WWE Raw House Show Results (04/10/08) - Belfast, Northern Ireland

WWE Raw House Show Results - 4/10/08
Belfast, Northern Ireland
I just got back from the Raw house show at the Odyssey, here in Belfast, Northern Ireland. To be honest i did not have very high expectations looking at the Tuesday House show in Trenton and the list of guys to be in Belfast on WWE.com but it turned out to be a fun show.
Lillian kicked off the show by announcing Kane would defend his ECW title against Chavo, Chris Jericho would face Umaga for the IC title and in the main event Orton would defend against Triple H.
Brian Kendrick beat Paul Burchill (w/o Katie Lea)
Burchill was out first and started by getting on the mic and pointing out that because we are Irish we are used to everyone being better than us so it should come as no suprise that he is far superior to everyone in the arena tonight. Kendrick came out to a nice pop. Burchill beat on Kendrick for most of the match but Brian got the win with Sliced Bread #2 out of nowhere.
Mickie James & Maria beat Beth Phoenix & Katie Lea
Val Venis was the guest referee for the match. Mickie won with her jumping ddt on Katie. During the match Val begged Maria to give him the bronco buster but Katie jumped her. But after the match Val got his wish.
CM Punk beat Carlito
With an ECW ref in the ring we knew Carlito's opponent was gonna be from ECW but the place went mad when Punk's music hit. Lots of "CM Punk" chants throughout a good match which Punk won with the GTS as Carlito came at him with his apple.
Snitsky beat DH Smith
Pretty slow match but me and my friends made the most of it with "You cant wrestle" chants at Snitsky, most were chanting "Brush your teeth". No big suprise, snitsky wins with pumphandle powerslam.
William Regal beat Santino Marella
Santino came out and said he liked the Irish, we are not great but we try. We are like the old saying, close but no cigar. We speak English, a great language, but unlike him we have a funny accent, close but no cigar. We play good sports, rugby, boxing and wrestling but we are no good, close but no cigar. Italians are big, strong and brave and the irish are just cowards. Regal comes out and say he knows we have no love for him but he couldnt believe what Santino was saying. He said the Italian army was the only one with tanned armpits and the only army to have five reverse gears in their tanks.
Really stiff match, Regal got some nice suplexs in. I felt sorry for poor Santino, when Regal threw his forarms, you could hear the smack all the way throught the arena. Regal won with a stiff kick to the head.
World Tag Titles- Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes beat Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch to retain
Used this match as a bathroom break, on my way back could hear Holly & Rhodes getting the win.
Intermission
IC Title- Chris Jericho beat Umaga to retain
Belfast is Jericho and when Y2J is around Belfast is damn loud. Jericho got a huge pop on his entrance and about five minutes of "Y2J" chants before the match could stated. Umaga dominated most of the match but Jericho got in the walls of Jericho before finally winning with the Codebreaker. After the match Umaga attacked Jericho and gave him the Samoan spike.
ECW Title- Kane beat Chavo to retain
This was my personal match of the night. Chavo got on the mic before the match and said at Wrestlemania he had to prepare for 24 opponents and Kane snuck up on him, and he knows why, Kane is scared of Chavo! So he will give Kane the courtesy of looking him in the eye before he beats him. Kane goes straight for the chokeslam but Chavo got out. Lots of back and forth action including a high spot where Chavo pushed Kane off the top rope and out to the floor. Lots of false finishes before Chavo hits the frog splash but Kane grabs him round the throat and gives him the chokeslam for the 1,2,3.
WWE Title- Triple H beat Randy Orton by DQ
The roof damn near came off the Odyssey when Triple H's music hit and he came out to the biggest pop of the night. Really fun main event, with all the usual spots. Regal came down to ringside and distracted the ref as Orton tried to use the belt on Triple H but he gave Orton a low blow and used the belt himself. As Triple covered Orton, Regal came in an kicked Triple H in the head for the DQ. After the match Triple H gave Regal a Pedigree for his trouble and left, leaving Orton to pose for the crowd to close the show.
Overall a really fun show. Jericho/Umaga, Kane/Chavo and Orton/Triple H were all really matches. Punk/Carlito and Regal/Santino were very good too and everything else was fine. The promos were all good and as bad a face as Santino was he is one of the best comedy heels i can ever remeber. Like i said, I was not feeling very optimistic about the show before it but it was fantastic. WWE gets a lot of poor press but everytime the come to Belfast I have always left entertained and tonight was one of the better shows. It would have been nice if Shawn Michaels, Mr Kennedy or Jeff Hardy could have been there but the guys who were all worked really hard and put on a great show.
