In an interview with theScore's Arda Ocal (@arda_ocal) WWE legend and current official WWE Ambassador Sgt. Slaughter reveals that he was originally talked about to play a part in the newest GI Joe movie, along side Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. In the interview, Slaughter divulges that the character played by Bruce Willis was originally going to be Sgt. Slaughter, with he as the leading candidate to play the role. Slaughter was featured in an animated GI Joe movie in the 1980s.

Other topics discussed in the interview include how close he was to not portraying an Iraqi Sympathizer in the WWE, the iconic promo where he burns Hulk Hogan's shirt and how the original idea was to burn the American flag and Slaughter's reaction, and more

In other words, Sarge was never even considered and just wants us all to think he was.

Sarge was a main character in the G.I. JOE cartoon series back in the mid 80’s. Actually the episodes that he started to be in were just on The Hub, 294 on DirecTv, at 12:30am this past week. The show had been on for a couple years before they added his character in, I believe, the 1986 season. Him and his “soldiers” were also having tug of war competitions against the monster truck Bigfoot at Tractor Pull / Monster Truck shows around that time. Lol. So Sarge was a kids favorite at that time. But as far as him being in the new G.I. JOE movie I just don’t see it. He’s a bit too old to be playing himself from almost 30 years ago.

Big brother is the best show ever!
And the only reason I like frank is because of his father

I believe the Sgt. Slaughter character of GI Joe fame was added because of the Sgt. Slaughter character of wrestling fame. It was good in its day, but to have Sgt Slaughter starring in the new movie would have been a disaster. He's not the same man anymore; he's just too old. Bruce Willis was an excellent choice. Also, I love the Rock, but I think casting him in the role of Roadblock was a mistake. They should have used Michael Clark Duncan. The character Roadblock is a BIG man. Dwayne is built, but not as big as the character of Roadblock. Michael would have fit the role much better.
