Fourth Report: WWE Raw House Show Results (9/05/09) - St. Paul, Minnesota

Written by Robert Polacek on Sep 6, 2009 - 2:58:38 PM

Wrestling News World reader Robert Polacek sent in the following report:

Hey guys my name is Robert Polacek and I attended the Raw St.Paul, MN house show on Sept. 5th.

Overall, I'd give the show a thumbs up. The Xcel Energy Center only sold lower level and floor seats along with a few box suits above. Overall, the floor was sold out and about 70-75% of the lower level seating was filled.

Biggest pops: HHH, John Cena, Kofi Kingston, MVP, Santino
Biggest Heat: Miz, Legacy, Randy Orton, Swagger

The show kicked off with Chavo Guererro vs Evan Bourne. A well rounded kick off match got the crowd fired up and on they're feet with some nice high flying spots and little necessary mat work. Evan got the victory with the Shooting Star Press after he fell outside the ring and Hornswoggle came out, distracted and attacked Chavo, while overall biting him in the corner. Chavo fell, Horny left the ring and Bourne hit a beauty and won.

Next match was Chris Masters vs a local named Riley. A mat-style paised match that somewhat lost the crowd after a good starter. A few boring chants and a lot of restless kids around me were confused on why all the big name guys werent out. Masters got the win with his Master Lock on the 2nd attempt after Riley reversed it minutes earlier.

Next up was Santino vs Shemas. Santino enters first and as Shemas enters the ring, Santino grabs the mic and starts calling Shemas a ghost and prances around the ring making ghost sounds. Shemas grabs the mic and retaliates by calling Santino a joke. After an interesting and entertaining match, Shemas picks up the win after connecting his finisher when Santino seemed to be picking up steam.

Diva tag match: Beth Phoenix & Rosa Mendes vs Divas Champion Mickie James & Gail Kim.
Each team strikes poses to cheers and jeers from the St.Paul crowd before the bell rings. About 10 minutes into the match, Mickie and Rosa are the legal ladies and all 4 are in the ring, Gail does a dropkick off the top rope that connects on Beth Phoenix; as that happens, Mickie climbs the top rope and leaps onto Rosa for the roll up and the 1-2-3.

Triple Threat Match for the US Title: Champion: Kofi Kingston vs MVP vs The Miz
Miz enters the ring first to major heat. He picks up the mic and plays off the heat, entitling himself to more jeers that end up being the loudest of the night.

Match starts with MVP and Kofi doing a lot of double team action on Miz. Miz dislikes it, rolls out the ring and takes a seat ringside for a few minutes while MVP and Kofi go at it inside the ring. After about 2 minutes, Miz reenters the action and MVP & Kofi begin right where they left off. Match continued for at 12 minutes with a lot of back & forth action that was very entertaining and exciting to watch. Kofi gets the win and retains after the Miz countered MVPs attempt at the playmaker, knocks MVP out the ring and Kofi hits Miz with Trouble in Paradise. Kofi and MVP get good ovations leaving while Miz contines getting large amounts of boos.

After a 10 minute intermission, Jack Swagger vs Mark Henry hit the ring.
Not a bad match, a little slow, but decent work by both. Wouldn't be shocked if they pull the trigger on this as an actual fued soon. Mark Henry picks up the victory after he hit Swagger with The World's Strongest Slam.

Next up: 2 on 1 Handicap Match: Legacy vs HHH
Legacy enters first; cuts a anti-DX promo saying why do we (fans) buy DX merchandise when they're really old and are either gonna die soon or at least retire. HHH comes out to a huge pop and cuts a slight sly promo saying for legacy to take it easy on him cause unlike them, its his first time with 2 men. Extremely funny. A well executed match, HHH gets the win after he flips Dibiase over the top rope and connects on his 2nd chance Pedigree on Rhodes. After the bell rang, Legacy attacks HHH and the crowd starts to chant "H-B-K, H-B-K, H-B-K..." But he doesn't show, the segment ends and Orton's music hits.

WWE Title Match: Randy Orton (Champ) vs John Cena
Great start, slows down a bit. Crowd really behind Cena with very few Orton supporters. After about 10 minutes into match, Orton draws tremendous heat as he slams Cena into the steps outside the ring and grabs a fans sign and tears it in half. The crowd now strongly behind Cena as they crawl back into the ring. They each kick out of one anothers' finishers. Cena on his hands and knees in the corner, Orton goes for the boot to the head, Cena moves out of the way and counters to put Orton into STF. 30 secs. later, Legacy runs out and start beating on Cena. Match dqed and Cena wins, but Orton retains. HHH comes out and helps out Cena as they clear out the ring beating on Legacy as Orton flees instantly to the backstage area. Cena and HHH pose together raising one another's hands in the air as they end the show.
