William Regal Wants A Shot At Daniel Bryan’s World Heavyweight Championship

William Regal, who trained Daniel Bryan, is now lobbying for a chance to be the first English World Champion in WWE. Some tweets he posted from his Twitter account are compiled below:

I still want to be the first English World Champion.I would like @WWEDanielBryan to grant me a title shot. @WWE pay attention.

It seems as though a lot of people think the same.One thing though,I don’t deserve a title shot,but I want one.

And for the divs who feel the need to bring up my past problems,I am what I am and don’t regret anything.It’s what makes me me.

I can also entertain like no one else.And I make all my own dresses.

Some people think I’m not up to it.People have been counting me out for years but I can still Wrestle as good as ANYONE in the world.

  I agree. Let him face win the title at the chamber and go on to defend it at Mania. That would be a damn good run for him. He is right he can entertain better then most Champs. Him and D Bry are a better feud then D Bry and big show.

It could work. Just have Regal question Bryan’s recent tactics, and then have Bryan run him down, setting up a feud. Heck, here’s an idea, have the Rumble winner be from RAW. The only guy from RAW with a chance of winning it is Chris Jericho, and he hasn’t even talked. At Elimination Chamber, the SD Chamber match would be for the number one contendership to the world title at Wrestlemania. So that bars Bryan being in the match, so what will he do? Defend the title against Regal at the event. Credible name to go over, keeps him hot heading to Wrestlemania, no harm, no foul. Most importantly, Henry and Show are away from the world title scene. No disrespect to them, but I personally had enough of those two guys. With Bryan as world champion, it’s best they fade away from the title scene after the Royal Rumble. Sure they might compete at EC, but no doubt they won’t win. That is unless they want to extend the Daniel Bryan/Big Show feud past Royal Rumble.

Regal can get a rematch during the European tour after Wrestlemania, win the title from Bryan, and hold it until the next PPV. Small run, career achievement award, shift back to Bryan. It seems to work to me. If there’s any reason not to give Regal the title is age and age alone. As he’s up there and age, and it could be considered “too late” to get the world title. However, nothing else wrong with him as he can still go in the ring, still talk, and a story of Regal’s life playing out on TV, would get fans behind him easily, thus he can get over. As evidenced by Superstars a few months ago, Regal and Bryan could really tear it up in a more methodical, technically impressive match.

  Totally agree! I suggested Regal vs Bryan at Elimination Chamber at some point too, I think it was in a Think Tank. I likened it to Miz vs Lawler last year, only with Regal being a more credible challenger than the King. Not only has he spent less time as a mostly inactive performer, but the fact that he's Bryan's mentor can write a potential benefit for him. Y'know, the whole "he taught Bryan everything he knows, but not everything Regal knows" adage.

Makes sense to ATLEAST have the match. Here’s the scenario. Have Y2J win the rumble, that way, the smackdown elimination chamber match will determine the number one contender at WM. Based on the current storylines on smackdown, the elimination chamber will feature Orton, Sheamus, Big Show, Henry, Barrett, and Rhodes. After the Royal Rumble, have regal come out on smackdown and make the same comments as he did on twitter. This will cause, a now full fledged heel, Daniel Bryan to come out and start the whole classic “I’m better than my trainer and achieved more in my short run than you ever had since you been here” angle. Make the match for the EC PPV as it will give Bryan a little, but very important and useful feud going into WM28 where he will face Sheamus, after he wins the smackdown EC match.

I've been wanting to see Regal get a shot at the World title for years from the time he was in WCW then later when he came to WWE. He deserves a title shot. Plus I've been wanting to see Bryan and Regal have a series of matches. more then just the match they had on Superstars a couple months ago.

I'd even like to see Regal mange Bryan right now during Bryan's Heel run.

As much as I love Jericho, I’d so mark out if Kane won the Royal Rumble instead… Just saying as Y2J isn’t the only RAW worker with any hope of winning.
