Hello and welcome to The Revamped Weekly Rundown, hosted by yours truly, Guy Landau. For those who do not know, this is a weekly feature on WrestlingNewsWorld.com where I gloss over the important happenings in the week in WWE as it pertains to the company’s present and future in RAW and NXT in the form of bulletins for the positive happenings (A.K.A “YES!”, prefaced with + signs), the negative happenings (A.K.A “NO!”, prefaced with – signs), and the ones I could not decide what they were, but felt they were important enough to comment on (prefaced with ? signs).
Now, without further ado, let’s get started.
? I don’t know what to think about the seeming divide of Punk’s fight against the authority from Bryan’s.
+ Big E was very amusing on commentary.
– Boy, #BadNewsBarrett’s transition to TV did not work.
– Bryan’s feud with the Wyatts is booking on the fly at its most obvious. First it was the devil making Bray do it, then Punk vs. Bryan, then Bryan was abducted and the Wyatts attempted to have him join them by doing god knows what to him after abducting him last week, now Bryan is back with no apparent difference to his behavior,
? I was waiting for a Kane-Bryan interaction, and that it came in regards to the Wyatts makes it perfect timing. However, I can’t help but feel underwhelmed by the segment.
– Lack of continuity strikes back: On what world does it make sense for Del Rio to ask for the deportation of someone else?
+ Congrats to Sin Cara on the unexpected win. And ink. And body. And in-ring skill. And being a different person altogether under the mask, and for the better I might add.
+ Shield. Rhodes. Great match as usual. Let’s save words here, there’s no reason to repeat myself as I have for the past how-many months.
+ The Cena/Orton recaps are very apropos, as there is a lot of history to cover there.
– Why would WWE be proud of O’Neil’s throwing up enough to recap it?! And this is becoming a storyline?!
? The contract signing was compelling, especially Cena’s portion of the promo, but I thought Cena came out looking too dominant in the breakdown. The whole point is for Cena and Orton to look equal, and that wasn’t achieved. Last week Orton got the upper hand via distraction. This week Cena won a fair fight, dominantly.
NXT (available for free on hulu.com for those in the US)
+ Fantastic match between Natalya and Paige. The only thing wrong with it was Paige’s finisher, but that’s always a problem – it just doesn’t look impactful.
+ Leo Kruger has a great mercenary quality to his work – he hunts you and he gets down to business to beat you. A hired gun gimmick could suit him perfectly.
+ The main event was solid, and the finish made a lot of sense from Bo Dallas’ perspective.
That’s all for this week, don’t forget to come back next week for a brand new Weekly Rundown.
