Third Report: WWE Raw House Show Results (9/19/09) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Written by Jeremy on Sep 20, 2009 - 1:50:42 PM
Wrestling News World reader Jeremy sent in the following report:
Hi Richard. Here are the House Show Results for WWE Raw from Halifax.
Tony Chimmel was the ring announcer. Attendance was in the 7,000 - 7,500 range.
1st Match: Evan Bourne def. Chavo Guerrero with the Air Bourne after an assist from Hornswoggle. Decent match, good back-and-forth action. Lasted about 10 - 12 minutes. Perfect way to start the show. Post-match celebration with Bourne and Hornswoggle.
2nd Match: Primo def Alex Riley in a mediocre match. Riley had a High School Jock gimmick, billed from Ohio. He trashed the Canadian fans, then Primo came out to shut him up. Lasted about 10 minutes.
3rd match: Chris Masters beat Santino Marella in 12 minutes. Marella on the mic to start the match off. Good back-and-forth action throughout. Marella tried to steal the Masterlock, but was countered, and submit to Masters' Masterlock. Post-match, Santino apologized to the fans.
4th match: US Title Triple Threat: Kofi Kingston def The Miz and Jack Swagger in 20 minutes. Miz on the mic to insult the Canadian fans, and to build up the theft of the US title on Raw last Monday. Excellent match. Swagger spent most of the mach outside, with Kofi and Miz doing most of the work. Finish came when Miz left the ring and walked off with the US belt, and Kofi hit Trouble in Paradise on Swagger.
Intermission.
5th Match: I'm told there was a brief Divas match after the intermission, lasting less than 5 minutes. I missed it as I was caught in a line up at the concession stands.
6th Match: Legacy def Mark Henry and MVP. Great match, good action with MVP being dominated throughout, keeping Henry on the side of the ring. Lasted 20 - 25 minutes. End came when DiBiase hit Dream Street on MVP.
Main event: WWE Championship Match: John Cena def Randy Orton in 25 minutes to retain. Excellent match, great action. Orton dominated throughout. Cena had Orton up for the AA, but the ref got knocked out (could see that coming from a mile away). Orton tapped to the STF, but with no ref, there was nobody to register the submission. Orton with the RKO, but Cena kicked out. Orton goes for the punt, but Cena moves, and hits the AA and gets the three.
Post match, Legacy gangs up on Cena, and MVP and Mark Henry out to make the save. Orton and Rhodes flee, leaving DiBiase to take all 3 of the babyfaces respective finishers on him.
Cena invited a member of the Royal Canadian Navy, or should I say Royal Canadian Armed Forces, into the ring, who proceeded to propose to his girlfriend in front of the live audience. She accepted, and the show was over.
Biggest Pop:
1. Cena
2. Mark Henry (No, I'm not kidding.)
3. Santino Marella
Biggest Jeers:
1. Orton
2. Legacy
3. the Miz
