WWE Championship Match Set For Hell In A Cell

CM Punk will defend the WWE Championship against Ryback in a Hell in a Cell match at the pay-per-view in two weeks.

Ryback was added to the feud as a contingency plan in case John Cena wouldn't be able to go due to his surgically-repaired elbow. The company literally used Cena to get Ryback over and it certainly appears they had to go with "plan B."

WWE Hell in a Cell will take place Sunday, October 28, 2012 Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. We’ll have exclusive live play-by-play coverage here at WrestlingNewsWorld.com.

I'm curious to see how they will execute this at Hell in a Cell. Do they want to end Ryback's streak? Do they remove the title from Punk? Do him and Ryback trade wins until the Rumble? Will Cen be added to the mix or the possible outcome of the match at Hell in a Cell? Very intriguing move done by the WWE. Props to them.

    • J-Dub

No way this will end clean. Brock will probably interfere setting up a Ryback Lesnar feud. That will probably go to survivor series match. Team Heyman vs. Team CenaRyback!

      • craig

In a no DQ match anything is clean. A chair is as legal as a wrist lock.

  • kevin

Plan b is better the plan a can’t wait to see c.m. punk get out of this one.

    • HOGAN

Nah, the match will more then likely suck. Punk is overrated as an in ring performer & Ryback is as green as a blade of grass

  • Code

I really hope WWE doesn't end up regretting this

  • snuggle

I think going with Ryback is awesome and refreshing. Everybody hates on Cena all of the time, but complain when Wwe pushes Ryback. I’m a fan I personally wish that Ryback wins the Wwe title at Hell in a Cell. I think that the guy has stepped up more then anybody else that has been pushes in the last two years. Ryback is on both Punks and Cena’s level and if the match is booked correctly Ryback could be on the moon for the rest of his career. All I have left to say are three words FEED ME MORE!

    • phil

Sorry to bust your bubble but albeit somewhat refreshing the match still would BOMB…he cant wrestle & its gonna be obvious run ins..why do u think its not a regular match with ryback…this is so eerily reminiscent of how goldberg was handled its not even funny. Ryback hasnt done enough yet to earn the spot. He has to distance from the goldberg stigma

  • Donny

Not order this ppv now, I’m still not sold on ryback at all

  • Mike

CAN'T WAIT! I know Richard must be disgusted LOL

  • Bault16

    This is bad

  • Pluto

This match is gonna be pretty bad, Punk isnt good at calling or carrying matches, Punk needs too be in the ring with guys that are better then him so they can carry him like (Jericho, Mysterio, Cena, ,Bryan, Taker) When Punk is in the ring with guys not as talented as him (Miz, ADR, Henry, Kane, Sheamus) his matches tend too suck. I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling this match will be a train reck like the HHH/Steiner matches we got back in 03.

    • Bault16

      Listen to yourself.

    • Robert olley

Pink can carry matches not as well as michaels,Jericho or Bryan but still just aswell as most if not better.

    • AceV

      U are so wrong…

    • HOGAN

    • Evon Reese

@Pluto you are correct. With Punk being main event this is not worth buying.

  • Andrew Ace

    Wonder what creative thinks up

  • gibbons08

I smell a Brock Lesnar run in!

  • ThisGuy

Either Lesnar is coming back to face Ryback or Ryback is turning heel by aligning himself with Punk and Heyman

    • leonard

totally agree with you with aligning with punk, I think and hope stables are coming back to wwe , just like they did back in the good old days, new story lines, more use of newer wrestlers, and something to fill up the 3 hours Raw.

  • -|AZ|-

Another medal to Super Cena. First he got Ryder over for US ch'ship by 'sacrificing' a possible WWE title shot and now this.

Respect the man, respect the character m/

    • Joey

If that is the case, then we can expect to see Kane pushing Ryback off the stage in a wheelchair in a couple weeks. Hahaha just kidding. I respect John Cena more and more every day.

  • Jehricoholic

Anyone else smell a dq win for punk to retain and for the streak to continue? It’s so painfully obvious it has to be what wee creative try’s to sell.

    • Snaps

If it is a Hell in a Cell match, which the pay per view would imply, there is no DQ.

It will likely end in a run-in, resulting in Punk retaining and Ryback not losing cleanly.

  • Brian

I agree with Gibson. Lesnar interferes, Ryback wins by DQ… Perfect setup for Lesnar vs Ryback at SSeries & yes, I hate to say it. Vena vs Punk for the title at SS… I, myself, would also like to see the rock as a special guest at SS, only to be interrupted by Undertaker! Setup, taker vs rock at WM. THAT…Would be electrifying !!

    • Chris

How do u end an Hell In A Cell match with a dq?

  • Voice_of_Wrestling

I hope he eats Paul heyman, Feed me more!

    • The Champ

NOONE has a stomach that big!

  • DJ

This seems bad. I can definitely see Lesnar coming in for the save, then Ryback vs. Lesnar at Survivor Series…

  • Spike westphal

At lest cena is not in the main event this for the first time this year makes a interesting main event do the put the title on ryback and keep him undefeated or do they continue punk 330 something day title regin

  • sam

I think personally Ryback should win the match… destroy Punk…. then this may prompt Lesnar to return to face Ryback.

  • Frenchfry

yeah theyre gonna get to the main event of the ppv and just not have the match because it turns out theyre on the same side, makes sense

  • PainOfDemise

I'm glad Ryback will finally get to have a REAL match and not some 5 minute one. I never got to see him wrestle and what he could before he was Ryback, so I'll be very interestedi n this match. I'm pretty sure this match will get him over even more since I know how good Punk is and he will just make Ryback that much better.

  • Nick

To keep CM Punk as WWE champion and to maintain the undefeated record of Ryback, WWE’s only solution is to end the match in a no contest. Meaning Both men create a really nasty spot where neither can continue or have punk coward his way out by somehow escaping the cage and leaving the cell, since there are no count outs in the match. Then have punk run to a car and speed his way out of the arena. That’s what I would would do if I was booking this.

  • Patrick_OToole

I would book it with Cena being the one doing the interfering. It is too predictable to have Lesnar/Heyman interfere, so you have Punk start to really get the upper hand in the match, chair shots, table spots, insane cage work, maybe a little color. He gets heat from this since he is doing it to a pretty over face right now. He keeps yelling at Ryback about how it isn't his time, he isn't respected enough, blah blah blah. Cena comes out to stop the beating, interfering but since Punk has mega heat it just puts Cena over more and thus getting the match thrown out. Punk is still champ, Ryback is still undefeated.

Going forward you have Punk beating on Cena going into SS. Cena gets a bodyguard type with Ryback, Punk gets his own bodyguard with Lesnar, you also have Ziggler, Otunga and any other squash victim to join Heyman's team and you are set for SS.

  • craig

this is why the gimmick shouldnt be in certain months of the year. hell in a cell shouldnt be used for the first match between these two (and especially not for show-sheamus). save hell in a cell for survivor series (punk-ryback rematch or the december ppv punk-cena)

  • Doc

I have to wonder if they’re going to find a way to make it non-title. After all, why would Cena throw in the line about wondering if Ryback even cares about the title. I know they signed a contract for a title match but obviously they could find a way to change that part of the story if they wanted.

    • WWELDN

      shut up Doc!

  • izblack

MY PREDICTION: Ryback gets the HUGE UPSET win over Punk and wins the title only for Zigglar too cash in his MITB briefcase and walk out Hell In A Cell as champion. That would be the ultimate swerve and I for one hope it goes down that way. Not only that but it sets up a new feud with Zigglar vs Ryback and we get fresh blood at the top of the card.

    • ThisGuy

That’d be nice and all. But Ziggler’s won the Smackdown MITB…meaning he can ONLY challenge for the World Heavyweight Title. Not the WWE title. Cena had that privilege before he lost it at RAW 1000.

  • This match is gonna be pretty bad, Punk isnt good at calling or carrying matches.
