Why Austin Aries Is TNA Champ, Dolph Ziggler A Top Star, Undertaker & Retirement, Revamped WWE NXT

Do you believe TNA put the TNA Championship on Austin Aries as a show of confidence in him or to prevent him from leaving once his contract is up?

Austin Aries re-signed with TNA Wrestling in May despite interest from WWE and while one could assume his title reign was a reward based on loyalty, I'm under the impression it was a result of Hulk Hogan being high up on him. On Tuesday, I reported a backstage story about how a "friendly argument" between Hogan and Bruce Prichard ultimately ended with Aries as champion. You can read that story at this link. If Ric Flair does return to WWE, I think he would be the ideal person to take Dolph Zigger to the next level with a major title run. What do you think?

I am high up on Dolph Ziggler and feel he's ready for a shot as a top talent, however, I'm not sure I understand your argument about Ric Flair. Do you think he could serve as a manager for Ziggler? At any rate, we're getting ahead of ourselves as any hope Flair had of quickly defecting from TNA to WWE was killed with TNA's lawsuit. I could see a strong argument being made for Ziggler going over in the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank ladder match at the pay-per-view on Sunday.

When do you think that The Undertaker will retire?

Many speculated this year's match against Triple H at Wrestlemania XXVIII with The Undertaker going 20-0 would be his last, however, Undertaker felt great after the match and reportedly has more left in the tank. I've even heard there has been talk of him working before Wrestlemania XXIX next year. We'll see what happens but it wouldn't be wise to begin projecting Undertaker's retirement.

What are your thoughts on the revamped WWE NXT? Wrestlers like Seth Rollins and Richie Steamboat definitely have what it takes to be big stars, but I'm not sure NXT provides the right platform for them to get over.

The revamped version of WWE NXT seems to be win-win and I wish there was wider television clearance for the series in the United States. Not only does it give WWE developmental talents the opportunity to participate on a platform featuring upgraded production, the international TV deals allow them to make more money. You weren't specific in your criticism so I can only guess why you feel it doesn't provide talent like Seth Rollins and Richie Steamboat the right platform to get over but I disagree and think it provides a perfect "step-up" to main WWE programming.

They Also Have Been Blocking the New NXT on YouTube.com By Blocking it Worldwide so that its not views as a "Internet-Web-Based" Show

    • Bob

There's plenty of other places on the internet you can watch it apart from on Youtube. They're not necessarily 'legit' places, but they exist, and they mean you don't have to miss out on the new NXT just because WWE want to play silly beggars. Just saying.

      • Patrick Peralta

Bob is right I watch NXT and Superstars all the time online dispite WWE doing what it can to block from youtube which is funny since they now use youtube.

        • Logan_Walker

Yeh i Read it so they don't come off as a Web-Cast Show and more of a TV Show like RAW or Smackdown

  • Jashaun

I think Ziggler is ready to be a world champ. I think Ziggler has a lot of people behind him now. Its only a matter of time before he is in the main event picture.

  • Austin

I think it is imperative that Ziggler wins the Money in the Bank match because WWE is in desparate need of some new (and permanent) main event superstars, and he's definitely shown that he can work at the level of Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, John Cena, etc. If they put over someone else then I have no clue what their overall plans for Ziggler actually are.

  • Jashaun

I hope cena doesnt win at mitb. I really don’t want to see cena go on another title run. WWE should let Ziggler win it he deserves it.

    • Callum

Now we got a genius here there not even in the same match!

      • GrammarNazi

        Genius, it's they're, not there.

        • James M>>>

Genius, it’s its not it’s, get its right. Just kidding y’all.

  • graham hodis

I like ziggler and think he be champ soon. May be he win money in the bank?. Undertaker will probably retire next year after mania. Think he lose and pass the torch to someone. Not sure who though. Any ideas people?

    • James

Dolph Ziggler or Wade Barrett to end the streak!

    • outkazt09

He will not lose at WM.

    • Evon Reese

True. I love it when Cena is involved the first words are "I hate". If there wre no Cena there would be no WWE. Ziggler, Punk ,Bryan can not carry a PPV by themselves.

      • Billkmc

Wwwf/wwf/wwe was around long before cena was even born and it will be around long after he is gone. As important as some people think cena is he just another cog in the machine.

      • Austin

The reason Punk/Bryan/Ziggler can’t carry a ppv is because when they did/will get over, they take a backseat to Cena/Stupid booking. CM punk was MORE popular then Cena after winning the championship at MITB. So what do they do? Immediately take the title off him,and put him in a match with…….HHH? A match Punk wouldn’t even win. Eventually Punk got the title back but he and the title have been presented as an afterthought so Cena could work the main-events. Not to mention his promos are getting blander and more generic “I’m going to kick your ASS*cheap pop from the crowd because someone cursed*kinda promos. WWE has no stars. It worries me.

        • Evon Reese

Punk is just that a Punkand without Daniel Bryan he was sinking. When that got old they brought in AJ

  • Lenny

Austin Aries as the TNA world champ is a nice refreshing change. Don’t get me wrong, I see Bobby Roode is the greatest TNA champion ever, he’s been nothing short of phenomenal but if anybody was to take the title off of him, I’m glad it was Aries and not freaking Jeff Hardy or Kurt Angle or RVD. Plus I think TNA has been delivering some great wrestling ever since they went live and the open fight night concept is fun to watch. Which confuses me
About why the ratings are still low. Ppl need to open their eyes and see the improvement TNA is getting and give it a chance.

  • Autista

Seth Rollins is a lot like Cm Punk with his look. He looks like punk did 5 years ago. He’s pretty good in the ring as well, although a little green on the mic. He will make it though, I reckon anyway. DEATH TO ALL BUT METAL!!!

  • CrankyVince

How they have NXT right now is perfect for the talent and the fans! They just need a tv deal. I like that more Indy talents are getting signed too, hope they keep signing the Indy talents, some really talented wrestlers there.

  • Swanson

He has earned the right to retire undefeated.

  • Jamie

I love watching the undertaker, I just hope he doesn't ware out his body in the process.
