Complete Details On The WWE Network – Format, Price, Launch Date & More

Welcome to a special “Open Thread” featuring WWE’s historic announcement of the WWE Network. I’ll be updating the coverage right here at WrestlingNewsWorld.com throughout the night.

The stream is live as Michael Cole is introduced as the event host. Cole calls it one of the most important days in WWE’s storied history. Today they take another step in how they bring entertainment to their fans. He puts over their fan base as the most passionate and touts the WWE Universe name. This is taking place from the Consumer Electronics Show. Vince McMahon is introduced.

Vince said the most complementary thing he could be called is a WWE fan. He said today is a great day to be a WWE fan and in a moment he’s going to explain why. They role a video clip featuring important milestones of the company including celebrities.

After the video clip, Vince McMahon reiterates today is a great day to be a WWE fan because they’re announcing the launch of the WWE Network. Vince introduces Michelle Wilson (WWE Chief Revenue Marketing Officer) to announce the network. She talked about Vince McMahon creating pay-per-view with the launch of Wrestlemania. The WWE Network will be an over-the-top 24/7 streaming service with live content that can be accessed on any device. She said it’s never been done before.

Wilson says why over-the-top and why now? She said they’re audience wants WWE everywhere and they’re willing to pay for premium content. Wilson talked about the WWE audience viewing 5x more digital content than non-WWE fans and they’re twice as likely to purchase a service like Hulu Plus. Wilson said it’s going to include the following:

  • All 12 live WWE pay-per-view events including Wrestlemania at no additional charge
  • Live pre and post shows for Raw and Smackdown
  • Soon a Live Daily Studio Show
  • Video library including every single WWE, WCW and ECW pay-per-view, past years of Raw and Smackdown and more
  • The price is $9.99 per month
  • Will be available on desktops and laptops, iOs, Android, Xbox, Roku, Playstation and Kindle Fire.
  • By early summer they’ll add Xbox 1 and Smart TVs
  • They also plan to launch WWE Network internationally by late 2014/early 2015

Stephanie McMahon is introduced. She says what is going to be on the WWE Network? If you’re a fan of the Hogan era, the Attitude Era, a wrestling historian or someone discovering WWE for the first time, the WWE Network is for you. The WWE Network will launch pre and post shows for both Raw and Smackdown, peeking through the curtain of what goes on before and after they go on the air.

WWE NXT will also be available. They role a video clip of their talent development program.

They announce the premiere of WWE Legend’s House including Roddy Piper, Tony Atlas, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and force them to live under one roof. They role a promotional clip for the series.

Stephanie introduces a new original series called Wrestlemania Rewind. She introduces the founding fathers of DeGeneration X – Shawn Michaels and Triple H. After a DX comedy segment, Stephanie introduces a new one-hour show called WWE Countdown.

The next show they announce is The Monday Night War: WWE vs. WCW. They joke because the teleprompter features an “s” on the end of the show. This leads to more commentary by Hunter and Shawn in rare form under their DX personas. Stephanie introduces Steve Austin.

Austin said if you would have told him back in the day it would all lead it this, he would have to you that you were crazy. He said when Vince called him and asked him to be here, he was a little ticked off because he was at his ranch in Texas on his winter vacation. However, after seeing all of this tonight, he’s so happy to be here. He said tonight he actually gave Vince McMahon a big-ass hug. He said it’s a great time to be a WWE fan and WWE loves their fans more than any other organization around. Steve said the best thing about this whole thing you get a chance to re-live the Attitude Era. v Austin put over reliving all of the past unedited and unlimited and he’s very proud to be here today. He’s diggin’ it and that’s the bottom line because Stone Cold Said so.

The $9.99/month price point for WWE Network is available with a 6-month commitment (the fine print).

Perkins Miller is announced and he is here to walk us through the WWE Network experience.

  • The first step is to get a WWE Network account on WWE.com.
  • If you have a WWE.com account, login and buy the WWE Network.
  • Once you have the WWE Network, it’s available on all your devices in one click.

The video will be 720p HD video quality throughout. You can setup reminders to watch and move seamlessly from live programming to archived programming. Not only will you be able to socially share the content you’re watching but you can buy live event tickets, merchandise or view profiles of stars while you watch. Over 300 WWE, WCW and ECW pay-per-views in the library. DX comes out with another entertaining bit with Miller, calling him Michael Bay.

Bob Bowman of MLB Advanced Media is announced. Bowman said when you think about WWE, you think about terrific content and that Vince McMahon has done it better than anyone for the last 30 years. Great content needs great distribution. He talks about Netflix and Hulu Plus doing it for years. He talks about how MLB.tv does it by streaming baseball game. WWE Network will always be on live 24/7 but you can also go back to the library.

John Cena is introduced and comes out in a suit. Cena said he’ll be brief but the most important piece of information they can come away from this press conference. And that is when can they be part of the WWE Network? The WWE Network will go live after WWE Monday Night Raw on February 24, 2014 at 11:05 PM EST. He introduces a countdown clock that will count down the launch. Cena said he wants to pre-thank everyone in advance.

Cole comes back on the show to close the press conference.

  • Xavier

It’s like a ghost town in here lol

    • CJ Blaze

Haha, well you’re not alone now. I just finished Main Event, so I figured I would stick around to discuss.

      • Xavier

Man, I either forget about Main Event or am busy for whatever reason.

        • CJ Blaze

I don’t think a lot of people remember it anymore LOL

  • Shaboobala

There going to announce the launch of the WWE Network and that Hulk Hogan will be the host of Wrestlemania 30 !!!

  • Gesus Oliver

    Who is excited?

    • CJ Blaze

      I am, you?

      • Gesus Oliver

Nope WWE sucks you’re all marks! VIVA LA ROH!

        • Gesus Oliver

          CZW! CZW! CZW!

          • CJ Blaze

            Haha :)

  • Gesus Oliver

I wrote an article about this but it didn’t turn out how I’d like so I’ll just discuss it here.

Do you think WWE is making a mistake by making a WWE channel? Do you think with their success of the APP and Hulu they should create an ESPN type app for live streaming?

    • CJ Blaze

I’m sure the app would work, but you know it’s WWE, they have to do the things the fancier way..

      • Gesus Oliver

That is true. I just think WWE having their own network is a terrible idea. Want to cut down on pirating and still keep your deal with USA network, stream raw online. I would love the WWE network but I don’t have cable. I don’t want to pay $15 on top of already an $80 cable bill. I’d much rather pay $20 for a monthly app

    • Tom

I am sure that the WWE Network will turn out just fine. They have a library to back it up. My one concern is that they will continue their trend of trying to re-write history and they will edit parts of the library that makes it “special.”

Hopefully they will accept that they haven’t always been PG and air that untouched.

      • Mike McCarthy

They’ll definitely include TV-14 content, Cartoon Network proved you can be a PG network and still feature mature content as long as you do it towards night.

    • Mike McCarthy

I think the WWE Network could be (and likely will be) the best thing to happen to WWE since beating WCW in the Monday Night Wars. I think it’s gonna turn Vince’s eyes into solid gold dollar bill signs.

      • Gesus Oliver

It’s still really up in the air. I know they’re most likely make it succeed but I figured they’d really undercut online streaming by making their programming available via WWE app.

    • Ashley

I like the idea of their own channel but have to wait on the details before I can form an opinion. I am very interested to know how they will handle PPVs. And maybe after they get the network going they will have an app for live streaming.

      • Gesus Oliver

That point is devastating to my case..

    • Bob’s Diner

How do you feel about the network now? Did their presentation change your mind?

  • Mike McCarthy

    SOMETHING’S HAPPENING

    • CJ Blaze

      5 minutes..!

  • The Breaker

Heh, it just occurred to me that there might be an open thread for the announcement. Nice!

  • Gesus Oliver

a clock?! If we don’t get Y2J i’m going to be angry.

  • The Breaker

    There’s now a countdown timer!

  • Gesus Oliver

    SAVE US Y2J!

    • The Breaker

I hope he comes back in time for ‘Mania but I’m not holding my breath.

      • Gesus Oliver

It appears he will be back in 2 mins 30 secs…

      • Mike McCarthy

I think he’ll be back for Rumble

        • The Breaker

Nah, Jericho wouldn’t return the same way he did last year.

          • Mike McCarthy

It’s not about the return, it’s one of WWE’s most prestigious matches and I’m sure Jericho would love to be a part of it. And I never said it would be a return, just an appearance.

          • The Breaker

Not sure he would appear just for the match. He typically comes back for a few months and takes a hiatus.

        • Gesus Oliver

According to the stuff he is doing on Youtube I saw he was doing acting classes.

  • Gesus Oliver

That’s an awesome clock and all but TNA does their clocks better. Sorry this announcement is dumb now. #DixieTrain

    • Mike McCarthy

Maybe if TNA focused their programming towards their clocks it would save the company!!!!

      • Gesus Oliver

        isn’t that the sad truth.

  • The Breaker

    Less than one minute!

  • Gesus Oliver

    power outage…

  • Bob’s Diner

They should stream more things like this live – I am pleased that half a world away I can listen to this live at work instead of waiting for a recap from others

  • Gesus Oliver

The Voice of WWE? IWC dis hards are writing strongly written blog posts now…

  • Bob’s Diner

Vince doesn’t look good – not sure if it is his health or just getting old

    • Ashley

he has been having health issues lately

      • Gesus Oliver

They’re testing my wife for the same thing he is going through right now. It’s not good at all.

        • Ashley

I had my appendix removed when I was 14 because they thought I had appendicitis, nope just a bad case of diverticulitis. (This was before ct scanners were available in rural hospitals 24/7). Would never wish that on anyone!

  • The Breaker

Is it buffering a lot for any of you? Vince came out and after a few seconds of stuttering there’s now a video package..

    • Gesus Oliver

      Nope I’m running smoothly

      • The Breaker

I was using the WWE website and it started having issues, and when I played the YouTube video on this page it is acting as though the announcement hasn’t started yet.

  • The Breaker

Cheesy drum roll before the announcement we all saw coming!

  • Gesus Oliver

    Any device?!

    • The Breaker

I would assume any android/iOS supported device, in addition to gaming consoles and PCs.

    • Bob’s Diner

      I like that a lot

  • The Breaker

    Netflix-like streaming service confirmed!

    • Gesus Oliver

Let’s hope that’s how they’re going to do it.

  • Mike McCarthy

    ALL 12

  • The Breaker

    All PPVs!!!

  • Mike McCarthy

    AWESOME

  • BrooksOglesby

Wow, even WrestleMania at no additional charge. This might really be something.

    • David F.

I doubt WWE will be sticking with Mania no additional charge. If they do I will seriously think of getting the network if WWE sticks to promise that big PPVs will be included

      • Mysterion

Oh look. A killjoy in his natural habitat. Just enjoy what WWE is offering for once and stop immediately going “here’s a flaw” or “I might seriously consider it”. If you don’t get it, I’m sure that $10 a month will be the thing that breaks WWE.

      • JR Texx (Jamie)

They’ve had plenty of time to think about it and I think they will stick, but if I was WWE I’d offer a “Wrestlemania package” so to speak and get people to pay a little extra to get it.

        Just what I’d do anyway.

      • Nick K

You seriously doubt they’ll do something they’ve said they will do when there’s no way they can back out of it now? Use your head.

  • Ashley

Well I am super excited now!! Where do I sign up…

  • Bob’s Diner

Wow – all the PPVs. Live and all the past??? Amazing

  • The Breaker

All past PPVs as well? Am I getting that right?

    • Bob’s Diner

      Including WCW and ECW too!!!

  • Gesus Oliver

    only 9.99?!

  • Mike McCarthy

    ONLY 10 A MONTH!?!?!?!?!

  • Ashley

    $10 a month!!!! SOLD

  • The Breaker

    $9.99/month?! TAKE MY MONEY!!!

  • Gesus Oliver

    so $120 a year?

  • Gesus Oliver

    I didn’t get the joke…

  • The Breaker

NXT confirmed. So does that mean they’ll remove it from the free Hulu service?

    • Mike McCarthy

      I think so

  • The Breaker

    Legends House! FINALLY!

  • Bob’s Diner

But… if all the shows and PPVs are now on the network, how we all supposed to argue over ratings and how good a draw wrestlers are?

    • Gesus Oliver

      there will still be idiots..

    • The Breaker

I don’t think they said anything about RAW and SmackDown being on there, unless I missed that part in all the insanity about all 12 PPVs being on it.

      • Bob’s Diner

I thought they included all that with the PPVs, but I may have just misheard – could be just the past Raw and Smackdown episodes

        • The Breaker

Yeah, I think they have old episodes on there.

          • Bob’s Diner

She def mentioned them both at the start when going over all the PPVs that would be on there, so most likely all the old episodes on demand. I’m fine with that. They should include WCW Saturday Night – classic show

      • Nate031492

24/7 STREAMING NETWORK WITH “BOTH SCHEDULED” PROGRAMS AND AN ON-DEMAND LIBRARY THAT YOU CAN ACCESS EVERYWHERE.

ALL 12 LIVE PAY-PER-VIEW EVENTS, INCLUDING WRESTLEMANIA 30. ALL WWE, WCW AND ECW PAY-PER-VIEWS.

      • Nate031492

Will Raw, SmackDown and Main Event move to WWE Network?
No, Raw, SmackDown and Main Event will continue to air on their current networks – USA, Syfy and ION television, respectively.

  • Gesus Oliver

Where are the Cena wearing Jorts haters now? HHH’s wearing Jeans for the big announcement…

    • Ashley

where did u see him at? All I see is DX right now

      • Gesus Oliver

        typo geezzzz

        • Ashley

Sorry! I had like 1.5 hours of sleep today, so I am not all there today! lol

          • Gesus Oliver

Dang it Ashley get it together :-p

    • Bob’s Diner

      I wear jorts…

  • The Breaker

DX is about to do the thing they do best! Cheap plugs!

  • richard

Wish they also had it on dish or DirecTV. Sigh.

  • The Breaker

Shawn was about to go outside PG. lol

  • The Breaker

“I knew it was a front!” HBK… lol

  • Bob’s Diner

You know, as much as I complain about the guy, it really is good to see HHH acting like a normal person. I wasn’t enjoying the bad comedy but these 3 interacting normally and making fun of HHH is great

  • The Breaker

So wow, with all this content included in the service they’re really going to have to get creative with their DVD sets.

  • Gesus Oliver

    Stone Cold?

    • Gesus Oliver

Here to open up some audio Whoop A!

  • The Breaker

    STONE COLD! STONE COLD!

    • Ashley

I will always read that and hear it in JR’s voice

      • The Breaker

Dang it, I wish he would be back to call WrestleMania XXX.

  • Avalanchian

Can’t wait to watch Wrestlemania for $10.

  • Dustyn

“This is awesome, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap!”

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

      “YES! YES! YES!”

  • The Breaker

I guess it would’ve been improper for Austin to break open a couple of beers on stage!

  • Bob’s Diner

Ha “You get the chance to relive the Attitude Era”
I am going to say that to everyone that ever complains about PG WWE from here on; go watch the WWE Network

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

Was going to say the same thing. Got no excuses to say it when the WWE Network comes along.

  • Bob’s Diner

    Wait – UNCUT AND UNCENSORED?!??!!

    • Gesus Oliver

it’s WWE more like “Uncut and uncensored”

      • Bob’s Diner

I’m interested to see what that means though. Will Demolition get their theme back in the old WrestleManias? Will we see Shawn Michaels get hit with a chain in SummerSlam 1990? Will all those signs in the WCW crowds that were blurred out in 24/7 now be visible?

Very curious to see just how ‘uncut and uncensored’ everything turns out to be

  • The Breaker

So there’s a 6 month commitment– meaning you pay $60 at a time.

    • Jason

Not an issue for me. It’s $60 just for one PPV

    • Avalanchian

Sadly that ended my hopes of getting this.

      • The Breaker

Recognize that you’re only paying twice a year. To me, that’s better than being charged $9.99 every month. It may not be as convenient for those who want to only get it for a month or two but I would keep it subscribed for the long haul.

        • Avalanchian

But for me the only thing I’d care to watch is Wrestlemania when they actually stack the roster of matches. The rest are boring to me. Sure I could watch the attitude era stuff I guess but I’d be done with it quite fast.

          • Jason

OK, so you pay the $14.99 for one month and cancel. Still cheaper than the PPV itself.

          • Bob’s Diner

Think of it this way – if you were to watch the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania and SummerSlam on PPV, you would have already spent more than the cost of a year’s subscription to the network

    • Gesus Oliver

      I can’t find that anywhere…

      • The Breaker

They said it in the fine print under the price announcement.

        • Gesus Oliver

          throw me a link

          • The Breaker

            Refresh– it’s a screen capture.

          • Gesus Oliver

I wonder will they’ll only charge 9.99 monthly for 6 months or actually charge you in full. either way well worth it.

          • The Breaker

I would think they’ll charge you the $60 up front. A lot of sites advertise subscriptions by saying the monthly rate and in small print they list the length of subscription.

    • Mike McCarthy

That’s incorrect, you COMMIT to 6 months, meaning that you can only cancel your subscription after the 6 month period. When you order it it just means that you have to the $9.99 a month fee for 6 months.

      • The Breaker

Well it’s all the same. You’re locked in to the $60 regardless.

        • Mike McCarthy

Yes, but you said “you pay $60 at a time”, that’s not true.

          • The Breaker

I think they might do it that way. A lot of sites during advertising give the monthly rate for subscriptions but charge you the total amount up front.

          • Mike McCarthy

All you have to do is read the picture you posted. It’s $9.99 a month “with a 6 month commitment” that means that if you lock yourself in for 6 months then you pay $9.99 a month. The reason they’re trying to hide it is because if you commit to less than 6 months then you have to pay more per month. It’s the same way that WNW Premium works. The more months you commit to, the less you pay per month.

          • The Breaker

Ah okay. I just assumed wrongly I guess. So does that mean they’ll offer a shorter commitment option?

          • Mike McCarthy

It’s likely, but if they did it would definitely be more than $9.99 a month. If I had to guess I’d say it’d be $14.99 a month for a three month commitment.

          • The Breaker

That would seem about right. $25 for a single month?

  • Kleck

    Awesome

    • The Breaker

That’s the pic I had in mind as soon as they announced the pricing!

    • Mike Hepola

      ^^^ THIS!!

  • The Breaker

    Oh no…. A TUTORIAL!

    • Ashley

      Where is Cole for this…

      • The Breaker

I’m so lost unless he’s there to break it down step by step for me!

    • Bob’s Diner

I like the play from the start feature though. Handy for someone like me where the timezone makes PPV times a bit awkward for watching

      • The Breaker

I’m really quite impressed. So much bang for your buck!

  • Mike McCarthy

I just realized that this might mean they won’t be canceling Superstars

  • Gesus Oliver

I hope they have a separate series for Mike Adamle.

  • Gesus Oliver

With the APP going to be on all mobile devices does that mean Divas matches are no longer bathroom breaks?

    • Ashley

They are now watching while going to the bathroom breaks!

  • Ashley

    47 days!

  • Bob’s Diner

THAT I didn’t see coming – I felt for sure they were going to get their last big money rake-in from WrestleMania. Very cool of them.

They’ve done a great deal with this

  • Dave

This better be available in Australia, I will pay happily

    • Bob’s Diner

They said by the end of the year in Australia, UK and New Zealand

      • Dave

        That really sucks

        • Mysterion

Why? For gods sakes. Patience? They’ve just shattered the mould here. You think when Jess McMahon started WWWF be ever envisioned this huge move for his company? Vince McMahon has done something truly wonderful and because you can’t wait a few months for it you’re gonna complain?

          • Batman

Yes. Wwe is a worldwide company. It should role it out for everyone. God knows they’ve had plenty of time these last few years to sort that.

          • Bob’s Diner

They have a lot of issues to sort out – it isn’t as simple as pressing a button and everyone in the world can access it. I for one am quite happy to wait until this becomes available in my country, because not only is this easily accessible but I didn’t think it would even be available outside USA for years.

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

I’m happy to wait, but that isn’t the point :P It should really be available to everyone day one. .

          • Bob’s Diner

Well to be fair, UK will more than likely not be too far away – you’ll certainly get it sooner than I do

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

They’ve been on about the Network for over a year already, and wait a few months, we’re at the beginning of 2014, they said it will be end of 2014, beginning of 2015.. so for all we know we could be waiting a whole year.. and knowing me I probably will have forgotten about it by then, and it is World Wrestling Entertainment, not World ‘wait a year’ Wrestling Entertainment

          • Bob’s Diner

Licensing content and access in different countries costs a lot of money and requires a large amount of resources. This channel is also a tremendous undertaking for the company. USA is the largest percentage of their fanbase and viewers, so it makes complete sense to focus on getting the network available there first and making sure everything is running smoothly before making available in other countries.

This isn’t going to take years like an actual broadcast channel would have. Would you rather we all waited until 2018 so every country could have it at once? There are many other countries that haven’t even had any announcement about when they can expect this service – if ever!

This has been Vince McMahon’s dream for a long time. It will be his final accomplishment before stepping down – I can’t blame the guy for wanting to see it succeeding before his time is up.

Besides, when did WrestleMania become available for other countries? You certainly couldn’t purchase it to watch live where I live until around 2000, but it didn’t make them any less of a worldwide company

  • Harlie Boucher

All 12 PPVs? Better than I hoped. I’m sold. Everything else is a bonus.

    • Ashley

      agreed!

  • The Breaker

I was only assuming about the $60 because (at least I thought) other services with commitments do it that way but I very well could be wrong. Either way I think it’s an excellent deal.

So what’s the exact date the Network is going live?

    • Bob’s Diner

Feb 24th. The only drawback is that countdown clock is going probably going to get pushed more than the app – hopefully Michael Cole can give us detailed instructions on what it means

      • The Breaker

Instead of the WrestleMania emblem in each arena it’ll be a giant countdown timer!

        • Bob’s Diner

The Road to the Network – and all the ‘superstars’ can stand and point at it!

“Watch me do that you again on the WWE Network in 36 days and 2 hours!”

          • The Breaker

Hahahaha. And Bad News Barrett can taunt the fans by reminding everyone how long we have to wait until it goes live.

  • Mike McCarthy

I think this is a moment where we’ll all look back and ask “Where were you when they announced the WWE Network?” and I was laying in bed eating Oreos.

  • Alex Gallardo

There was a watch party for this? Oops…

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Kendra Bunyon

I was so busy working on the RIB that I totally missed this. I’m a horrible WWE fan!

  • Bob’s Diner

I’m I the only person that thought John Cena carried himself in the most professional manner out of everyone? Good of Stephanie, HBK, HHH and Austin to dress up for such an event

  • Tyler

am I going to be the one to point out Stephanie’s see through top?

    • Mike McCarthy

Believe me, we all noticed. But we’re gentlemen!!! We don’t publicly acknowledge things like that!! It’s why taverns and Baseball games were invented!!

  • Ryan

ok people…from the FAQs on WWE website…
How and when will I be billed for WWE Network? You will automatically be billed $9.99 every month (plus tax where applicable). The charge will show up on your bill as “WWE Network Subscription.”

In other words, this will NOT be paying $60 at once for the 6 month requirement. You’re welcome ;-)

    • The Breaker

That was my error. Sorry guys!

      • Bob’s Diner

Don’t worry I’ve seen worse already. Everyone on Bleacherreport is saying that WrestleMania won’t be part of the network, only WM XXX. Despite the press release clearly stating that all PPV “including WrestleMania” will be included

        • The Breaker

Seeing their comments section really makes me appreciate the cool readers here at WNW! (Not just going for the classic Foley cheap pop, I genuinely mean that.)

        • JR Texx (Jamie)

The details on Wrestlemania did come up a bit short so I can see where they’re coming from, but I do agree with you.

          • Bob’s Diner

Yeah, more the attitude they seemed to have that it was definitely not going to be on the network after this year, and how much of an outrage it was. While that is always a possibility, WWE haven’t said that so it is something people should worry about when it actually happens

  • Bob’s Diner

Wow… we seem to be the most positive bunch I’ve seen. The people on other sites are already complaining about numerous things and completely ignoring some details (like the fact they’ve already said that Chris Benoit won’t be removed from any programming).

There’s just no pleasing people, I guess

  • Code

    so its kinda like netflix?

  • David F.

Not a bad price if WWE keeps its promise that the ppvs and Wrestlemania are included. Saves you money in long run if one person buys Summerslam Royal Rumble and Mania at 50 bucks per PPV. WWE better not go heel on us and charge extra for PPVS

    • Bob’s Diner

There is always the possibility of that happening in time

  • matt

I just want to know why John Cena and Michael Cole were so somber at the end. I think maybe because of the news of Mae Young being taken off life support? Something certainly happened backstage and I hope we can figure out what it was.

  • Gary Robert

From what I can tell, I can’t get this through a provider like Cablevision, DirecTV etc etc or am I wrong?

    • Bob’s Diner

      No online only

      • Gary Robert

Well that’s a waste of time. Who wants to sit there and watch PPVs on their laptops or smart phones? Not I. Oh well.

        • Bob’s Diner

A lot of people actually stream from devices like Playstation and Xbox to their TV. I can imagine this will also be available on the WDTV eventually like Netflix, Hulu and MLB

  • monty

I had no interest in wwe network but for $10 bucks a month i can enjoy all PPV’s live and not having to watch over the net or downloading from torrents

all the wcw content alone is worth the asking price

will all the wcw PPV’s be available to watch anytime? some of these PPV’s are going for a lot on ebay so again $10 is a great price

    will sign up

    • Bob’s Diner

The press release says that from the moment the channel goes live at 9am all the ‘On Demand’ content will be available. With On Demand, you just load it like a youtube video and watch whenever you want – and on any device, like your phone or a playstation 3 as well as computer. If you have a good internet connection it shouldn’t be too much hassle – better than spending what people want on ebay.

I completely agree that the WCW content is worth $10 a month by itself. I too had no interest but quite frankly WWE have nailed this perfectly. And the fact they are going to be adding more content as time goes on means we could end up with access to some serious vintage stuff. Just think of all the decades of MSG shows they have in their vaults…

      • monty

no doubt man wcw PPV’s along with ECW are some of the best. Can’t wait to watch WCW Nitro 4 weeks than PVV to see how good or bad a build was

  • monty

one question will cable networks or direct tv will be offering this as a channel to buy?

    • matt

According to the FAQ of it on WWE’s website, no. Instead of pinning this down to certain cable providers, WWE is keeping it open to anyone with internet access, virtually. That would probably take away revenue from the cable company (less PPVs bought, etc…) and probably raise the price of the monthly fee from 9.99 to higher because wwe would then have to cut money to the companies.

  • markbyrn

$9.99 to stream Wrestlemania sounds great right up to the minute that millions stream it at the same time and the video lags, buffers, and crashes out. It’s going to be a disaster. Also, what it say about the current product when their severely discounting the price of their wondrous PPVs – it’s even less than TNA’s One Night Only cheapo PPVs. The best aspect is access to their video library and the shows from the glory days.

    • Bob’s Diner

I don’t think it is reflection on the product, more the state of the PPV business – it is outdated. This is a massive step into the future and probably the best way they can combat illegal online streaming – why waste time with poor quality and risk bugs/viruses when you can get HD access for such a low price?

  • JR Texx (Jamie)

What’s the price in the UK? Or is it just America?

    • Nate031492

They also plan to launch WWE Network internationally by late 2014/early 2015

      • JR Texx (Jamie)

        “price”

    • Nate031492

There is no announced price for the U.K. my guess is it will be the same, because its not gonna be available in the U.K. yet.

      • JR Texx (Jamie)

In the UK we have taxes on top of that too, which is why I was wondering, if it is without taxes it will be about £6.30 or something similar.

  • Cubed56

So can anyone answer this? Is WWE network only available on mobile devices(cpu’s, smartphones, gaming consoles), there is is not a channel for it on Dish Network or DirectTV

    • Bob’s Diner

No it is going to be a streaming channel only

  • karen

On dish network Wat channel will the WWE network be on??????
