WWE: Beth Phoenix Suffered A Severe Sprain To Her Left Ankle

The official WWE website has an injury update on Beth Phoenix, who appeared to suffer an injury in her lumberjill match against Nikki Bella on this week’s Raw SuperShow. The injury was described as a “severe sprain to her left ankle.” In the following excerpt, WWE Doctor Michael Sampson explains the injury:

“It looks like she affected her anterior talofibular ligament, which is the most common injured ankle ligament on an inversion injury,” Sampson told WWE.com.“She has some swelling, [and] she’s having a hard time walking or ambulating on it. We’re going to need an MRI just to make sure there’s nothing else going on and see how we can treat it – if we need surgery or if we can do it conservatively.”

Not near as bad as I thought. Having been through many ankle injuries myself, it almost looked like she may have done some damage to her achilles tendon.

    I smell storyline.

This is too perfect. It gets the title off of Beth without making her look bad… and it sets up the final storyline for the Bellas before they leave the WWE when their contracts expire.

And when Kharma left the WWE during her pregnancy, what did she say her new dream was? That the Bellas were still in WWE when she returned. And what a perfect return and nice full-circle to the storyline, if Kharma returned and took the Diva's Championship from Nikki Bella, thus ending the Bellas run in the WWE?

And, if she is really injured… hope she recovers ASAP. Beth is an awesome talent!

      Agreed

    • Frankii

I agree this also sets up for Beth to heal come back and face kharma for the title

I thought she was going to return last night

I didn't watch RAW but from the sounds of the report it is to perfect. and your right Kharma did say her new dream was hopeing the Bella's were still in WWE when she returned. So I will not be suprised to hear Kharma returns next week on RAW.

My only question is: Is this legit? or wwe playing a storyline card?

  • BIGRAN77741

The camera man was on point during the match all between they legs.

Are people serious? This is a work!

  • King

I was there and it looked bad. As soon as she leaped from the apron she got injured. She couldn’t even stand on it afterwards, I wonder is that why she dropped the title.

  • jdl

It seemed a little too convenient and I didn't see any X signs thrown up. It's a work, has to be.

  • Laterial

That injury seemed legit. Of course the show must go on. They knew a Beth win would seem less legit when she could barely stand, and she won’t be able to defend the title. The above proposed storyline with Kharma sounds good as well.

    It's a work

  • Assassin

You idiots it was a real injury. Obviously you never had an ankle injury so you wouldn’t know. She was hurting and could barely stand.

    • An0n

      its a work mate, sorry

    • Jas

Care to retract that statement? I don't like being called an idiot. Especially when I'm right and you're wrong. :)

I think the ref dropped the ball and didn’t throw the x sign up.

  • JakShowtime

I did that a week before Christmas and it's still bothering me…

…of course, I don't have world-class trainers to work with and still went about my daily business, so that probably didn't help.

The fact that she was wearing boots with good support probably saved it from being even worse, thankfully.

  • JasonGaza

Karma will put bellas out of the wwe and take the title

  • Jamir

The Bella Twins SUCKS. Im glad Layla beat Nikki.
