Second Report: WWE SmackDown/ECW House Show Results (7/03/09) - San Diego, California

Written by Anthony Diaz on Jul 4, 2009 - 12:07:17 PM

Wrestling News World reader Anthony Diaz sent in the following report:

First match Evan Bourne vs Shelton Benjamin. A very good solid and exciting match with Evan hitting the shooting star press to get the win.

Winner: Evan Bourne.

The second match wasn't that great, Ricky the Dragon Steamboat vs. Drew McIntyre like a 12 minute match of boringness.

Winner: Steamboat

Next match was the Punjabi Playboy Khali vs. Dolph Ziggler. Decent match with Kahli hitting Ziggler with the head chop for the win.

Winner: Khali

Next was a fatal four way match for the ECW title. Jack Swagger vs Mark Henry vs Christian vs Tommy Dreamer. Good paced match with the highlight being Mark Henry power bombing Swagger who at the same time superplexed Christian and on the way down Dreamer was his by the falling Christian! Great sequence of moves. Dreamer hits the DDT on Swagger for the win.

Winner and still ECW champion: Tommy Dreamer

Next was Edge vs Jeff Hardy. Edge kept getting on the rope and raising his hands and receiving heat and then Edge would purposely slip of the ropes which was really funny he did it 3 times and then he ended up really hurting himself after he dodged an attack by Hardy. Edge had hurt is ankle somehow and they had to stop the match!

Winner by stoppage: Jeff Hardy

After the match Edge had to be carried out as he got out of the ring he grabbed the mic and said "Sorry" and proceeded to be helped back stage.

Then a quick intermission then the show rolled on.

Next was a Divas tag team match which pitted Gail Kim and Melina vs the Womens champion Michelle McCool and Alicia Fox. This turned out to be a really good match. All Divas were on point hitting every mark! Way to go Divas!

Winners: Gail Kim and Melina!

The next match was Chris Jericho vs John Morrison. Another great match. Before the match Jericho went on with his usual deal calling everyone Manities? This got huge heat.

Winner Chris Jericho with a roll up and holding the ropes for the three!

Main event C M Punk vs Rey Mysterio. Mixed emotions for Punk! HUGE ovation for Mysterio of course! An exciting and action packed match with the crowd going nuts the whole time especially during the 619. Jericho came out towards the end and distracted Mysterio. Rey eventually fought him off. Then Rey went for a top rope splash on Punk and missed. Punk got up and gave Mysterio the GTS and that he did.

Winner of the match and still World Heavyweight Champion C M Punk!

Jericho came into the ring and Punk and Jericho both started stomping Rey out. Then Jeff Hardy comes out to the rescue! Hardy cleaned house and both Punk and Y2J got the 619 as Hardy climbed the ropes and hit the Swanton Bomb on Jericho and Rey hits Punk with a splash from the top rope to end the night!

Biggest pop
Rey Mysterio
Jeff Hardy
The Great Khali

Biggest heat
