Hello and welcome to The Revamped Weekly Rundown, hosted by yours truly, Guy Landau. For those who do not know, this is a weekly feature on WrestlingNewsWorld.com where I gloss over the important happenings in the week in WWE as it pertains to the company’s present and future in RAW and NXT in the form of bulletins for the positive happenings (A.K.A “YES!”, prefaced with + signs), the negative happenings (A.K.A “NO!”, prefaced with – signs), and the ones I could not decide what they were, but felt they were important enough to comment on (prefaced with ? signs).
Now, without further ado, let’s get started.
NXT (available for free on hulu.com for those in the US)
+ Rusev should in no way be aligned with Lufort. It just doesn’t work. So thank god he attacked him like he did.
+ I think it’s safe to say that so far Aiden English is working as a character.
+ Paige vs. Summer Rae shows a bright future for the divas division.
- Well, this was certainly not a newsworthy episode.
Hell in a Cell
+ Mysterio being put in announce is a nice, fresh idea.
+ What an opener! Brotherhood and Shield and Usos are all teams I could watch for ages.
+ Axel is injured. Ambrose doesn’t have a match. PROBLEM SOLVED. (kudos to whoever got that reference)
- It’s great to see Natalya is being taken seriously still, even though Total Divas is on hiatus. This is sarcasm. Summer Rae vs. Natalya should not be ruined by Great Khali.
+ Big E vs. Ambrose exceeded my expectations.
- Wow, Heyman’s entrance was atrocious. Someone should be fired for that thing that got him up there not working.
+ Punk-RyBack was a good match to end the feud. Here’s hoping this is actually the end. I also want to give WWE kudos for the callbacks to last year’s HIAC RyBack-Punk match. RyBack wore the same ring gear for both, and they both ended with the face getting retribution over the cowardly heel on top of the cell – RyBack over Punk last year and Punk over Heyman this year.
+ 31 go-rounds for the Cesaro Swing. From the finish I’m guessing breaking up The Real Americans is a go.
? While I thoroughly enjoyed Cena vs. Del Rio, the finish felt really abrupt to me.
+ Brie is really improving. Well done.
- Orton-Bryan was far too overbooked for my taste.
? Did Cena come off as about 45% hillbillier than he really is? It felt like it, y’all.
? I really want to see where this Sandow thing is going to go from here. On one hand Sandow just lost to a one-armed Cena, on the other:
+ what a performance by both Cena and Sandow!
? Wow, I really hope the subtle strains of dissention between The Shield I’m seeing are a figment of my imagination. I think The Shield has A LOT left in them as a 3 men group – including an eventual face turn. That Double Spear was amazing.
+ Michaels is always great on the mic. He essentially expressed all the emotion both he and Bryan needed to express himself.
+ Wow, I really hope the subtle strains of dissention between 3MB I’m seeing are NOT a figment of my imagination. McIntyre looks a bit out of place there right now, and I think that’s on purpose. He is being made to look more successful than Slater and Mahal. Notice how much offense he got in, and eventually what led to him being pinned was the distraction of Slater being gassed.
- I fail to see how Kane’s sudden turn makes a lick of sense. So many changes in direction are going on. It could be argued this is The Wyatts’ effect on Kane, but he attacked them the previous night!
- Otunga looked horrible on the video on dot com! He looked downright ill!
? The Wyatts vs. Punk & Bryan? That’s an interesting direction to go in. “The devil made me do it” – could he be referring to Vince?
+ The Brotherhood is such a great team. They have yet to have a bad match together. Real Americans winning is a big change of pace, which appears to be a theme tonight.
+ I have no idea why people harped on Summer Rae’s work on RAW. It was really good, she gave a good bit of what she does on NXT. She was nervous, but it’s not like it made her work badly. Even nervous she was better than most. A bit of a mistiming and bad acting, but that’s because these are the two things most affected by stress before a big show. From experience.
- Why. Did. Big. Show. Have. Music?!
That’s all for this week, don’t forget to come back next week for a brand new Weekly Rundown.
