Numerous financial websites noted that WWE’s stock closed strong on Wednesday on speculation the company will announce a new domestic television agreement at the NBCUniversal Cable’s Upfront in New York City on Thursday.
We cannot confirm a new deal will be announced, however, there are things of note. First, The Bella Twins are confirmed to appear on behalf of Total Divas on E.
We reported earlier in the week that Thursday would be an opportunity for WWE to announce their new domestic TV agreement with NBCU.
Vince McMahon said in a conference call with investors earlier in the month they would be announcing their new domestic TV licensing deal in the next “several weeks.” However, at the time, WWE refused to discuss specifics.
While WWE had expected many suitors to bid on their programming, the overwhelming belief within the industry is that they will re-sign with NBCU, barring something unseen. WWE’s goal in their new domestic TV agreement will be to significantly increase what they make in TV licensing fees.
