Wins & Losses, WWE Featuring TNA Stars, Jeff Jarrett, What’s Next For Daniel Bryan?, Zeb Colter

Do you really think a loss to The Undertaker after losses to The Rock and John Cena could seriously damage CM Punk’s career? After all, Jack Swagger lost match after match for months only to come back after a six-month absence and be pushed as championship material. Doesn’t this prove that wins and losses are fairly meaningless?

One thing at a time. Before we can conclude a statement such as “wins and losses are fairly meaningless,” let’s look at Jack Swagger. Do you think fans buy him as a main event talent? Many were outraged he went over at Elimination Chamber and have continued to criticize his push. We don’t know how WWE will book him at Wrestlemania (and beyond) but my point is the perception of Swagger was hurt by his losses despite his six-month absence. On the other hand, CM Punk has the ability to get over regardless if he loses. One could make an argument that Ryback got over while losing. So wins and losses aren’t everything in making fans care. The reason I have been so vocal in my argument about Punk ending the streak is I feel WWE has an extraordinary opportunity. Punk is in his prime and coming off a historic WWE title reign, he has the chance to go “one step further.” Making him “just another streak statistic,” benefits no one. Not Punk and not Undertaker. Some have mentioned that Punk might not work much longer. Even if Punk only works one more year (I fully expect him to work more), using him as the star that ended the streak would be much more effective than getting no payoff. I don’t see Punk ending the streak and look for Undertaker to go 21-0, however, I feel it will be a mistake.

Why does WWE feature talent under TNA contract (such as Sting, Kurt Angle and Tara) in the Alumni action of dot com?

WWE features TNA stars on dot com because it generates page views. When Jeff Hardy’s TNA contract was up last month, WWE used the hype surrounding his status to add his profile to their website. It’s a smart move for free promotion and keeps fans talking. It also doesn’t hurt that WWE owns so much footage of their careers they have the ability to sell DVDs about them.

What happened to Jeff Jarrett in TNA Wrestling and why doesn’t anyone ever mention him anymore?

The last I heard from Jeff Jarrett he was backstage at the 2/16 TNA Wrestling live event in Beckley, West Virginia with Karen. It’s known an ongoing power struggle took place behind-the-scenes between Team Jarrett (Jeff Jarrett and Vince Russo) and Team Hogan (Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff).  We all know who won, however, Jarrett still owns part of the company.

What’s next for Daniel Bryan? I thought he had a great run as WHC and the AJ/CM Punk angle. Though I have enjoyed Team Hell No at times I feel WWE have gone backwards with his character. What can we expect from Bryan in the future? Does WWE see him as a main event talent?

Everything I’ve heard about Daniel Bryan indicates that Vince McMahon is high up on him and sees him as one of the most versatile workers on the roster. I agree there have been streaks of brilliance with Team Hell No but now it’s time for something more serious. There has been a lot of talk about splitting Team Hell No and programming Bryan against Kane. It almost seems inevitable but creative plans are always changing. Bryan said recently he was “aching for the more serious stuff.”

Given his excellent history with IWA in Puerto Rico and with TNA, do you see WWE giving Dutch Mantell a job in creative after his run as Zeb Colter?

Vince McMahon is reportedly high up on the Zeb Colter character and many believe his future is brighter than the future of Jack Swagger. A lot of the great work with the TNA Knockouts several years ago was written by Dutch Mantel and I would be all for him taking control of the WWE Divas. However, I haven’t heard of anything putting Mantel in any other role as of this writing.

Zeb Colter has been excellent in his current role. I’m just disappointed that the WWE have gone away from the emigration angle as Colter on the mic was the best thing about this whole storyline.

  • Charlie Lowery

which “part of the company” does Jarrett own?

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

      I think it’s around 25%

      • mik

He actually only owns 10% but is still vp of the company

  • Kyle

The whole Del Rio vs. Swagger storyline would be horrible without Zeb Colter. The guy is great on the mic(way better than Swagger) and has made this storyline personal and fun to watch. I hope he stays around for awhile.

    • Xavier

This storyline would of been 1000x better if that had used Zeb Colter in 2004 during the Guerrero/Lesnar feud.

  • H.M.

Lol Colter is carrying the WHC feud on his back. Those two show little chemistry but the new ‘immigrant’ dynamic is making the feud somewhat enjoyable, albeit a bit stagnant lately. Without him in the picture I couldn’t care less.

richard, it does benefit someone… vince and all his taker fans… most importantly vince, and as long as it benefits vince nothing else matters. If this isn’t takers last match then he ain’t losing cause what’s the point of taker at wrestlemania he has been defeated. you can’t sell wrestlemania these days without the streak(unless u bring in the rock and brock), you can’t sell taker without the streak anymore. taker loses and so does vince and million of dollars. Cm punk is just another potential face in case something happens to cena cause no matter what punk do, he ain’t taking cena’s spot and that’s the sad truth. Punk needs another character switch.

I was watching cm punks promo with mick foley last year as foley told punk he only held the title for less than a month for the total of 3 reigns. He told punk he needed something to make him legend basically. It was all for punk to take on cena but I think this is what foley was really talking about and this is Richards argument! This is an extreme opportunity to make cm punk probably the biggest heel ever in the wwe as the man who ended the streak! Fans would absolutely hate him as many already hate the talk of it. But that would mean wwe and punk did their job as that is what a heel is!
