Update On Brodus Clay After WWE Release; Richard Reacts

TMZ has an update on Brodus Clay following his release from WWE on Thursday. The publication reports that Clay is going to Japan to protect dolphins from being captured and killed.

He’s booked the trip to protest dolphin hunting, something he’s been passionate about since seeing “The Cove.”

While “bummed” about losing his job with WWE, Brodus plans to pursue a career in acting and wants to write a book.

You can read their coverage at this link.

Richard Reacts: I truly believe WWE missed the boat with Brodus Clay. There aren’t many workers that could have gotten the Funkasaurus gimmick over and he took it further than I think anyone thought he could. It seemed like he was going to breakout under the heel role he should have had to begin with but was relegated back to NXT and ultimately released. He’s a talented guy and has already had a good career (he was Snoop Dogg’s bodyguard). I believe there will be opportunities for him in acting and getting released from WWE will probably open up other opportunities.

once you are labeled a comedy act you will never recover. good luck Brodus

I dunno…Daniel Bryan was reduced to comedy with Team Hell No. Went on to win 3 WWE titles after, including a clean win over John Cena. But I see your point, as Bryan could easily be seen as the exception to the rule.

Brodus cut one of the most impressive, out-of-nowhere promos I’d ever seen when he was eliminated from NXT. In 30 seconds he made an elimination promo into an incredible amount of heat, and I really thought he was going places after that. It’s a shame it never really materialized, because I think there was money in him, but it’s cool to see that he’s apparently not dwelling on his release.

If he’s going to Japan He should probably try and get booked there.
He would be a good fit for the bullet club staple in New Japan.

Completely missed the boat. They should have taken him and Tensai and made them a monster heel tag team. Both have talent and they could have been great with a manager.

If dolphin and whale had not nuked Hiroshima and Nagaski the Japaneese wouldn’t hunt and kill them.

I agree with everything Richard said….why put him on the Scooby Do DVD if he was going to be cut?
