OK to criticize, the way you phrase this you make it seem like Roberts is proud of the fact that he had to battle addiction rather than enjoy his life with his family. His sister was kidnapped and murdered, his parents married because his father got his mother pregnant when raping her. The dark side of Roberts life was brought upon him against his will and the fact that he had to resort to drugs and alcohol to try and make himself feel happy is terrible. He went through all of this and still put together a historic career in the wrestling industry. To judge Roberts on something that he didn’t ask to happen to him is utterly disgusting and is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen a human being do. You are by far one of the most terrible people I have ever had the misfortune of crossing paths with. You are the definition of a scumbag.

      • Bob’s Diner

Where did Warrior criticize Roberts’ drug addiction?

Roberts called Warrior an “asshole” and is seeking glorification via the WWE Hall of Fame. He deserves it, for sure, but to act he deserves it over others is petty and certainly shouldn’t be considered acceptable by a Christian standard.

Oh man… never thought I would see the day where I was defending the Ultimate Warrior

        • Venom

Bob’s Diner I’m surprised how you and I share similar views a lot especially when I first started posting I think we disagreed on a few topics.

          • Bob’s Diner

Haha all good – I totally understand

        • Mike McCarthy

Sorry, I mistyped. The person commenting is the one criticizing his drug abuse. In my personal opinion, neither Roberts nor Ultimate Warrior were right. I just feel that Warrior was more wrong due to his comments on Roberts religion. Roberts attacked Warrior’s talent, though I feel it was unnecessary and uncalled for, it’s something that happens frequently in the wrestling industry.

          • Bob’s Diner

That’s cool. I’ve just seen far too much hate online about Warrior getting into the Hall of Fame this year. I’m not sure if it is just a younger fan-base or people going with the crowd, but the guy was a mega star in the late 80′s/early 90′s and deserves it – especially after WWE released a DVD to completely bury the guy

Personally, I am going to blame the guy that interviewed Jake Roberts and his comment about Warrior’s career not being as good as Jake’s. That was stupid and was obviously said to illicit some type of negative reaction from Roberts

          • Mike McCarthy

I definitely think it’s the younger fan base. Hard to support a guy when you never saw him live or in person

      • Venomv

While I agree with you POV, however, Roberts did the first punch first. Hogan on the other hand, has had heat with Warrior, said he’s deserving of this on TMZ. I think Roberts deserves to be in the hall of fame as I was a huge fan growing up that my parents bought me a big green toy snake that’s almost real looking that when my brother and I used to play wrestle and after winning the match I’d put the fake snake on him. Just to imitate our heroes like kids imitating ultimate warrior or hulk hogan.

Too bad jake has to say a comment like that cause I’d be shocked if wwe decides to induct him this year since they already have a loose canon in warrior.

        • Mike McCarthy

Like I said in my reply to Bob’s Diner, my problem isn’t solely with Warrior’s comments because like you said Roberts threw the first punch. I think the jab at his religion was very uncalled for, but my main problem is with “dean” and his comment which I believe was extremely offensive.

          • dean

go to hell you insensitive prick. I don’t have sympathy for drug addicts. warrior has never had to “beg” wwe for free drug rehab.

          • Bob’s Diner

            Dude… chill out

          • Mike McCarthy

I’M THE INSENSITIVE PRICK!?!?! YOU’RE A PATHETIC WASTE OF SPACE, YOU’RE ATTACKING AN INNOCENT HUMAN BEING, WHOSE LIFE WAS SO TERRIBLE THAT HE HAD TO RESORT TO TAKING DRUGS JUST TO MAKE HIMSELF FEEL BETTER. YOU’RE A HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING. ROBERTS NEVER BEGGED FOR ANYTHING, WWE OFFERS FREE REHABILITATION TO ANY OF THEIR FORMER EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE DRUG ADDICTIONS. MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR SOUL.

          • dean

go tell your sob story to the ultimate warrior and get his response because he is not a moron like you who looks up to drug addicted pro wrestlers who are wastes of space when they refuse to grow up and accept responsibility for their OWN LIVES.
you are the waste of space aND have feces for brains if you think jake Roberts is an innocent human being. I guess some one forced the alcohol down his throat and the drugs up his nose.

          • Bob’s Diner

            Seriously??!?!
Dude, chill out! How can you not feel embarrassed to post stuff like this? I don’t know Mike, but he sure doesn’t deserve comments like this – regardless of one’s opinion on drugs or religion.

You seem to be worked up because someone insulted someone else, yet you are making FAR WORSE insults. Pretty sure Warrior wouldn’t approve of you talking like this…

          • dean

I only got upset because a poster attacked me just because I don’t “feel sympathy” for jake Roberts’ problems. I don’t know these fake wrestlers and neither do you people.
over the years, WARRIOR has lashed out at losers like scott hall and jake Roberts for being losers and wastes of space. WARRIOR even told them to overdose on drugs and to put an end to their worthless lives.
WARRIOR has bashed guys like Hogan, Flair and sting for staying in the rassling business into their 50′s.
I don’t know warrior but I RESPECT him because he is a straight shooter and not some bleeding heart liberal or dirt sheet writer who blames vince McMahon and expect him to babysit these guys for the rest of their lives.

          • Bob’s Diner

You respect a guy that said others should overdose and die?
Sounds like you have an awesome hero, right there

          • Conservatives SUCK

Another punk a** teabagger spreading his BS Political talk I see. Do us all a favor and take a nap in the middle of the road

          • Guest

And with a username like that, you’re any better?

          • Nostaljack

I know that, on the surface, it looks like they do horrible things they should be able to control and “why don’t they just leave that crap alone and pull themselves out of it?” The awful truth is that chemical addiction is just that…addiction. They want to walk away and they think it’s just as crazy as you do. Their body and mind simply won’t let them. Addiction takes complete control of all thoughts and actions and common sense is completely eliminated. I grew up with an addict and it was awful. He’s been in recover for many years so his story has a happy ending but not all of them do. It also didn’t happen without rehab and a total re-routing of his thoughts and his life in general. Jake is finally getting all of that together now and I couldn’t be happier for both Scott Hall and him. They’re both going to actually survive…and it’s wonderful.

          • Venom

That’s y I said I see your points. But at the same time warrior only pointed out something that has a point as well. While I don’t like talking about religion I’ll give you an example.

If someone claims they’re from a religious loving family yet they do recreational drugs for fun. Not to cope with pain but just for fun with their friends, sleeps around, swears, manipulates people yet still goes to church once a week to a late mass and confesses their sins only to redo everything all over again. What would you call that?

Where I come from its being a hypocrite. And my example was based on someone I know btw.

Yes people do mistakes and if this was Jake commenting like that a few years ago then sure he’s got his demons. However, this is supposed to be a healthy jake Roberts who’s sober and knows right from wrong. He made a mistake by calling Warrior an asshole. Warrior pointed out that someone who’s all religious yet calls him an asshole while clean (knows what he’s doing) which is hypocritical. I do a lot of bad things swearing, partying every now and then, but I don’t publicize my religion either.

      • dean

you are the scum bag. I have ZERO respect for drug addicts. I don’t cared about jake Roberts and his “demons”. he should be a MAN and take RESPONSIBILITY for his life choices.

        • Mike McCarthy

He is taking responsibility for it you moron, that’s why he went and got help.

          • dean

jake has been “getting help” for years but he falls off the wagon again and again.

          • Judas

addiction isn’t something you fight once, but every day. since you clearly don’t know that, you clearly know nothing and your opinions on the matter are worthless.

          • dean

I don’t have sympathy for jake’s addictions. all of his “demons” are self-inflicted and that goes for every other drug addicted wrestler.
Even vince McMahon ADMITTED to CONGRESS that the only reason why he gives free drug rehab to ex talent is for PUBLIC RELATIONS purposes.

          • Judas

again, you have no knowledge on the subject so your feelings on the matter are moot. move along.

          • mike

Yea dean. Being sexually molested as a child was jakes fault. What a loser he is. He should take responsibility for that happening right? sounds like you.ve have such a hard life that you can judge how a person should live theres. Cos if you were sexually molested as a child you would just get on with it and live happily ever after.

        • Mysterion

You’re sickening and deplorable to be totally honest. Addiction isn’t a choice, you know? It’s not something people wake up in the morning and think “I know what’s fun”. It’s a battle. One Jake has every right to be proud of now he’s winning. People like you make me sick. It’s ok, I’ll go to hell before you tell me. Or I would, if I believed in it.

    • Nostaljack

Battling his demons…and finally winning! Forgot about that, didn’t you?

      • JJ

Roberts was in rehab in the last 6 months he’s hardly winning his battles with demons when he can’t put down the bottle for a year.

        • Nostaljack

Give him time. Everyone has to start somewhere and I seriously doubt he’s been sober this long in many, many years. I think this is going to “take” so I’m optimistic. Same with Scott Hall.

  • Bob’s Diner

Ultimate Warrior vs Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts at WrestleMania XXX for a Hall of Fame induction! Book it now!

Sorry, just thought we needed something light-hearted in here to relieve the tension…

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

Just thinking that, that would be an awkward match to watch.

    • Mike McCarthy

Believe me, you’ve already done your part. Only so few people can keep a cool head on such a sensitive topic.

      • Bob’s Diner

I hope you don’t take too much offense from his comments. Having read other comments from ‘dean’ on this site, he is obviously very immature. I apologise if I caused any offense as well – really didn’t expect someone to take things this far. Like I said earlier, I totally get what you are saying. Addiction really isn’t something we should be making fun of people for and I think most fans are happy to see Jake Roberts doing better

  • Venom

Ok guys Jake Roberts issued an apology claiming that he was trying to be entertaining on the radio show and took it too far. This pretty much how I took it that he made a comment without thinking. I still think Warrior had a valid point in firing back but I’m in no way a warrior fan based on his comment about Droz a few years back even though I’m sure he was just angry and made a comment without thinking regarding the DVD about him.

    • Bob’s Diner

Look at that – Jake Roberts proving he is the classier guy. Take note, dean and your hero WARRIOR!!!

Now we can all move on to more pressing concerns, like getting Brutus ‘the Barber’ Beefcake announced as the next inductee!

  • GODSENT68

Jake responded on Twitter this afternoon:“My guys showed me Warrior’s tweets. I was trying to be entertaining with the radio show and took things too far, like I do too often. I have no business inferring anything negative about him. I apologize. He deserves the HOF and respect for what he accomplished in the business. But let me be clear. There is no hypocrisy here. I am not preaching anything. I am sharing my recovery path to show others what is possible. So no pity, bathrooms stalls or groveling. I am doing great. I am an addict and alcoholic working every single day to repair and make the best out of the life I have left. I make mistakes, like that comment, but my recovery has been amazing. Jim does not know this Jake. Without realizing or intending to, I fired the first shot and will take Jim’s response without any negativity towards him. I apologize and am putting behind me.”

  • Herman Tank

Well, really…they’re both losers. Much like the majority of the steroid abusing has-beens of the 80′s. But hopefully Jake’s imaginary friend can help keep him off of his demons and hopefully the Warrior says something really stupid at the hof ceremony to make Vince and Co look like the douches they are. Thus ruining a completely pointless affair.

    • Jerad Metzler

AT first i though the ultimate warrior was a nice guy.but after hearing everything he has said about all the wrestlers except the macho man is really sad.here is a guy who’s whole body was built from steroids and who was a bodybuilder before He was a wrestler.he never started out with the passion like Jake did. warrior is one of the last people in the wrestling industry who should judge anyone let alone someone with addiction problems.i do not respect warrior the person because of how he has treated his so called “brothers of the ring” these past few years. i only respect him as a wrestler because that’s what i grew up on.least Jake is trying to heal old wounds with people he has hurt in the past and not judge people like Warrior has.I have been friends with Jake Roberts on Facebook for awhile now and i donated 15 bucks to help with surgery because of how much he has changed from DDP yoga and as a person.Dean you are just like all the other assholes online who talk shit to everyone but do not have the balls to tell Jake this to his face on twitter or facebook. same goes with Herman tank another asshole who knows nothing about Jake roberts!
