WWE SmackDown/ECW House Show Results - 5/11/2008
Dayton, Ohio

I just got back from the Smackdown/ECW house show at the Nutter Center. Not to bad of a crowd considering it was Mothers Day and the arena is something that would be used more for TV tapings. It holds about 9,000 and I'd say there were at least 5,000. Here we go

Match One: Hawkins and Ryder vs Finlay w/Hornswoggle and Jamie Noble

Great opening match. Finlay got a big pop. Lots of comedy spots in this one. At one point Hornswoggle got in the ring and started juggling to distract Hawkins and Ryder. He threw one ball high up in the area causing Hawkins and Ryder to look up. When they did, he threw the other two balls and hit them in the crotch. Finley got the pin after using the shillelagh. Winners: Finlay and Jamie Noble (who is very misused in my opinion)

Match Two: Ted Dibiase Jr vs Tommy Dreamer

Good reaction for Dreamer. Crowd didn't care about Dibiase Jr. Pretty boring match. Ted Dibiase Jr got the pin with a roll up. Winner: Ted Dibiase Jr. Unfortunately, his dad left big shoes to fill and his feet are about 2 sizes too small.

Match Three: Kofi Kingston vs Mike Knox

Crowd wasn't really into this match. Kingston looks like a jacked up Sanka from the movie Cool Runnings. Kingston won with some kind of spinning kick. Winner: Kofi Kingston... WWE should put some effort into Knox.

Match Four: Michelle McCool and Cherry vs Victoria and Natalya

Typical Divas match. Nothing special. The crowd loved Michelle. Victoria got the pin after Cherry missed a flying cross body. Winners: Victoria and Natalya.. Natalya is freakin built. I think she and Beth Phoenix could give great matches.

Match Five: Chuck Palumbo vs Shelton Benjamin vs CM Punk

Chuck came out to a surprisingly good pop. Crowd loved CM Punk. Typical threeway. CM Punk got the win with the GTS on Shelton.
Winner: CM Punk

Match Six: Mark Henry vs Big Show

These two guys are freakin huge in person. Big Show won with the choke slam. Winner: Big Show

Match Seven: MVP vs Matt Hardy (For the US Title)

Crowd hated MVP. Hardy came out to a huge pop. One of the best matches on the card. Matt Hardy picked up the win with the Twist of Fate. Winner: Matt Hardy... WWE needs to make him a main eventer.

Match Eight: John Morrison and The Miz vs Jesse and Festus (For the WWE Tag Team Championship)

Miz and Morrison were annoying and pissing everyone off. Crowd loved Jesse and Festus. Lots of funny spots in this match. Pretty solid work. Miz and Morrison got the win by hitting Festus with the belt. Winners: Miz and Morrison

Match Nine: Edge vs Undertaker (No disqualification)

The crowd got to choose this one. Edge came out to TONS of heat. Lots of Leave the country chants. Undertakers music hit and the roof about flew off the place. Really good match. Ryder and Hawkins did a run in. Taker won the match with the Tombstone Pile Driver. Winner: Undertaker

Overall, it was a decent show. I'm more of a Raw fan but seeing Hardy and Taker was worth it. Really good crowd responses.

Biggest Pop
Undertaker (no competition)
Matt 'Underrated' Hardy
Finlay/Hornswoggle
Big Show/Festus

Biggest Heat
Edge
MVP
Miz and Morrison

Worst Match: Dibiase vs Dreamer
No disrespect to Dreamer but Dibiase Jr is awful. He has no charisma and below average wrestling skills.

Best Match: Taker vs Edge
