Second Report: WWE Raw House Show Results (9/06/09) - Madison, Wisconsin

Written by Seth Hillebrand on Sep 7, 2009 - 10:19:26 AM

Wrestling News World reader Seth Hillebrand sent in the following report:

Raw House Show Results from Madison, Wisconsin:

Match 1 -- Chavo Guerroro vs. Evan Bourne. Really solid opener, great back and forth action, above TV quality match. Crowd was hot. Bourne gets the win with Air Bourne after Hornswaggle interferes.

Match 2 -- Chris Masters vs. Alex Riley. Not much here, a lot of tough guy power stuff. Masters wins with the Masterlock.

Match 3 -- Santino Marella vs. Seamus. Santino gets on the mic and tells Seamus to, "get some sun". Not much from Santino, as Seamus gets the win with a Rock Bottom into a Backbreaker.

Match 4 -- Rosa Mendes and Beth Phoenix vs. Gail Kim and Kelly Kelly. Again, pretty standard Divas match, Kelly gets the win on Rosa with a step-up leg drop. Afterwards, Beth blames Rosa for the loss.

Match 5 -- Triple Threat for the US Title Kofi Kingston vs. MVP vs. The Miz. Miz starts out on the mic and gets a ton of cheap heat by saying all the good he has done for charities and such. Solid effort from all 3, even a nice spot of roll-ups where the odd man out of the pinfall came up with a roll up. Kofi retains with Trouble in Paradise on Miz. Best line of the night from the crowd, "Hey Miz, how come your jaw hurts? I'd better be tetanus, because that kick missed you by a foot."Intermission and Tony Chimmel hawking John Cena merchandise and 12 rounds, all presumed to be autographed by Cena.

Match 6 -- Jack Swagger vs Mark Henry. Swagger gets a lot of heat from rolling out of the ring a lot, works over Henry's knee for 5 minutes, then body tackle, splash, WSS on Swagger for the 1-2-3. Solid pop for Henry.

Match 7 -- Legacy vs. HHH 2-on-1 Handicap Match. Trips dominates the early going by beating Rhodes and DiBiase individually. Legacy takes over for a good solid 10 minutes working over HHH. Good tag team wrestling from Legacy, before HHH gets control. End comes when Jack Doan is trying to get Ted out of the ring, HHH with a chairshot from the outside into the ring on Rhodes, send Ted over the top, Pedigree on Cody, 1-2-3, HHH wins. Postmatch beatdown on HHH gets Legacy even more heat for Sunday's PPV.

Match 8 -- WWE Title Match, Randy Orton vs. John Cena. Orton dominates most of the match, so the little ones can cheer for Cena to come back. It doesn't happen for quite a bit, as Orton continues to have control in the match. Cena gets in his "moves of doom", goes for the AA, countered into an RKO attempt, countered into a drop toe hold, then, here comes Legacy. Thhhbbbpptttt. Cena wins by DQ. Postmatch beat down on Cena by all 3, HHH makes the save. While Randy is leaving like it's his job, dual AA and Pedigree on Legacy. Show over, hand slaps for everyone, good night everybody. To be honest, I thought that the main event would be a little more. I know it's a house show, but, it looked like Randy was kinda phoning it in a little, like he really didn't want to do it. Also, if the WWE is aiming their product to kids, and making the shows PG, that's fine, but they need to get the messege across to the fans at these live events. A lot of parents are shelling out good dollars to come to these for their kids, and they shouldn't have to have their kids hear things that would make a sailor be embarrassed to hear it. Jeering the "bad guy" is expected and encouraged, but young kids don't need to hear about guys and putting male genitalia in their mouths. Just my opinion.
