Batista's Official Website Denies Our Report That Batista Is Considering Retirement, Quotes From Batista Suggest Otherwise
Written by Richard Gray on Mar 11, 2010 - 1:18:31 PM
I reported exclusively on WrestlingNewsWorld.com Premium on February 15th there are rumblings Batista could opt to retire after Wrestlemania and filming for his upcoming WWE studios movie wraps. The webmaster of Batista's official website was recently asked about our report and called it "another inaccurate report" and said "Dave isn't filming until mid april/may so he will still be on WWE TV after Wrestlemania, after he completes filming he will return to WWE"
In my report, I never gave a specific date for filming to start as I was told by my source it was "sometime after Wrestlemania". Furthermore, Batista is still working under a contract that is about it expire. Batista confirmed this in an interview published on May 5, 2009 by The Sun out of the United Kingdom.
"I have just under a year on my contract. I've just come off this injury and I turned 40 while I was out. I realize that I am closer to the end of my career than I am to the beginning. It's something I'm really going to have to take a look at. I don't want to hang around past my welcome. I also don't want to hang around to the point where I'm so beat up that it's hard for me to get out of bed. I don't want to be that guy." Batista told the publication.
In evidence that could be even more telling about Batista's future, he revealed in the same interview who he would like to work with as his final opponent.
"I wouldn't mind ending my career with John Cena. He's an icon already in this industry and he really hasn't been around all that long. He's going to be around for years, long after I'm gone. He's someone I've not had a long, drawn-out program with, so I think that's definitely there for both of us."

Batista is scheduled to defend his WWE Championship against John Cena at Wrestlemania XXVI on Sunday, March 28, 2010. He has not signed a new contract and will weigh his options following the event.
