WWE.com's Major Announcement Revealed - Raw & Smackdown To Get Extreme Makeovers

- Below is WWE.com's "major announcement" that was promoted on last night's Raw Supershow:

Both Raw and SmackDown are about to get extreme makeovers. In an effort to help determine which General Manager should control both shows, the WWE Board of Directors has decided to switch control of each show next week. SmackDown GM Theodore Long will take control of Monday night’s Raw while Raw GM John Laurinaitis takes the reins of next Friday’s SmackDown.

The decision comes one week after Laurinaitis announced at Elimination Chamber that he will seek control over both shows, bolstered by flattering testimonials by Superstars Mark Henry, Christian and Alberto Del Rio. A perturbed Long made it clear to Laurinaitis that he’s not about to take the threat to his position lying down.

Last week on SmackDown, the two got into a heated argument as they tried to overrule one another during a match between WWE Champion CM Punk vs. World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. Last night on Raw SuperShow, the two were at it again as tensions continued to escalate. What will the GMs have in store for their respective rival as they switch roles? And how will each try to outshine the other? Tune into both Raw and SmackDown to see the lengths they’ll go to impress the Board of Directors – and get back at each other.

This move has great tv potential if not screwed up and can lead to pretty good build up.

  • Wwe4L76

    Yeah………. …… …….

  • K o W Kings Forever

  • Patrick_Peralta

I knew it I knew they would switch the GM's around. it was so clear since this feud begain.

  • Owen

The Brand Extension just needs to end, period, end of sentence.

    • Patrick_Peralta

I agree 100%. it should have ended the day it started.

    • Matt Scott

Someone wanna explain why Owen got voted down but Patrick got voted up?

      • Tex

They didn't Owen is minus 14 while Patrick is minus 13. You have to read it " Correctly " before you comment. He was talking about switching GM's

    • Rob

Without the brand extension, Edge, Chris Benoit, CM Punk, Sheamus, Miz, Daniel Bryan, Mark Henry, Alberto Del Rio, Christian, Eddie Guerrero and Rey Misterio would not all have been a HW champion. Maybe half would have. Imagine the last 5 years with only Cena, Orton, and maybe 2 of those men holding titles. That sounds like a bleak perspective.

      • H.M.

Hell, if not for the brand extension who knows where even Cena would be lol. Remember, his original show was Smackdown, the show that has been known to get the lesser talent in order to mould, and shape them into main eventers.

    • tex

If they ended the Brand Extension, half or most of the wrestlers would never get on TV.

  • Wwe4L76

Raw and SD should be separat! Not have superstarts from both shows ON both shows :S

    • WWE NERD

Well they shouldn't do it to Raw,because that brand is getting worse every week they do that, but they should of course do that to SmackDown, because their is only a little bit of great wrestlers on that show, their should be more people on SmackDown like Rey Mysterio,CM Punk,Chris Jericho,John Cena,Kane,Triple H,Kane,Shawn Micheals, people like those amazing wrestlers. If the WWE does that, trust me the SmackDown brand would be even with the Raw brand, meaning both brands are the same good.

  • craig

MITB would be better than a tag match of teams picked by the gm's at mania (which is where this has to be going)

    • Wes

I Agee each gm picks 3 superstars from ant roster, which ever team gets contract hanging above ring that gm takes over full control

  • mathew30

everybody sayign the extension must finish, but you must understand, without both shows, the wrestlers will have limited time on screen and limited time in the ring, with limited storylines.

  • Paul

Its a 4 hour show. They have time to do both without any problem.

  • Silver

Watch, it will be Santino vs. Otunga at Wrestlemania representing their respective GMs to determine who has total control.

  • Nighthawk

Shades of tna’s ‘Major Announcements’ – worst.

  • T-boy

I like smackdown more than raw.

  • Cam

When I saw the title of the article I thought they were getting new stages again how disappointing

    • WyFo

      Same here

  • kristen

I’m going to smack down next week now I have to listen to laurenitis

    • Mukeel

      Haha that sucks

  • Super Stinky Feet

  • Geezer

I actually think the brand extension is good. Otherwise the cream at the top would appear twice a week and the mid/low carders and heat seeekers would only appear to job. As it is I think it is borderline bad. Just seeing guys like Reks/Hawkins get mic-time/wins on NXT lately has been something interesting an different. They need avenues to prove themselves and go up the tree, and with no brand extension that wouldn't happen.

  • Russell

    Teddy long holla

  • Richard M

Laurinitis vrs teddy at wrestlemania 28 to determine control over both shows, this would put the cherry on the bun 🙂

  • Doc

If talent is good enough and determined enough, it will make its way to the top in most cases. Ryder wasn’t being featured at all but he forced the WWE to push him. If Orton or Cens or whomever wouldn’t have been pushed to the top without a brand split then I don’t believe they should be there anyway. I’d rather watch the best of the best.

Besides, it’s not like they can’t run two separate house show circuits and rosters. In the 80’s they would have Savage headline one run and Hogan headline the other and they’d tour at the same time.

  • Chris

If the brand extension ends there will be no room for many superstars? Really? Like the Attitude Era famously had no time or space for everybody from Jericho to Too Cool, Steve Blackman and Kaientai?
