Hello and welcome back to yet another edition of the Weekly Rundown hosted by yours truly, Guy Landau. This is a weekly feature on WrestlingNewsWorld.com where I gloss over the important happenings in the WWE week as it pertains to the 2 major shows, in the form of bulletins for the positive happenings (under the “YES!” column, and prefaced with + signs), the negative happenings (under the “NO!” column, and prefaced with – signs), and the ones I could not decide what they were, but felt they were important enough to comment on (Under the “Maybe?” column, and prefaced with ? signs).
So without further ado, let’s get started.
+ I really like Cole’s new balanced heel persona. It’s actually becoming fun to listen to. I just wish he’d stick to it more, as the times when he did made him seem human and believable, as opposed to forced and annoying.
+ Free at last, free at last. Thank God, Ziggler and Swagger are free at last (from being squashed by the Funkasaurus.) And finally, they start winning matches again.
+ I like the Over the Limit WHC match being changed to a fatal 4 way, I don’t think the 1 on 1 match would’ve held my interest.
+ I like Orton going back to throwing dropkicks, as he used to be widely known for throwing the best dropkicks in the business.
+ This AJ storyline is REALLY good. And boy, is she playing it well.
+ How awesome is Ricardo Rodriguez, who, despite not being an active wrestlers is still involved in the best spots on a weekly basis?!
+ I am all for Cobro, even though they got beat. The tag division really seems to be in a good place right now, and Ryder does need something to do until he gets back in theUStitle hunt. A title which is held by his tag partner. Not implying anything, except that Cobro (SO much better than “Maryder”, by the way) could, down the line, implode with Ryder turning heel and taking theUStitle away from Santino.
+ Once again, I LOVE Damien Sandow. And, in true modern-day WWE spirit, let’s get this trending: #SandowMcIntyreTag.
Here’s the skinny – the two belong together in so many ways. Sandow should get a short singles run and then tag with McIntyre as far as I am concerned.
- The opening segment was a bit long, and Punk seemed to be a bit off all night for some reason. He spoke too fast and was very careless in how he phrased what he said.
-Rhodesis not coming out of the feud with Big Show looking strong at ALL.
- Tensai going over what appears to be the entire main event scene is starting to get ridiculous. He’s not Brock Lesnar.
- Why did we see the same tag match from RAW? They could’ve had the singles matches without the rehashed tag excuse for them.
- So WWE felt we were too stupid to realize the situation in the Teddy/Aksana storyline that they had to have her spell it out for us?
- The benefit of having a fatal 4 way is that you can safely have the participants go over one another clean. Why doesn’t WWE do it, then?
? While I didn’t like Miz losing to Clay, he did look strong in defeat, and it was impressive seeing him call the whole match.
? Paul Heyman’s return was made abundantly… unimpressive. He came out, as if “by the way”, and the announcers responded accordingly. Paul Heyman’s return should’ve been made a bigger deal, but on the flip side – he did return.
This is just a random note, but I’ve seen A LOT of people miss LayCool and wanting them back after seeing Layla return. Now, I’ve always liked LayCool – both were great wrestlers and played their gimmick well. However, I was always in the minority opinion on the matter. I’ve never (or barely ever) heard people say they like them. My question is (and as usual feel free to answer in the comments section), what do you think caused people to suddenly want LayCool back? Is it short memory, Closeted LayCool fans now feel it’s safe to come out without being scolded, Layla’s ring-work or something completely different?
Don’t forget to come back next weekend for a new edition of the Weekly Rundown!
