Vince McMahon Calls Financial Results Lousy, “Total Divas” A Home Run, WWE App Downloads

Vince McMahon said WWE’s 2013 Second Quarter Financial Results were “lousy.” He stressed not to dwell on the numbers and touted the following:

  • Wrestlemania 29 buys were lower [from last year] but it was the highest grossing pay-per-view in the company’s history.
  • An E! executive told Vince that the “Total Divas” premiere was a “home run.”
  • Vince stressed WWE is a “safe environment” for sponsors to be associated with. He said they are now working with Kraft and mentioned Doritos as the primary sponsor of SummerSlam
  • The WWE App has close to 7,000,000 downloads

It seems like every year the Financial Results are a big disappointment. I thought this whole “PG Era” garbage was bringing in money?

I think in today’s economy WWE is doing whats best for business. A PG era is monetarily more “safe” with sponsors then a TV-14 era. You have to admit the WWE’s product is a better PG today then when they first changed. Vince even admitted they went too PG at first. Also, WCW was PG before the Monday Night Wars
