Fourth Report: WWE Raw House Show Results (9/19/09) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Written by Kevin LC on Sep 20, 2009 - 2:01:02 PM
Wrestling News World reader Kevin LC sent in the following report:
Here are the results from the house show from Halifax, Nova Scotia on September 19, 2009.
1. Evan Bourne defeated Chavo Guererro with a Shooting Star Press after interference from Hornswoggle. Great little match that definitely got the crowd going.
2. Primo defeated Alex Riley with a twisting Cross Body Block (not really sure what the proper name is - he was facing the crowd on the top rope before twisting in the air into a cross body block). I read the house show report from Saint John from the night before and it said Alex Riley was billed as a babyface from New Brunswick. At this show he was basically a high school jock who came out wearing what looked like a jacket the Steiner Brothers used to wear back in the early 90's minus the sleeves. He cut a quick promo saying something like beating his opponent was going to be as easy as taking our lunch money. He's got a good look but the crowd wasn't really into this match too much.
3. Chris Masters defeated Santino Marella with the Masterlock. Fun match that got the crowd back into the show. I got my wish when Santino took the mic and told Masters how much of a jerk he was. Funniest part of the show - Santino asks the crowd to participate in a little survey and asked us how much would we like it if he punched Chris right in the face. Crowd cheered like crazy and Santino told Chris "Well, consider your face a-punched."
4. Kofi Kingston defeated Jack Swagger and The Miz in a triple threat match for the US Championship. Good match that saw Kofi pin Swagger after the Trouble in Paradise. While Kofi was finishing off Swagger, the Miz took the title with him to the back.Intermission
5. Alicia Fox defeated Rosa Mendes with an awesome scissors kick. The match was pretty lame as was expected but Fox's scissors kick definitely got a reaction from the crowd that didn't include any cat calls.
6. The Legacy defeated Mark Henry and MVP. Both members of Legacy are two of the best wrestlers in the company, no doubt about it. They do all the little things that many wrestlers today simply overlook. The finish came when Ted DiBiase hit Dream Street on MVP after Cody pulled the top rope down causing Mark Henry to tumble to the floor.
7. John Cena retained the WWE Championship against Randy Orton after hitting the Attitude Adjustment. Very slow for the first 15 minutes with the exact same finish from the Saint John show the night before - ref bump, Orton taps to the STF but ref is out, Orton hits the RKO but Cena barely kicks out and eventually Cena hits his finisher. After the match Legacy came out to attack Cena but Mark Henry and MVP made the save. All three had DiBiase trapped in the middle until they all hit their finishers on him. After all this goes down Cena took the mic and thanked everyone for coming out but said there's one more thing that needs to be taken cared of. He said he received a letter from a former Canadian Navy that was particularly emotional so he asked the audience if he was here tonight. The former Navy runs down through the crowd and security helps him into the ring where he proceeds to propose to his girlfriend, who eventually makes her way to the ring. Great end to a very fun night of WWE.
Tonight was my buddy's first WWE show, who I've been slowly sucking him into, and he said he was thoroughly entertained with the whole show.
