WWE Raw House Show Results - 4/08/08
Trenton, New Jersey
William Regal came out to a lot of heat. He said he was honored to be in...then asked Tony Chimel where he was.
Brian Kendrick def. Carlito
The match was mostly controlled by Carlito. He spent the last part of the match delivering a lot high impact moves but only getting the two count on Kendrick. Kendrick eventually surprised Carlito with Sliced Bread and got the win. Carlito sat in the ring seemingly devastated. Kendrick was way over with the crowd.
Paul Burchill def. D.H. Smith.
I was really upset about the crowd reaction with this one, mostly because there wasn't one. D.H. played face despite his supposed heel turn. Burchill won with feet on the ropes.
Ron Killings def. Charlie Haas.
When Killings was announced nobody really reacted at first then he started walking around the ring screaming "what's up!" The crowd started yelling it back, and he just kept doing it. Honestly he probably did it about 30 times. He also picked up two kids and screamed it at one point. Eventually he got into the ring. Haas controlled most of the match while Killings mostly did his dance move reversals and screamed..."what's up!" By that point even the crowd wasn't yelling it back. Although some, like Haas only yelled it when Killings got hit. Killings went on the offensive for about five moves and he came up limp delivering a very awkward scissor kick. He stayed down for awhile and the X went up. A stretcher was brought out but Killings made it to the back with the aid of two refs. I don't really care for Killings but the 10 year old sitting next to me said "he has potential." I guess that's what counts.
Snitsky def. Val Venis.
Everyone was really excited to see Val Venis (the crowd was going crazy when he was going to throw his towel)...until Snitsky came out. A lot of "brush your teeth" chants and a Snitsky win.
Maria & Mickie James def. WWE Women's Champion Beth Phoenix & Katie Lea.
I was really surprised at the reaction to the match as I honestly feel it got the second biggest pop of the night. Mickie James was way over with the crowd and it was good to see her in the ring with the Glamazon. Maria and Mickie even used some double team maneuvers. Mickie and Maria ultimately got the victory when Mickie hit her DDT on Katie Lea while Maria held Beth on the outside.
World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes def. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch.
Cade and Murdoch got the most heat of the night hands down and they were great about playing it up. Both were in the faces of the crowd and the security guards. Murdoch even played that he was going to hop the barrier. Murdoch got on the mic and said that "there wasn't a one of ya that I couldn't knock the yellow of your teeth." Crowd went nuts. The match was back and forth for the most part. Holly went for the Alabama Slam on Murdoch but Cade interfered while the ref was distracted. Cade went out on the apron and taunted the fans not realizing Holly had pinned Murdoch with an inside cradle. Cade yelled at Murdoch in the ring and left irate.
Umaga def. Santino Marella.
The next match was more of a promo. Santino came out and talked about how he only lived an hour away (Patterson) but other parts of New Jersey were stupider. He then went on to say that next week would mark the anniversary of his becoming a WWE superstar, scratch that, a WWE megastar. He said that everything from his first year was in the past now. Out comes Umaga to a nice pop. Umaga approaches Santino to fight but Santino stops him. He says that they had their differences but that Umaga seems like a nice guy, he then asked Umaga what kind of guy he thought Santino was. Umaga answered, "Fa Fa Feena." Santino liked the sound of it, hugged Umaga and then said they should become a tag team of a Samoan and an Italian...Samo Italian. Umaga grabbed Santino for the spike and Santino screamed like a girl until the spike. Umaga got the win but Santino stole the show yet again. I'm really
hoping they rehash this promo for Raw tv because it was one of the better Santino promos, and they're all great.
Triple H def. WWE Champion Randy Orton via DQ.
HHH comes out to a huge ovation without a doubt the biggest of the night. Orton follows but received more heat than the norm as of late. This was a really good match as they hit most of the spots they hit in their previous matches. The ref got knocked out at one point and Orton hit the RKO. The ref came to but Orton only got the two count. William Regal stormed the ring upset about the count. Orton slipped out of the ring and got the title belt but HHH took it and hit Orton with it. The ref went for the count but Regal kicked HHH. Orton got out of the ring. HHH and Regal brawled until HHH hit him with a pedigree. HHH then went after Orton, threw him back in the ring, and delivered another pedigree. Huge pop and the end of the show.
