WWE Raw House Show Results (9/18/09) - Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada
Written by Josh Kotsab on Sep 19, 2009 - 10:41:39 AM
Wrestling News World reader Josh Kotsab sent in the following report:
Josh here, just got back from the RAW house show at Harbour Station in Saint John, New Brunswick. Pretty decent show overall, SJ doesn't normally get "main eventers" but we did last year and this year so I'm happy.
1st Match:
Santino Marella vs. Chavo Guerrero
*This match didn't have too much wrestling. Lots of pandering to the crowd. Santino faked a knee injury then jumped up and did a jog. Chavo dominated most of the match until Hornswoggle ran down. Chavo then got rolled up for the 3.
Winner: Santino
As Santino was leaving, my buddy asked "Where's Santina?" Santino replied by saying: "Shh...she's a sleeping"
2nd Match:
Primo Colon vs. Jack Swagger
*Decent heat on Swagger (who's sporting trunks instead of his singlet). Nothing really for Primo. Lots of high flying spots from Primo. Finish came when Swagger reversed a 'ranna into the gutwrench powerbomb.
Winner: Jack Swagger
3rd Match:
Alex Riley vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters
*Masters cuts a promo on how he is bigger, stronger and faster than when he was first in WWE. He mentions how he is facing a local guy from Canada but real competitors are from the States. They bill Riley as being from New Brunswick (the province Saint John is situated in). He isn't. Riley has a great look to him and seems agile for a big man. Finish comes when Masters takes down Riley and locks in the Masterlock.
Winner: Chris Masters
*Rosa Mendes does trivia and gives the winners front row seats.*
4th Match-United States Championship:
The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston (c)
*Miz comes out first with the belt and cuts a promo on how he stole the championship on Monday. He says Kofi isn't American and that the United States Champion should be from the greatest country in the World...the United States. Kofi comes to the ring very focused and not pandering to the crowd. He rushes Miz. Back and forth action with lots of near falls. Miz goes for Reality Check. Countered. Kofi misses the Trouble in Paradise. Miz then misses Skull Crushing Finale. Kofi hits Trouble in Paradise.
Winner and still United States Champion: Kofi Kingston.
*After the match Swagger runs form the crowd and attacks Kofi. While this is going on Miz snatches the belt and heads up the aisle while Swagger and Miz stare each other down.
Intermission
5th Match with Special Guest Referee Jamie Noble:
Gail Kim vs. Alicia Fox
*Fun match to watch. Fox is in great shape. Both women are extremely agile and fun to watch. Finish came when Gail hit her finisher.
Winner: Gail Kim
6th Match:
The Legacy vs. Mark Henry and Evan Bourne
*Henry got a huge pop. Very fun tag match to watch. DiBiase is absolutely amazing at playing to house show crowds. Very very impressed. Finish came when Bourne hit the shooting star on Rhodes. DiBiase came from behind and hit Bourne. Henry chases DiBiase out of the ring allowing Rhodes to get up and hit Cross Rhodes.
Winners: The Legacy
7th Math- WWE Championship:
John Cena (c) vs. Randy Orton
*Orton was playing very much like his old Evolution character. Cocky smile and in the entrance did pull ups on the staging followed by his old trademark pose and cocky walk. Cena comes out next to a huuuge pop. Orton dominated most of the match as per usual. He kept trying to get Cena counted out which was dumb cause Orton doesn't get the title that way. Finish came when ref got knocked out and Cena locked in the STF. Orton taps but no ref. The ref starts to come to as Orton his the RKO for a very close 2 count. So close I thought Orton won. Orton goes for another one but Cena hits Attitude Adjustment.
Winner and still WWE Champion: John Cena
Biggest Pops:
1) Cena
2) Henry
3) Santino
Biggest Heat:
1) Orton
2) Legacy
3) Miz
