WWE Did JR Wrong, The Face Of TNA, Lack Of Logic With Goldust, Strong Man Faction

I just read where Jim Ross said in an interview if he had any regrets in his career, it would be to call the Undertaker's final match, whenever that might be. With that said, do you feel that WWE and/or Undertaker himself would call on JR to call that match?

I see nothing in WWE's treatment of Jim Ross that would allow for him to come back to call Undertaker's final match, whenever that might be. I am in complete disagreement with the way JR was treated and forced into retirement. If it truly was the 2KSports panel that got JR pushed out, that's ridiculous. I spoke with people in attendance that told me it was a hoot and one of the most entertaining things they've seen. This is a typical WWE overreaction and an injustice to the best play-by-play man of all time. It doesn't surprise me but it's truly a shame.

What do you think about TNA letting Hulk Hogan walk and investing the money spent on him in some other talent such as AJ Styles?

I think Dixie Carter views Hulk Hogan as an integral piece of what they are trying to accomplish. Carter, and the powers that be in TNA, see Hogan as the "face of company" and want to build and market around him. Hogan is the most recognizable name in the history of pro wrestling and our own version of Michael Jordan but I personally do not feel he has been worth the heavy investment.

I loved the attack by Cody and Dustin Rhodes on this past Raw. However, it is really bothering me that Dustin was out there in his Goldust paint. After last week's treatment of Dusty, I wanted it to feel like this was very serious, but the face paint took a lot away from the attack. If he continues as Goldust and not as Dustin, the story will not feel as real. What are your thoughts?

The Goldust face paint was goofy and took away from the realism of the angle, you're right on the money. So we are supposed to believe in the midst of all the anger and frustration that Dustin took the time to do his Goldust face paint prior to "showing up" in the crowd at Raw? Vince probably thought it was the only way fans would recognize him but I saw it as counter intuitive. The biggest problem I have with the McMahon angle is Triple H and Stephanie McMahon appear unstoppable. Even if Daniel Bryan "wins" at Battleground, what stops them from "reversing the decision"? There has been too much booking on the fly and not enough thorough planning in this program.

Why not put Ezekiel Jackson and Mason Ryan with Mark Henry and form the World's Strongest stable?

Let's put aside for a minute that Ezekiel Jackson is currently rehabbing an injury and ask a very serious question. Does WWE really need another three-man faction? I think most will agree it's complicated enough with what they have currently and another would be over saturation. The idea looks good on paper but doesn't really fit in with the current landscape.

    Regarding Goldust.

It’s his warpaint. It’s what hundreds of thousands of people have done in the past throughout history.

  • Nostaljack

Mason Ryan? Batista, Jr. didn’t do a thing for me when he showed up on TV the first time. Ezekiel Jackson’s been gone so long that I actually forgot he was still employed with the company (is he planning on coming back this decade?). Mark Henry doesn’t need to be in a stable. 3MB is the only 3-man stable we need to endure.

    • Guy Landau

3MB of all of them? Not the Wyatts, not The Shield?

      • Nostaljack

They’d never be the Wyatt Family or The Shield. Should have said “jobber stable”. Batista, Jr. and Ezekiel Jackson would both have to be majorly repackaged.

        • PFA56

Swagger and Cesaro have been jobbing alot in recent months wouldnt you say they are now a “jobber” stable that we have to endure.

  • Rambo Commander

The Undertaker has that much pull that if he wants it, the WWE WILL bring back JR to call his final match.

    • the arbiter

Agreed, and when did retirement in this business ever mean that you never work again?

Mene Gene and the Fink still pop up from time to time. Can’t see why JR calling the odd match is any different.

  • Nostaljack

Oh yeah, and I totally agree with Richard about Hogan. He has contributed *nothing* to TNA. The ratings haven’t improved. Heck, nothing has improved. The only thing he’s done is make TNA bleed money.

    • JJ

And destroyed many aspects that made it special/different from WWE, eventually bringing some back, but also costing some key wrestlers jobs. So much money is better invested if Hogan never shows up in TNA.

  • Jbreed

Making Goldust appear without the face paint would be kind of like breaking kayfabe. I’m sure it’s something the WWE doesn’t wanna ever do.

    • Snap

But how would that be any different to having Dusty Rhodes actually SAYING he wasn’t there as the American Dream but as Virgil Runnels? Kayfabe’s already been demolished with the angle.

  • Xavier

I agree, if Dusty would of should up without the face paint it would of added more realism to the angle. Despite that though the angle was still done extremely well, and to be completely honest here I’m a lot more interested in this Rhodes/McMahon angle then I am anything Bryan/Orton are doing at the moment. I’m sure Bryan/Orton will deliver in spades at Battle Ground though.

It doesn’t really make much sense to put Henry in a stable with two guys that are in the lower midcard. I couldn’t even possibly imagine where creative could go with that to even make that remotely interesting. Besides, we already have The Shield, The Wyatt Family & 3MB around. Besides, Henry’s character comes off as a badass lone wolf (face or heel) who doesn’t need back up.

People need to stop with the “it’s all Hogan’s fault that TNA sucks” BS. The truth is that TNA was well on it’s way down hill long before Hogan & Bischoff came aboard. When a promotion puts everybody over everybody what ends up happening is that no one gets over and no real stars are created, creative has failed to create a pecking order among the talent. There are no real main event scene, midcard scene, lowercard scene in TNA. Booking has always been all over the place in TNA for years. It really doesn’t matter who TNA invest in at this point, they’re done.

Hopefully Vince would be mature enough to set his ego side for a sec and bring in JR for Taker’s last match. I guess at the end of the day it all comes down to what Taker wants. He has that kind of stroke and that kind of influence.

    • Tim

Yea the worlds strongest stable. Could work later on. But doesn’t need to happen now. It’s bad that the Wyatt’s are already not doing anything

  • Kris Mystery

I suspect JR was being paid a boat load of money for little work… and i’m also guessing WWE was offering him less than he was getting to jive with what they were getting back from him. JR probably refused and they parted ways. It really could be as simple as that.

  • Charlie

I kind of get the facepaint because when Dustin appeared on Smackdown a couple years ago to confront Cody no one knew who he was. I was in attendance and the crowd was silent.

  • BIG M

I know people keep going on and on about this but Drew Mcintyre is being wasted in 3MB.
I know I know I’ve said this a hundred times before but it doesn’t make it any less true in 2010 Drew was MAIN EVENT BOUND now he’s jobbing every week all because of WWE’s disapproving attitude towards his personal life.
And yet guys like Swagger and Ziggler have stuffed up every push they’ve ever been given and keep receiving more chances to prove themselves and never do.
As for Ezekiel Jackson I think that ship has LOOOOONG sailed but I think Mason Ryan still has a shot.
Ive heard rumors of Sheamus turning Heel when he returns because of how boring and stereotypical the last few months of his face run was how about putting him with Drew and Mason to form an all Celtic Heel stable and have We The People “job” for everyone for a while they’ve been doing that in recent weeks anyway.
As for Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal does anyone actually care if they got “Future Endeverd” because I honestly think they’ve got nothing going for them in the ring or on the mic.

  • Kevin

Agreed, WWE does this way too often. Ex. Daniel Bryan/Justin Roberts 2010. JR hopefully will be back…

  • Hercules Rockerfeller

The world’s stronger stable??? Lol that’s even worse than if there were three guys called 3 Men Band…jeez the questions that are answered here sometimes boggles my mind! Lol World Strongest Stable…LMAO!

    • the arbiter

      I have to agree
I think there is more potential in Big E vs Mark Henry. The old silverback defending his mantle of the world strongest man vs a new generation of strongman. If Mark is ever close to calling it a day and they want to put BIg E over, that would be potential programme.

  • Tim

Vince is probably just mad and Butt hurt that he didn’t create something that people found entertaining.

  • David F.

I think Big E should be facing CM Punk instead of Ryback. We know Ryback is boring and bland character. He had his chance and blew it. Big E v Punk would be more intriguing to me then Punk v Ryback 2

  • LeftyTosser

The overall thought behind Dustin coming out as GD was pretty good. It would have made complete sense if he came out with the face paint, but without the silk jump suit and dressed in street clothes. That would make sure of the identity issue, while also seeming more spur of the moment for the attack.
I know this won’t be very popular, but I personally would love to see JR in TNA. I think he incredible eye for talent, recognition and mic work would bring a completely new element to the show and could help right the ship with his influence back stage.
With Taker’s stroke, he could get anyone he wants to call his last match. No question VKM would accept his desire to bring JR in for a one shot deal.
The world’s strongest stable may well be a great idea for 3 strong men types, but certainly not this group.

  • Jay El Bee

It may have been 2KSports panel but the WWE name was also attached to it. So if McMahon doesn’t think that JR & Flair represented his company very well then he has every right to get rid of them.

  • Charles

Michael Jordan seems to be the face of the Charlotte Bobcats.
Having a retired guy in his 50’s and well past his heyday as your top
draw isn’t really working for them or TNA.
Dixie and Jordan should focus on top players not names.

  • K!NG

Really things need to be logical in pro wrestling ? How is it logical that Kane make fire shoot up from the ring post? How is it logical Rey mysterio can beat every big man in wwe? How is anything i see on a week to week basis logical. Its not and thats what makes it entertaining.
