WWE Extreme Rules Results (5/4/14) – New IC Champion, Wyatt Beats Cena, Daniel Bryan Retains

Cole sends it over to the expert panel, consisting of Booker T, Sheamus, and Alex Riley. Booker T says he never expected to see something like that. Riley says he’s got no words, and Sheamus says he should say he’s stunned, but after seeing Wyatt over the past couple of months, he’s not shocked. Matthews asked what stood out so far. Riley says The Shield vs. Evolution, and calls out Rollins as the MVP for the dive from the stands. Booker calls out the same, and Cesaro’s performance earlier. Sheamus calls out Barrett’s performance earlier, winning the Intercontinental title.

We get a quick recap of the WeeLC match that happened on the pre-show, which was really just an excuse for the announcers to cram as many short-jokes into five minutes as possible.

Tamina Snuka is out to the ring for the next match, getting no reaction from the fans on her way to the ring.

Paige is out to the ring next, for her first PPV appearance ever.

WWE Divas Championship Match
Paige vs. Tamina Snuka

The bell rings and we get a quick lock up. Tamina shoves Paige off. Paige head butts Tamina in the midsection, and charges in with a series of strikes and boots in the corner. Paige sucks a clothesline and dodges shots from Tamina, tripping her up and hitting a single leg dropkick. Tamina sends Paige into the corner, and runs into a big boot. Paige is able to roll up Tamina with a victory roll for two. Paige avoids a charging Tamina and lays in with knees into Tamina’s face. Paige goes to the top, but Tamina catches her with a kick to knock her to the arena floor.

Tamina throws her jacket at Paige and backs her into the ring apron hard. Tamina covers Paige for two, then knees her in the side of the head. Tamina sends Paige into the corner hard. Tamina picks Paige up and slams her to the mat for two.

Tamina slams Paige down again, and does it a third time for another near fall. Paige catches Tamina with a kick to the gut, then charges, knocking her through the ropes and out of the ring. Paige heads to the apron and kicks Tamina away. She goes for a hurricanrana, but Tamina catches her and slams her head first into the barricade. Tamina brings things back into the ring, shouldering Paige and climbing the ropes. Paige counters, dropping to the mat for a sunset powerbomb for two.

Paige hits a headscissors to Tamina while she’s on her knees, and that’s good for a near fall of her own. Paige ducks a clothesline, but is caught when she tries a cross body. Tamina slams Paige to the mat hard, but it’s still not enough to keep Paige down. Tamina tries for a superkick, but Paige counters, twisting Tamina up in the modified scorpion crosslock, and Tamina is forced to tap out.

Winner and STILL WWE Divas Champion: Paige

The lights go out, and the Wyatt’s are shown in the back. Wyatt tells ‘little Johnny’ that he did a great job. Everything John Cena stood for is trapped in a tiny little box. He’s vanquished, and the lonely souls that have nowhere to go will end up with him. Wyatt asks what everyone will end up doing. Little Johnny says, ‘follow the buzzards’.

  • Paul Kelly

the little man puns where a little too much

  • Navin T. Ramkissoon

Isn’t this supposed to be an elimination match or was that changed?

  • Navin T. Ramkissoon

Did the announcers not know that it was an Elimination Match

  • Tim

Seeing rvds weird pin attempt. I miss seeing the crucifix pin. Anyone else?

  • Gio

    • Gio

Not surprised about what she said, butnow WWE just dropped the ball, why make him Russian

  • Tom Mayer

Are most ppl in the premium chat? Ppv chat seems very dead

    • Gio

I am also surprised, this chat is very dead

      • Tom Mayer

I guess I fail to see the reason to pay for the privilege to talk to the community, it is a business model Richard should def reconsider, especially with the advent of the network.

      • kingdook24

        There’s a difference in chats?

        • Gio

          I don’t think so, but I what do I know, I don’t have premium

  • kingdook24

I guess Big E’s push is officially over.

  • kingdook24

Why do I get the feeling Extreme Rules seems to be built around Shield/Evolution over Daniel Bryan & the WWE WHC? Not that there’s anything good or bad about it…

    Just saying.

    • Tom Mayer

I think it is because Bryan hasn’t been there, wedding and then his fathers passing and all

      • kingdook24

I’m quite shocked Shield/Evo is the 4th match on the card. Paige/Tamina, Cena/Bray & DB/Kane are left. This is moving pretty quick.

  • BlackLotus

looking at the card on the left of the page we are half way through it.

  • kingdook24

    Believe in the Shield…

  • AJ Harte

Does anyone agree with my idea of John Cena restarting the nWo? Then he could be a “likeable heel” instead of a “hateable face”. Fans would get the heel turn they’ve wanted for so long and it would surprisingly bring back a very popular storyline from the recent past. If done right, maybe be a great move. Would love to hear opinions.

    • kingdook24

I’d be up for a heel turn for Cena – I have been for a while. But the fact is Cena sells so much merchandise, does the Make-A-Wish appearances, etc. – he does so much as a face that benefit the company as a whole that they don’t want to turn him face.

But there are many marketable heels in my opinion – HHH, Orton, Lesnar, Bray Wyatt, etc. But I don’t agree with Cena restarting the nWo. The nWo has been done so many times now. If anything, have Cena start his own NEW faction. Honestly, I would love the see Cena join the Wyatt Family… but that’s been done with Bryan already, and still pretty fresh.

  • kingdook24

“You Can’t Wrestle” & “Boo-Tista” chants for Batista. Fans will never forgive Batista or booking for the Royal Rumble.

  • kingdook24

    Dean Ambrose is insane.
    Seth Rollins is energetic.
    Roman Reigns is a beast.

Push these guys to the moon!!!

  • kingdook24

OH MY GOD!!! SETH ROLLINS!!!! THAT WAS ECW AT ITS BEST!!!

  • Gio

How many match of the year will the Shield have? Great Match!

  • kingdook24

That match just single-handedly made up for Batista eliminating Reigns in the Royal Rumble. Best match of the night so far.

  • kingdook24

    Cena/Bray Wyatt time.

I understand Wyatt ‘has’ to win this time, but me being a Cena guy at heart – I will be cheering for him to win. But I understand that Wyatt has to win this more than Cena does. Wyatt can’t afford to look weak in this match, otherwise this entire build for Bray has been for nothing. I mean, they’ve even put the fans booing Cena into the storyline. I expect a MAJOR swerve in this match.

    Something has to happen… Something.

  • kingdook24

I don’t wanna fully commit to it yet, but I’d say it’s pretty darn close that…

Bray Wyatt may be this generation’s Undertaker.

    Not yet, but very close.

  • kingdook24

I really feel bad for Cena. Cena hasn’t done anything to deserve the type of reaction he gets from certain fans. I feel that certain fans just boo him for the sake of booing him because he’s been getting booed for so long. If the fans should be booing anyone, it’s booking & management for keeping him face for this long. Every superstar needs a change every now & then.

HHH flips face/heel all the time. Orton has done it. Batista has. Daniel Bryan has. Lesnar. Punk. Undertaker. Kane. Foley. Flair. The Rock. Austin. Bret Hart. HBK. Hogan. I could go on…

WWE just needs to do it, flip Cena heel & get it over with.

    • Unknown

When and if Vince every lets Cena flip it will be at wresltemania

  • Scott

    WHOAAAAA!!! That was awesome!!!

  • kingdook24

    The swerve.

  • BlazeKing

PPV has actually been kinda good!

  • kingdook24

Was I hearing things or did Booker T just say he was happy to be here in this fine “country” of New Jersey?

    • BlazeKing

He said “Wrestling Country” lol. It’s true though, NJ doesn’t like BS with it’s wrestling at all.

  • kingdook24

Is it just me or is Tamina not getting any crowd reaction?

  • kingdook24

The RAW when Stephanie announced Bryan would be facing Kane, when Kane tombstoned Bryan 3 times – that whole segment, from when Bryan first came out, Bryan looked like he was about to burst into tears. This dude is so humbled & didn’t even have to come to work that day with his father’s passing. My condolences to his family & I have a new found respect for Bryan. This whole storyline, he seems to be fueled with his father’s passing – I could be wrong but since then, Bryan has definitely seemed more darker.

  • BlazeKing

The forklift ending from the Attitude Era!!!

    … Or not, lol.

  • BlazeKing

JBL’s hilarious! “How does he even know how to drive a forklift?!”

  • kingdook24

Seriously… why does WWE keep gasoline under a WWE ring?

    • a7beeny

for post show BBQ maybe .. geez

  • kingdook24

    Clear matches of the night:
    Shield/Evo & DB/Kane

    Great follow-up PPV from Wrestlemania.

  • George

Kane reminds me in this match why he’s my favorite. 47 years old and
still willing to take the big bumps, bruises, falls and even light
himself on fire to put people over. I have even more respect for him if that’s even possible

    • Craig

The DDT on the chair he didn’t take the best tho he was no where near it lol but I agree with you

  • Craig

I was really hoping Kane would win to give him 1 final run but it looks like this feud will continue to the ppv after payback with Kane winning somehow next month!!!

  • kingdook24

We didn’t have alot of people on tonight. But to quote one of my favorite rappers:
Less is more. There’s plenty of us.

And I had fun tonight. Fun group of people. Fun event. If it’s anything like Wrestlemania or Extreme Rules, I’m truly excited for Payback.

  • Val Parfenoff

why would they book wyatt to win like that?

  • Gary Robert

    and Tamina taps out INSTANTLY.

  • Christopher

Extreme Rules was Awesome! There might be some details people might complain about, but it was so darn entertaining! I didnt know how to react to the possessed kid. I want to find it creepy but i find it hilarious. Any one else think its kind of corny?
